@@thomaskemer8109 Based on MY, personal opinion, yes. Brian May, the guitarist of queen. If you're about to say that he is not good, or that he does not deserve that rank, then sorry for you. Because I, like him better.
I read an interview with Dave where one of the questions was, "When you started singing, were you any good?" Dave replied, "I always knew I was going to be a rock n roll singer. I never occurred to me whether or not I was any good."
He wasn't actually. It's all well documented now, but back in the day they just didn't want him. He bugged the shit out of the band and they finally let him in because he had charisma and the girls loved him. He worked on his vocal chops enough to pass and Michael Anthony did the rest. Me personally, I love Dave's voice and particularly his screams. One of a kind man. I don't think he's the greatest singer ever by a long shot.
@@johnnyteres Oh well. As a musician myself, we all start somewhere, where we are all shit. With proper training(of which part, or maybe a large portion comes from self-effort and sweat) and good exposure to/from better musicians, the BIG-TIMERS come to where they are higher up. They develop. Just like Dave. I personally think he's unique as a vocalist among the bests. I never looked to the other incarnations of Van Halen except where there's Dave, Eddie, Alex and Mike. They're the Van Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaalen sound. Nothing else.
Eddie's solo is still the standard I use to judge if someone is a great guitar player. I remember when I first got down the tapping part, the sheer joy and accomplishment I felt will live with me forever. Thank you for everything Eddie, we'll never forget you.

Do you know what's great about Van Halen in general? When you listened to them you immediately got in a great mood. I think Eddie's playing had a lot to do with that. RIP Eddie- damn you'll be missed.
In the history of rock and roll, the two most innovative guitarists who ever picked up a Stratocaster were Jimi Hendrix and Edward Van Halen. They are at the top of the mountain and everyone else is looking up.
@@elmoblatch9787 well jimi was undeniably at the top just because of the sheer fact that he was doing things that literally no one had heard of yet. Eddie on the other hand was without a doubt legendary but the thing that made him stand out was his tapping technique but Eddie even admitted himself that he didn’t invent tapping, he just popularized it and improved it but people were doing this before Van Halen came around. I consider jimi to be the best just because of how little resources were available at that time, amps and pedal boards and wah pedals of the 60’s are nothing compared to what we have today or even what people had in the 80’s. So for the most part jimi’s sound was just pure skill and practice and technique, there was no super flashy or fancy effects to help him sound better or hide his mistakes, he was actually just EXTREMELY good at playing the guitar.
That was van halen no replacements the 4 men that made a band 4 all times. Michael Anthony enough said one of the most egoless guys in the music world he has my name. Love ya man keep doing your thing with sammy. Lastly God bless Alex,David and the man Eddie van halen

He was the main songwriter and founder-with brother and drummer Alex Van Halen, bassist Mark Stone, and singer David Lee Roth-of the American rock band Van Halen. In 2012, he was voted number one in a Guitar World magazine reader's poll for "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
His story, list of accomplishments, recognition, awards and legacy would take so much to cover here in this post.
Condolences to his brother, wife, son, band brothers and fans around the world 🌎 💔

The shit he could do with that axe.
Man slept with that axe.
Happy Anniversary VAN HALEN ALBUM,released in February 10th 1978,perfection from Pasadena,California❤
I loved this band. I'm so glad I got to see them live in concert back in 1984 when David Lee Roth was still with Van Halen. RIP Eddie. You were the greatest guitarist ever!
Oh man.....that stank look on Eddie's face when he starts cranking out the opening riff totally says everything about Eddie's love of the guitar sound and style HE created. So many great memories. RIP Eddie!!
RIP, one of the greatest to ever touch a guitar.
The GREATEST rock band EVER!
Agreed ❤
RIP EDDIE VAN HALEN! You were the best guitar player in the whole wide world.
We are going to miss you Eddie. You don't hear music like this anymore they will never ever be another guitar player as good as you. But at least we have the comfort of knowing that you're with our Lord and savior you're not in the hell of this world anymore but rock music and I'm crying as I'm saying this, has lost one of the best and it will never be the same. I never heard playing as good as you and you have that beautiful smile. We all grew up to Van Halen practically every party I went to in high school, I'm 51 now, the song was always playing. Rest in peace buddy you deserve it. Happy trails to you until we meet again
RIP Eddie. You and angus got me thru junior high. High school. And more. I lost my hearing because of you. I still have your pic from Charlotte NC 1985. I will treasure it always. RIP
Groupe extraordinaire créatif. Cette chanson est inoubliable . Ils ont tout pour eux . Bravo les champions
R.I.P. Eddie...You're the reason I picked up a guitar. I thank you for the great music and the inspiration.
Nothing like original van halen!!! superb! powerful!!! Eddie. David. Micheal and Alex!! the original coca cola!!!!!!
You've never tried the original Coca-Cola because they changed the formula in 1903, when they removed the cocaine from it.
are you still alive?
Van Halen shreds...definitely in my top 5 favorite guitarists.
Same! My top 5 is
1. Brian May
2. Eddie Van Halen
3. Slash
4. Jimmi Hendrix
5. Keith Richards
@@perezacevedo1053 Brian may?????
@@thomaskemer8109 Based on MY, personal opinion, yes. Brian May, the guitarist of queen. If you're about to say that he is not good, or that he does not deserve that rank, then sorry for you. Because I, like him better.
Van Halen was a drummer
@newt newt Kirk hammett?????? Lol. He sucks!
Saw them several times at The Whiskey and other local events before they were signed. Loudest band ever.
@@johnnyteres ever listened to icecream man acapolo he's 1 in a million
@@johnnyteres Oh well. As a musician myself, we all start somewhere, where we are all shit. With proper training(of which part, or maybe a large portion comes from self-effort and sweat) and good exposure to/from better musicians, the BIG-TIMERS come to where they are higher up. They develop. Just like Dave. I personally think he's unique as a vocalist among the bests. I never looked to the other incarnations of Van Halen except where there's Dave, Eddie, Alex and Mike. They're the Van Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaalen sound. Nothing else.
@@aturogs1954 believing in yourself (since no one else will), and finding your true voice is the key.
His sexual charisma was off the charts.
RIP EVH

VAN HALEN RULED!!! You couldn't touch them in their prime!!! (Actually, I bet they were touched ALOT!!! & By MANY!!!)
Crazy that has been 1 month already!
@@jessatheclassicrockfan6925 I know right?
When they were powerful and the goddamn best band on the frickin' planet. No one could hold a candle to them. Truth.
Facts.
YOU GOT IT BACKWARDS,LED ZEPPELIN WAS THE BEST BAND ON THE PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!
Black Sabbath circa 1972. Bigger candle.
Roth has a puny tadger.
@@markwright5223 Every groupie knows this, which is why none of them went back to him for seconds.
Eddie is always with us! He has a wonderful Son!!! Thank God for this!!!!!!!!
Eddie's solo is still the standard I use to judge if someone is a great guitar player. I remember when I first got down the tapping part, the sheer joy and accomplishment I felt will live with me forever. Thank you for everything Eddie, we'll never forget you.
R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen. A true musical genius and reinventor of the electric guitar.
RIGHT. HE TAUGHT HENDRIX, CLAPTON,PAGE AND SANTANA.
HE ALSO TAUGHT SANTA CLAUS. HA HA HA.
This will forever be one of the greatest videos ever. The video that got me obsessed over my favourite guitarist EVH. RIP
Van Halen understood what it was about, rockin, good times, innovation, technical chops, they just got it, many bands never did.
RIP Eddie ;(. We’re saying goodbye to the best guitar player in rock history. You’re a legend
Saw them in concert in '78 - floor seats, Row O. [Ironically,] I had a presentation to do the next morning in high school Chemistry class -- not my best work. My ears only stopped ringing last week. R.I.P. Eddie.
Dave had the best job in the world ,could you imagine the energy of Ed,Al ,and mike playing behind you while you show off ,.what a gift
Eddie Van Halen and the kinks.. long story short POWERAGE was his fav album
Rest In Peace “The Legend” Eddie Van Halen Rock and roll would not be the same without you😢
The bass in this, man.
Mixed amazingly
おぉぉぉ!!まさに全盛期のエディ!
当時この曲を聴いた時、鳥肌が立ったよ!
チョーかっこぇぇ!
My first guitar god came when I was 15 years old EVH.
Edward Lodewijk Van Halen. Born January 26, 1955. Eddie would have turned 67 today. We miss you Edward Lodewijk Van Halen.. So much......
This was the 1st I ever heard of Van Halen back in 84(?). As a young metalhead Eddie's shredding in Eruption blew me away & really got me into guitar based metal. R.I.P. Eddie, without you metal wouldn't have evolved the way it did 🤘
Eddie Van Halen has that smile as he plays that let's you know he wouldn't want to be anywhere else
😢 RIP
@@jessicakeelin8576 Very sad to hear about one of my favorite guitarists of all time. I wasn't really aware he was so sick
45 years since this single was released January 29th 1978 and the legend of Edward Van Halen was born.
2023 - 1978 is wholy shit 45 years! Damn I started this reply to say surely my good man you are mistaken but damn what the hell happened?

Just his warm up alone is GOAT STATUS
We will miss your incredible talent as well as your smile! The world lost a legend when they lost you. Rest in Peace with the Lord above and play for the Angles now.
Eddie was such an Innovator to the Rock And Roll community, it’s so sad Eddie Passed, I can’t believe it. Rest in peace Edward Van Halen.
There was a before and an after Eddie Van Halen. Thank you for your music, guitar hero. RIP
THIS 70s riff is as nasty as the dirtiest socks of funk jam EVER
Love the before EVH
The 80's were a magical time. We didn't have the internet, and we didn't need it. We had Van Halen. And Ronnie at the helm.
RIP Eddie, your music will love on forever
I was VERY young (born in 1970) when I first saw this video. I think it led me down my path of promiscuity by junior high! 😅 Good times! Now, at 53, I'm too tired after work for any of that! 😂 But I still watch this video and think "Good Lawd All Mighty!!"
IKR???!!!
Hi there, good day to you and it's nice seeing you here.
In loving memory of
Eddie Van Halen
(1955-2020)
Do you know what's great about Van Halen in general? When you listened to them you immediately got in a great mood. I think Eddie's playing had a lot to do with that. RIP Eddie- damn you'll be missed.
I never knew David Lee Roth was a professional belly dancer.
IKR?! Love it.
He's a 3rd degree black belt
He's freakin' awesome!
....well, YEAH he was!! Check it out Man!!
@Margaret McEvoy What are you talking about? David is a good soul and a real mensch. The world could use more David Lee Roth's!!!
Honestly better than the original
In the history of rock and roll, the two most innovative guitarists who ever picked up a Stratocaster were Jimi Hendrix and Edward Van Halen. They are at the top of the mountain and everyone else is looking up.
Well, that's debatable, but I hear you.
I agree!

Classic Van Halen. There is nothing higher.
You know this is a cover right
UNTIL YOU LISTEN TO LED ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!!!!
There is something higher. The Kinks.
Funny you have the hammers from the wall, and said this... Pink Floyd most certainly is higher
Love the guitar solo and then WOW!!! at 0:50, the song explodes! Awesome!!!
