- Private Snafu learns about the hazards of enemy booby traps the hard way.
This is one of 26 Private SNAFU ('Situation Normal, All Fouled Up) cartoons made by the US Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale the troops. Originally created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, most of the cartoons were produced by Warner Brothers Animation Studios - employing their animators, voice actors (primarily Mel Blanc) and Carl Stalling's music.
You can't convince me this film wasn't made just for that one pun
Boing!!
It was and it wasn't.
How deep into RUclips have I dived into
*doven
same XD
You found sexual fantasies of the Warner Brothers.
We're in THAT part of RUclips
Scratching the surface actually. It's crazy
Famous last words!!! From up here, I don't have to worry about any booby traps. Then he plays that song again. KABOOM!!!
The moment Those Endearing Young Charms became the most dangerous song in the world. Just ask Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, and Doug the Dog...
Private Snafu: Bugs Bunny as a human soldier.
Mm-ahhh could be...
With the Auto-revival powers of Aeon Flux, considering how easily he dies due to carelessness with military protocol or having some common Horse Sense.
Bugs Bunny + Elmer Fudd = Private Snafu
@@ScroogeKamaziMD I noticed that appearance wise. Shows like Hanna-Barbera have similar looking characters because of the artists. Some riverdale characters look similar to Scooby Doo characters like Shaggy and Fred. I never used to notice it as much.
Be very very quiet
I’m huntin’ wabbits! Hahahahahaha!!
Dr. Seuss: If you are a boob, you will be *trapped.*
Snafu: Ah, to hell, you shut up. I ain't no boob and I won't be *trapped.*
Nyeh!
So refreshing to see such material.
Situation Normal All Fucked Up
-All fouled up
One of those wooden signs with blinking words on it, always gotta be careful of those!
They no doubt had Mel Blanc voice the characters.
Mel Blank Sr.
Correct.
Yup, even got him to use a variation of the voice he'd use for Bugs Bunny.
Ok is nobody ever AND I MEAN EVER going talk about private snafu should get a reboot series? I mean come on, A bunch of vintage cartoons from back in the day got there own new series but not this one!?!?!? This is why private snafu needs a new series, whos with me!?
Me!
At the very least, he ought to appear as a character in other shows, if not his own. Being created for military only, he probably wasn't well known until the internet allowed us to see these on RUclips, I doubt was ever aired on regular television, but now that we can see these he's still not super well known but some know of him. Certainly a character with great potential, really could be incorporated into any show at least as a cameo.
It still is for the military only. The new bad guys on the Private Snafu show depend on what we war on.
Today It will be Snafu the 3rd grandson of Private Snafu.
Yeah! Then get Billy West to do the voice since he already does modern Bugs Bunny.
@@differentfins or Jeff Bergman
Mel Blanc's voice - jeesh!
You ever notice that they always use that song "Believe Me if All Those Endearing Young Charms" for all the Bugs Bunny cartoons whenever they set up a bomb in the piano as a trap. The bad guy always gets tricked into playing the correct note in the end.
A good gag to always have indeed.
And then along came Slappy...
ruclips.net/video/1JRUQMS1suk/видео.html
I bet the biggest reason they used it is because it was already in the public domain, so they didn't have to pay any royalties to use it.
Plus, it just simply works for the gag.
What’s the name of the song when he sees the brothel? It’s been used a million times whenever anything middle eastern is shown.
@@parkenicholson2480 It's the Arabian Riff, and the same melody has been used in countless songs for a long time.
I could swear I can hear Yosamite sam yelling at him to play the song right before doing it himself.
I think this is the first time they used this gag. The gag's so popular they made fun of it recently on South Park.
which gag is “this” gag? the gag where snafu oogled at all the ladies, but it turned out he was more interested in that pi-yan-uh?
@@cursiveM the piano gag. It’s been re-used alot in Looney Tunes
Now I see where they got the piano bomb running joke from lol.
Just woke up from a nightmare my ex was a kamikaze fembot after watching this before bed. Utterly shook.
Since Bob Clampett directed this one, Warren Foster HAD to have written this one (he was his regular writer at the time)- and he came up with the "exploding piano" gag...which he reused in Friz Freleng's "Ballot Box Bunny" (1950) and (with a xylophone variation) in Freleng's "Show Biz Bugs" (1957).
Private Snofu was by Dr Suess believe it or not.
No wonder it so TERRIBLE (ly) funny.
@@bradengoertzen4259 'conceived by' you mean...This cartoon has nothing to do with Geisel...
@@musicom67 actually it does. He was called on by the US government to create (at least the story) for these cartoons
@@bradengoertzen4259 the Warner Bros. guys still wrote all the jokes, though
Oh yes, the old exploding blow-up doll trick.
Normal people: Piano
Snafu: ''Pianna''
Sounds like Snafu went to heaven... and then underwent the cessation of his consciousness. Don't think too much about that, kids.
where have I landed
The piano booby trap was also used by Wile E Coyote.
And Doug the Dog, with a new twist.
ruclips.net/video/1JRUQMS1suk/видео.html
And Yosemite Sam and Daffy Duck
and also was used in a few bugs bunny skits as well as daffy duck.
Also by Doug the Dog in Slappy Goes Walnuts.
Since the harp blew up, does that mean Snafu is in hell, rather than heaven?
I love Snafu.
I love the old War Time Propoganda Cartoons like this one! The Office of Strategic Services ( OSS ) now know as the Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA ) had these films made by MGM Studios and Disney for the War Effort. Another example is Taxes to Bury the Axis with Donald Duck and Tokyo Jokio too!
These toons was way before Adult Swim
I think it was about 1946 Warner Brothers did a Bugs Bunny cartoon Rabbit Rhapsody and Hannah Barbara (then under the auspices of MGM) did a Tom and Jerry cartoon Cat Concerto.
Probably because William Hanna was a pianist they properly showed the correct keys being played on the piano, on the Warner Brothers cartoon they didn't, just like here.
This stuff is genius
The worst part is, the Germans did deliberately put tripwire and pressure plate grenades in things like crooked photos, doorways and pianos
OMG, hearing bugs bunny's voice coming out of anything but bugs bunny is freaking me out man!
That mannequin is a bombshell.

3:37 Even while he's a toy he still manages to do it.
One of my favorites of the WWII cartoons.
Good ol' kiddy cartoons.
How to educade soldiers
3:05 me when I am in r/NSFW
And this was made by Dr Seuss
Looks like the start of Fallout 4.
Awesome I remember these cartoons from when I was a kid. They still aired in the early 70,s
They did not. In what syndicator's "package"? Certainly not in a major market. Some back-@ss UHF station maybe - and even then these were for Armed Forces viewing, not the 'civilians'. You are mistaking them for the usual Looney Tunes b/w cartoons...
@@musicom67 yes they did from Lexington ky
@@musicom67 They're in the public domain, as everything made for the Army back then is. In fact, they've been public domain for a long time. Any TV station could air them if they wanted to, since public domain means copyright free. Him seeing these cartoons on TV isn't far fetched at all.
The worst booby traps are the ones you get into on leave
Lol, a pieana, Snafu knows his English language
I wonder what's the name od that little melody Mel likes to use so much?

Robbie Rotten: Don't let your kids watch this anime
This isn't an anime. Anime is a Japanese style of cartoon. This was definitely not Japanese anything.
@@nowthatsjustducky then why did this cartoon has adult language and content
@@ScroogeKamaziMD This cartoon, and the rest of the Private SNAFU series was produced during WWII. And this one in particular was produced in 1944, 14 years before the first anime came out.
Private SNAFU was never intended to be shown to the general public. These were shown to our military forces during WWII (you know, when we were at war with Japan).
The adult language is again because this was not intended for kids or otherwise the general public.
@@nowthatsjustducky for kids, this cartoon has meant to be TV-Y, not TV-MA and I actually made an anime opening of private snafu
@@ScroogeKamaziMD Oh bless your heart, kid. Did you not even read or comprehend a single thing I posted?
This was created to be shown to out military forces during World War Goddamn II. It was never meant for children, and there was no freaking ratings system back then.
This is a reason why you kids need to leave the damn Tidepods alone.
Again, this was made by Warner for the U.S. military in World War II, not for kids or the general populace.
Today we call them IEDs. 😁
What do you call em when it's not an explosive? Like a punji stake trap?
@TurgeonFan77132 Of course! It wouldn't be a Warner Brothers cartoon without it :)
0:59 was used for Oxenfree on one of the broadcasting channels

Вот чем немцы и вся европа занимались, когда наши деды за Родину сражалились
I hope this doesn’t get canceled.
I don't think it's that well-known to be canceled.
Let's hope not and they shouldn't. It's too important to inform the military recruits about goldbricking, lack of discipline, booby traps, keeping missions and military data a secret and such.
This series (training videos for Army recruits, not intended for civilian eyes) was discontinued at the end of WWII, not needed after that. So it's already been canceled for 70 years.
Bugs Bunny doing the voice.
Between you and me, I've heard Bugs Bunny does Mel Blanc's voice too
I wish those harem girls are real, and not fake.
Man they're the bomb! No, really!
@@bcubed72 I'm not surprised.
I'm not amused.

Definitely Looney Tunes Mel Blank’s voice
Hmmm I already entering the deep.of RUclips, need to turn back
I came here from Oxenfree
That was #mindblowing
So kids those days were also getting educated about booby trap....they were literally ahead as compared to present era
These films were made for the US military to educate soldiers, weren't meant for children at the time. Especially with all the sexual innuendo in this short in particular, mind you they didn't show a mere toilet on "National" television until the 50's...
Illiteracy was more rampant in America at the time, especially in rural communities. So cartoon shorts were the best way to make a point across to a general audience of soldiers.
@@Clos93 ohk...I get it...thanks for this info...
I see London I see France. Don’t bring the enemy home in your pants.
Holy shit, lol - Bugs Bunny's alternate career.

Awesome.
I typed in SNAFU Trap to find that tennis trap from that anime.

Boobytrap spelt backwards is "PARTYBOOB".. 😛
