I know they do this cause it’s cheaper to manage 3D type of rides but I’m so glad Steven Spielberg is doing that. No ride is as immersive as the ET ride.
The smell in that que area and the whole forest where Botanucis is like another attraction. I may be biased, ET is my very favorite ride out of all the rides in all the parks.
I remember when they had the scare a year or two ago, with the company making that scent going out of business. Everyone was so sad it wouldn't stay smelling like that, but I think they finally found a new provider and got the old recipe going again.
This is the best quality ride thru of E.T. that I've ever seen. I actually noticed new elements like Elliot's hide out in the beginning, always seem to miss that. Also there's a few things that move when you fly over the city. Wow, great work with this one, it's like i'm there.
For awhile the queue would issue you an intergalactic passport, and ET would actually say goodbye to you by name as you exited the ride. The timing rarely worked, but it was such a cool concept!
I was just on it two weeks ago, and he most certainly said the names! Actually a whole group of people gave their name as "Bob," so ET just said "goodbye, Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob...."
Just went on the 10th. I'm a regular park goer and I swear, even the forest loading area looked updated to perfection. Also glad to see they still kept my favorite Easter eggs of Officer Micheal Jackson! 😁
I was obsessed with ET as a kid- so fun story, my mom worked in the tourist industry and one of her spots was installing a new system that needed special sound and video- so she was at Skywalker Ranch, where they were touring yhe facility and came across a little old lady in a sound booth reading a giant list of names in alphabetical order- it was ETs voice recording lines for this ride! The guide apparently was like "I'm not 100% sure thats for ET but-" My poor mom who had been forced to listen to ET like 20 times cut him off, "That is EXACTLY ET." And made them move on because she was sick of hearing it
Looks like it's had a recent refurbishment. Very nice! Here's hoping that Universal focuses on keeping their existing Orlando parks in the best shape possible as Epic Universe debuts next year.
100% BETTER THAN PETER PAN!!!! I DO NOT understand how the lines for Peter Pan continue to be as long as they are. This ride surpases Disney's original in every way, even the times it isn't fully working! I say this not just as a theme park fan, but a Disney fan as well.
There is a lot of nostalgia for Peter Pan because it was an opening day attraction at Disneyland. But ET is absolutely the better ride. Better queue. Better animatronics. Better paced. Actually has a coherent story.
Why would people from his OWN planet call him E.T.? Anyway, all you have to do is watch Robot Chicken's instructional video about what happened after he returned home. His name is Kleeborg.

when i went back in february of this year, they still did it! definitely added to the experience ☺️

I was wondering the same thing about a refurbishment, some parts are amazing and others are distracting (the RGB led rope)
For me ET wins 🥰 my first ride was in the front row with ET in his basket in front of me 🥰 such an amazing darkride. Hope they never get rid of it!
