the reason why you actually don’t want to get the water to boiling when making jello shots with alcohol is because the boiling point of water is 212°F (100°C) while the boiling point of alcohol (ethanol) is 173.1°F (78.37°C). Since water’s BP is higher than alcohol’s BP, you would have begun evaporating the alcohol before you could get the water to boiling. So the best way to make jello shots would be to let the water cool a bit after boiling then add the alcohol, or just warm up the water enough, below boiling then add the alcohol. Science people. More specifically, chemistry.

This is a pretty simple and easy to follow tutorial for making great jello shots. Of course if you want stronger shots all you have to do is increase the liquor and reduce the water, etc. I've used this video when I first made jello shots. Now I'm pretty much a pro at it....lol

I've followed the directions and it's turned out every single time. I like the Jolly rancher gelatin. Especially green sour apple. It's a good amount of alcohol but you can still enjoy it. I would say these are strong. It tastes great topped with whipped cream. Yum

VERY late reply, but you can use whatever flavor vodka with any flavor jello. You could do complimentary flavors-with blueberry you could use lemon vodka or even just berry flavored vodka. But any flavor would really be yummy. I don’t use any schnapps, and Just flavored vodka, and people rave on my Jell-O shots.
you could but they'd be VERY weak! schnapps has low alcohol content. even with both the vodka and schnapps, these are very weak as they are since she's not putting a lot of vodka in for 16 shots worth.

Increase flavored vodka to 2/3 cup if omitting the schnapps. Replace with water or JUICE. We still think the best jello shots include schnapps. Juice will taste better than just water without the schnapps. Happy jellinating!
Not at all! You just have to worry about using more than 1 cup of ALCOHOL because too much booze will cause it to not set up. The above recipe makes PERFECT jello shots that always set up!
I was always told that you use half booze/half cold water to the hot water/jello mixture......so I can you use ALL booze instead of half booze/ half cold water?
Assuming total volume = X and ignoring volume of jello powder. (Please correct me later if I am wrong) Vodka = X/4, Schnapps = X/4, Water = X/2 (40% vodka, 21.5% Schnapps) Total Alcohol = (X/4)*(40/100) + (X/4)*(21.5/100) = 61.5X/400 Taking final percentage of alcohol = 61.5/4 i.e. 15.375% of alcohol in each shot. Issued in public interest :P :)
