It seems as if some people don’t listen or comprehend well so I’ll say this here, if you’re gonna get in the comments going back and forth about heat damage when I state several times in the video heat damage is a potential risk, then please find something else to do. Because let’s be honest, one day we’re all gonna die anyways and who had curly, straight, heat damaged, etc. won’t even matter… plus it’s just hair if u ever want to start over you can cut it off & TA- DAH 🪄 that’s why it grows back.. So if this isn’t your thing go to one of the other thousands of channels that promote the opposite and don’t use heat… It’s really that simple 💁🏾♀️ But thank you everyone for watching ! ❤ & don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE & help me reach 1000 Subs before the end of 2023 🎉😘
Yes, thank you for stating the obvious for those who refuse to their brain😂
How do people get on RUclips and get butt hurt about comments??
My dear if you gonna be upset about people comments please just shut down your account. No one asked you to post videos. You want people to watch just deal with the down side 😆😆😆. Like my petty comment 😆😆😆
@@Anonyme67 lol I’m not upset 😅😂 just saying s.h.u.t up and stop commenting if you don’t comprehend well and don’t know what you’re talking about that’s all love

I had been a "straight natural" for over a decade, and when I started wearing my hair curly, everyone was shocked. They had no idea that my hair had been natural the entire time. ❤
Starting my journey as soon as I take out these braids. I am tiiiied of the single strand knots, whole day wash day and I never even wear my hair out curly. Glad your channel is here to give advice!
Yay! 🙌🏾 Keep me updated on your process & I’m here to help in any way I can ❤️ Thank you so much for watching! ✨
I have soooooooo many single strand knots and have not retained length in years!!! It's so frustrating
I agree...those strand knots are killing my natural hair. Going to start heat training my hair.
This is me right now I always go back and forth but the single strand knots, for me I feel like if I wear it out I will get single strand knots and the only way for me to minimize them is to wear my hair up like i wanna wear my hair out and at 40 I’m ready to wear my hair out and free if I want without the fear of knots.
@@ItsJustJojo111 ikr. this is why I don’t do wash and go. Wash and blow🤣as in blow out
The pros definitely outweigh the cons for me my 4z hair has been extremely difficult to manage like this
Lol not 4z 😅 but I understand the struggle 😅 wishing u a successful hair journey 🙌🏾
@@ItsJustJojo111 Chile yesss! And thank you❤️❤️❤️
I thought I was the only one with 4Z hair!!! 😂 The struggle is REAL!!
@@Dontbelievemejuswatch right !!😂
I’m now a straight haired natural too! I was having to cut so much off every trim because of single strand knots when curly, but I’ve retained so much length since I started flat ironing. I use a wet 2 dry iron and it helps me retain moisture.
I use to have one of those years ago and I loved it!! I’ve been thinking about getting another one !!
Very happy 'heat damaged' straight natural here. Keratin treatments, flat iron 3x year, length and volume retained.
Yessss 🙌🏾 wishing you a successful hair journey ❤️
Hi can you tell me how do you keep your hair moisturized being a straight natural? I'm really struggling with understanding what I need to do. Thank you!
I’ve been flat ironing my hair since a teen. There are minimal cons. My hair only damaged from the bleaching blond not flat ironing. Just use the right heat protectants.
I’ve been straight natural for years and I love it. I only use heat twice a month and thats between washes every two weeks.
I was considering getting perms again. I’m constantly getting overwhelmed and neglecting my hair as a result. I took care of it better when I had a perm because it was so easy. This is a good alternative
I would definitely say give this method a try first 👌🏾 let me know how it goes 🙌🏾❤️
I have been naturally straight all my life. I only occasionally do wash and go styles in summer. I don't like having wet hair with tons of products during cooler months and winter. And leaving my hair curly causes terrible split ends and breakage. I also don't like using many products on my hair at the same time, and that's what leaving my curly requires. I only use heat protectant before every blow dry and a leave-in conditioner when my hair needs a bit of TLC . Less products to me = less damage= less money spent= more money and time for other things in life.
I’m also a straight natural because I cannot deal with all those products in my hair. I just put a light oil on it before I flat iron and that’s it.
Straight hair natural here! 💁🏾♀️
🙌🏾🙌🏾😊✨❤️
I appreciate that your POV exists in what can be a very dogmatic natural hair community. I have gotten yeast overgrowth on the scalp from trying to go heat free as my very course hair would take days to dry without heat. My braider told me I needed the heat, my scalp was not healthy and she was right. I blow dry once a week on low heat with a drying accelerator heat protection spray and use. flat iron maybe once a month and almost never in the winter. My hair is long and thick and biweekly hot oil treatments and trims every 8 - 10 weeks keeps the breakage from affecting the overall length gained.
Thank you so much for your feedback ❤️❤️❤️
I used to be a straight natural - I miss it - waking up and taking my wrap off and walking out the door vs the fight I fight each morning with my 3c/4a hair omfg
I love being a straight natural so easy for me and much better than relaxer.
I have to say tho with experience, and trial and error, you can repair your heat damage. A repair mask and then a deep penetrating oil always does the trick for me. And i flat iron weekly and multple times during that week.
Also i noticed many sisters cant tell heat damage from curl loosening. Learn that before you go chopping off your beautiful coils, besides trims im against cuts so i had years of practice to see.
Loreal paris 5 repair, and dream lengths mask helped me the most. They also have good leave ins with protein that will bounce back the coils.
Lastly once a month do a deep detox conditioning mask.
Avocado, eggs, your fave oil, and brown sugar.
❤❤❤
Thank you so much for watching! & thanks for dropping some good tips 💎🫶🏽❤️
I feel like it's worth noting that even with straightened natural hair, you can still do twist outs and braid outs if that's what you want to do to hide the frizz. You just have to put rods on the ends of the braids and twists to make them curl. Obviously the style won't stick up as much as if you weren't heat-trained.
I feel you! And I feel so lucky my hair loves heat!!
🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️🤗
I love this video so informative . I recently started my journey and i’ve never felt better
Thanks for watching!! Wishing you a successful hair journey ! ✨ 🙌🏾❤️
This is me. I just don’t have it in me to wear my hair in it’s natural state. My hair has always been long and I’ve never had any interest in doing it myself so I get it washed, dried, and straightened every 4 weeks.
I tried it for a while but It was very time consuming and stressful at times so I went this route and it has been much more peaceful lol 😩 😆 But I salute the girls that can do it full time 😁
same, but I was doing every two weeks and my hair grew soooo long
I am very close to being a straight natural. I get my hair washed and blow-dried. After it is blow -dried, I put it in multiple braids (I don't add hair, I just use my own). This is the only thing that has kept my hair growing. I stopped wash and go's in my junior year of college (2011) and stopped two strand twists too. My hair loves to tangle so I keep it braided. I don't have time to be detangling and refreshing LOL
This is my life right now 😢😂.
Yes I had that problem when I used to do wash and go’s and the high puffs, it used to tangle so bad it was damaging my hair and breaking off 😫😫
Glad you find your channel.
I been straight natural for years!
🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️❤️
This video was amazing! Thank you!
Thank you for watching! 🫶🏽🥰
I tried being straight hair natural but the rain humidity and sweat didn’t want me to live lol also my scalp would get sooo so so dry. I gave up and just went with locs. I love your hair !
Yes I’ve experienced the dryness as well which is why I’ve made greasing my scalp and oiling my hair a routine thing now lol & I was considering locs right before this journey but maybe I’ll still try in the future 🤔😊 Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
I had locs for over 20 years (which you'll see me wearing in my channel photo) but cut most off and combed out the rest a year ago. Today makes day 1 of my straight hair natural journey. I am hoping for a similar ease and length that I got with my locs, only with the ability to change up styles more often. The year of twistouts, braid outs and other kinky styles is definitely not that easy path to length!
@@IndigooceanOrgI combed my locs out last October. I’ve enjoyed wearing my fro again but I’m ready to be a head trained natural.
Pink lotion + Dax lol
Great information! Thank, you! 😊
Thank you ! ❤️ & Thanks For Watching!
TY for this interesting perspective!
You’re welcome! & thank you for watching! ❤️🫶🏽
I’ve always been a straight natural. If I do wear my hair in its natural state, it’s in a curly bun. I have not experienced any heat damage. One pass when flat ironing and I do not add any additional heat in between washes. At night, I wrap it, pin curl or a loose pony. However, the puffy flat irons in humidity drive me insane! Lol You know what’s best for YOUR hair. And that’s all that matters, sis!
Honestly ive ALWAYS kept my hair natural. I've done it styled it many ways, etc... however now I've just been blowing it out. I don't flat iron at all i just blow it out and braid it up.
I clicked on the video just because you are stunninggggg!
Thank you ! 🥰🥰🥰
I think there are level to the damage in terms of reversion. The more often you straighten is, the less likely your curls are to return.
The maintenance between washes/straightenings is the most vital part of hair health.
You are absolutely correct
Thanks for this. Im curly but have thin hair. Im considering going straight and wearing a bob. I have to think on this one. I do like tge idea of changing it up
Thank you so much for watching ! ❤️ keep me updated , I would love to hear how it goes!
I love it!

off topic but I am really considering an eyebrow piercing or a nose bridge and this video has me thinking very hard on the eyebrow piercing. It looks good on you!
Thank you so much! & it’s so crazy that you commented this because I literally just removed it a few hours ago. This was actually my 2nd time having it pierced and although I loved it and the look, for some reason it always starts to reject :( I was told in the past I move my face & eyebrows alot when I talk so I never give it time to completely heal and I’ve also heard the eyebrow piercing has a very high chance of rejection for many people because of the location & skin in that area. But I would say go for it, you may have a different outcome ❤️ ! The pain isnt bad during the procedure but the aftercare gets a little tricky. But I absolutely love piercings & love seeing them on others so let me know what you decide to go with!

Thanks for being so honest about heat training, aka heat damage
Hi, just subscribed. I like the straight look also. My hair thinned out I believe from blood pressure meds. My hair is almost waist length but low density. Your video was informative. By the way I am 69 , dont look or act like it. I know quite a bit about hair types and care.❤
Thank you! 💕🙌🏾 ❤️
i like that you called it what it is heat damaged. your damaging disulfi bonds are broken during heat damage
Lmao 🤣 I mean no point in sugar coating it 🤷🏾♀️😬 Thanks For Watching !
When people say “HeAt TrAiNiNg Is HeAt DaMaGiNg YoUr HaIr” I just want to say…. And?
Like what is the REAL issue with breaking down the bonds of the hair? They aren’t as strong as when no heat is applied. OK. And?
“Well you’re hair could break off.” Well, her hair appears to be growing just fine. She’s clearly not bald. And her hair is in a state that’s manageable for HER.
If she slapped a relaxer in her head, people would say “WhY nOt JuSt PrEsS iT oUt InStEaD oF pUtTiNg CaNcErOuS cHeMiCaLs In YoUr HeAd?”
I think a little heat damage is better than cancerous chemicals.
Thanks for this info

I''m about 80 /20 right now. In favor of my curls but in the winter that 20% comes out! I used the Wow product to prevent my hair reverting but it only lasted two days. That was regular strength. I'm about to try the extra strength because I do sweat in my head in the winter too
Glad to see this comment. I just blow dried and flat ironed Saturday, and my hair begin reverting the next day or so.
@@tias.6675 and get this. i used the extra strength. it didn't work at all. I sent it right back to Amazon
@@tias.6675exactly that's the part that's so irritating to me! I'm so used to wearing wash and gos, But during the fall in winter I decided to wear my hair straight. I still have no idea how to keep it moisturized while it's straight. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it Thank you!
@@kearstenw3855 you can put oil on your hair.
The only thing stopping me from being a “straight” natural is the humidity 😫 I need a really good fizz protectant product and I have high porosity hair.
I agree with your comment, finding a good anti frizz product is so hard these days. I also think it’s because my hair isn’t necessarily “heat trained “ as well 🫠
Hey try silk elements heat protectant it’s pretty good and light weight
Wow dream coat
I used to straighten my hair with Dax - I don’t know if it’s advisable but it worked to protect against humidity 😂😂 hair was greasy af though - that was back in the day
@@femdivinemind7777 I have high porosity hair 🫠 do you think it will work on mine? I have an old school pressing comb at home right now 😁
You’re gorgeous and I’m considering this route.
Thank you!! 🥰🫶🏽 I wish you much success on your hair journey ! ❤️
Nice hair and new subscriber here. I was thinking of going back to the relaxer. How does your hair react when and if you go workout at the gym?
Thank you! & I would just put it in a ponytail or put a head wrap around my perimeter to avoid it frizzing especially in the back
Your hair is beautiful 😍
Thank you so much!!! ❤️🥰
I’ve been contemplating to do this this but I can’t afford that Reverse blow dryer because I’m scared of heat damaged 😫😫 love your hair though ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! 🫶🏽❤️
I find that I am able to retain my length when I wash and blow dry my hair because I have extremely fine hair. It seems like my hair broke off after I got past my shoulders when I was fully natural. In addition, it did not seem as full. It looks fuller when it blown out.
What do you do about moisturizing your scalp? I do silk presses back to back for the most part but my scalp gets sooo dry :( ofc you can’t use moisture bc it’ll revert your hair and if you use oils it doesn’t really moisturize, causes build up, and weighs the hair down. Any advise appreciated please!
I use a lot of oils and sometimes I will mix oils in my oil moisturizers 🧴 and that helps it’s from frizzing as much
Well said
🙌🏾❤️
And new subbie ❤️❤️
🥰🫶🏽🥰
i like heat trained hair but my issue is the gym. i sweat a lot. im trying to find a routine where i do workouts that dont make me sweat too much and braid outs
What’s the point of working out if you don’t wanna sweat? I feel your pain when it comes to being dictated your hairstyle.
ive found flexi rodding my hair has helped with working out. It keeps the hair full of body and the roots stretched. Just make sure to let ur scalp dry fully before u take them out. AND lotta body setting lotion the concentrated formula an oldie yes but a goodie has kept my hair straight for over 2 weeks!
Keeping its stretched and allowing it to dry fully before manipulation has worked in my experience
I wonder if being straight natural will cut down on my butterfly knots
I’m going back - I just bought new straighteners!!
Yes! I would love to know how your journey goes ! 😊 & Thanks for Watching ❤️🫶🏽
New subscriber ❤❤
Yay! Thank you! & welcome 🙌🏾😊❤️
Just a small question but can you still wear box braids (any kind) after you become a straight natural? Because love getting a silk press but I looooove a good french curl
Yes! I do box braids maybe once a year but take them down before I should because I always start missing my hair 😁
Beautiful and Chique!😘😘
🥰❤️✨
What state do you live in? It was so easy being 90% staight natural in CA but now that I'm in MD- Summer was a struggle
😁 I live in Georgia 🍑
What about split ends? I am a straight natural 80% of the time but the constant splits are discouraging .. I trim once a month and wash/dc every week.
Hmmm 🤔 what type of products are you using in between washes and deep conditioning? I use alot of oils and grease on my hair and that seems to help.
Use a little grease on your ends after lightly moisturizing
how often do you wash and straighten your hair?
Once or twice a month
I love my natural hair but the single strand nots are not worth it!!! I lose much less hair when it is straight and I retain my length!
Very beautiful ❤
Thank you! ❤️
How do you moisturize your hair as a straight natural without it reverting?
I use hair moisturizers but I mix them with oils to try to keep down any frizz and immediately wrap it afterwards, I may do a video on this soon actually
@@ItsJustJojo111 awesome!!!!

I hate it it’s like our hair has to stay straight I used to get relaxers when I was younger but I’ve always been a straight natural..
2 and 3 are the same. Where do you live cause they don’t work for me nan. On these islands 😂😂😂
Lol I live in the state of Georgia
Thanks for responding. I’m struggling with fairy knots. So I’m happy to have found your content. But that frizz won’t let me be great either out on the islands 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I’m currently just leaving it at a blow out because I waste my time flat ironing only yo end up with big hair when I get outside. 4B 4C
@@chery0071Try the colorwow leave in spray. It works for me in NC.
But isn’t being a straight natural high maintenance??? With all the blow drying, straightening, making sure it doesn’t get frizzy, straightening again during the week when it gets poofy 😩…
I usually just wash my hair, moisturize and put them in cornrows until the next wash day, I’m too lazy for all of that 🥲
Lol 😁 well I only wash about twice a month & only blow dry when I wash and as long as I wrap my hair at night I don’t have to put the flat iron on it much after the initial straightening. Never thought of it as high maintenance though lol 😁
@@ItsJustJojo111 I could never wrap my hair properly after a silk press, at this point I’m just bad at doing my hair 😂
Great video by the way!! Keep up the amazing work ❤️
Since going natural in 2015 i have been in and out wearing my hair straight or natural. However, this past year I've been strictly straight. I do follow mostly a "white girl" hair routine. it just works better. Natural hair products are too heavy for doing straight styles.
Same here, & I agree, I mainly stick with oils and just simple moisturizers 🧴
Working out is the only con lol
Lol True, there are anti frizz products but I’m not too familiar with them so I can’t say for sure if they help or not. Thanks for watching! ❤️
@@ItsJustJojo111 lovely video sis, I will try an anti frizz on my next hair straightening just out of curiosity now and see how my hair responds lol thanks for reply
Straight and natural seems like a oxymoron
It does and yet I wanna be one! Lol! I have so much thick long hair it takes so much timeeeeeee!😂😂😂😅😅😅😅
Heat trained!🙄🙄🙄 none sense. Just say you don’t care about heat damage
Um please s.h.u.t up I state multiple times in multiple videos I don’t mind heat damage or care about it, it’s just hair it grows back and what’s going on in my head or anyone else’s should be of no concern of yours anyways. Have a great day
