Glad you enjoyed it! And we kept saying the same thing. The state has literally everything! Mountains, deserts, forests, beaches, lakes, some of the highest and lowest points in the world - it's wild!
My state is beautiful, politics have ruined it. If your on the 395 visit parker lake by June lake loop and brewed awakening in big pine. Plenty of hot springs to enjoy along the way. Don't let the water up your nose.
Thank you so much for staying with us at Willow Springs Resort (family-owned and operated since 1953). Hope to see you two again when you’re in the beautiful Eastern Sierras!
Nobody does road trippin in the U.S. better than you guys. Period. I'm a native Californian and I never knew highway 395 was so beautiful and interesting. Now I have to plan to drive on up just like you guys! 😁
Aww, thank you! And you should definitely drive it when you get the chance. Basically every 30-45 minutes you're in a new, cute town with amazing views 😍
You both make me smile! I love the banter that the 2 of you share. I started watching when you were working on Clementine. I was going through a divorce at that time. Then when you shared about the death of a parent, I just sat with tears rolling down my face. My father had just died in December 2022. I am around the same age as your parents. Keep having fun! I may see you on the road. I am starting a full-time adventure on my own. Love you both!❤
Outstanding video! I am really glad you all are showing this side of California. It really is under-rated and deserves more focus because there are some incredible places to see on the East side of the state. The B-roll and overall camera work in this one are on point! Great job!
I love that you covered your trip to Lone Pine, Bishop and the Bristlecone Pine, and the areas near Bridgeport because that is an area of California that not many people even know about. Every October they have the Lone Pine Film Festival, which is a must go to at least once on your bucket list. I was born in Bishop and my dad was Postmaster & we did our skiing in Mammoth. I consider it one of the most beautiful parts of California other than the Big Sur ocean area. Well done episode!👏👏👏
Oh my gosh! You are in my 'second home'! I grew up vacationing in Mammoth, I know every stop you made (and more)! and I will be there in 2 weeks for my end-of-summer stay! If only our paths would have crossed then! It would have been lovely to meet you! So happy to see you enjoying my 'hood', lol.
The Alabama Hills look amazing! Lol, nice name drop with USA. They played a lot of those movies over and over. You found a really cool area to explore!
We love the 395! Thank you for sharing! We did a lot of fishing and camping for our channel this summer, it’s a beautiful place! Next time you must go to the June Lake Loop! You’d love it!
I've lived in California all my life (76yrs.) and have only been on a small portion of this road although it's been an ambition of mine. This video has inspired me to "hit the road" and see the backside of the Sierras. I've seen many places in California but for some reason haven't really done this section. Time to make plans. Heading to Rocky Mountain National Park in a few weeks so this might be something to do after we return. Keep up the good work!
I have lived in Ca all of my life am 74 and I have only been on hwy 395 one time. I have vacationed in Tahoe a 100 times. I have missed a lot but next year my wife and I plan to spend a lot of time in that area. Great video!
We did the other end of 395 from Lake Tahoe to Mono Lake back in 2002. We then headed west into Yosemite as part of a road trip from Seattle to LA. 395 was one of the best sections of the whole trip for sure.
@@davidday2373 Not for us Brits. The whole idea of a lake in the middle of a desert was pretty amazing. And one that had undrinkable water too. Even more wild. Nope, Mono lake was definitely one of the more memorable spots for us. Would I rush back? Maybe not. So it is not as good as Tahoe, Sonora or Yosemite. But still pretty amazing.
Oh man, ya'll were spitting distance from Cerro Gordo and Brent from Ghost Town Living. Ruby totally could have made it up the road to the ghost town lol
This is a great video. This is the type of content I look for: fun, positive and informational travel adventure. So much better than vehicle crisis videos. Thank you!
I had to look up the ugly bug. It's called a blister beetle and definitely don't want to get bit. It reminded me of a velvet ant (aka cow killer) which we have in SE Missouri and they're no fun either.
Yesss you had me sold from the beginning with Tremors (I grew up watching it with my dad, one of my all time favorite movies) and then the trip just kept getting better!
Wauw the Footage absolutely Breathtaking 🤩 thank you so much for taking us along 🥰 That Bakery OMG thats a whole adventure to its self of very yummy ,tasty Goodies 😋 Looking forward to seeing where your off to next 😜 Have a Good week safe travels 🥰
That Bakery looks fantastic. Oh my God if I lived around there, I would be in there everyday. That pastrami sandwich looks absolutely delicious. That is right up my alley! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
You can camp, hike, snow-ski and Water-ski in a matter of hours…..that’s California….too bad their blue politics, and policies are destroying the state……pray for us…‼️‼️⁉️⁉️
So many. I'm from L.A. and just recently "discovered" the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and a bunch of it's little cool spots. And it's RIGHT HERE, it's between Long Beach and the South Bay.
I spent a whole week in that area, mostly doing day hikes. There's even a top flight restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I agree that there is so much to see and do.
Seems like you had every possibility imaginable of natures scenery in one state I hope you enjoyed yourself and that should be on everybody's bucket list
I remember going to the movies to see Tremors, that’s how old I am. I too have seen the original movie a hundred times. One of my favorite scenes is when the Ford station wagon gets sucked underground. Awesome!
Hello Both. Convict Lake looks fantastic, but the water is cold. Eric In Wales we have a saying about getting into such cold water. “You’ll have to sit down to wee from now on!”.
A little trivia about Bristlecone pines. There is one tree there that is the real actual oldest. When we were kids our folks took us there and I just turned 70. My dad had an old book that had the picture of the actual oldest tree. When we got there, the sign sitting in front of some other tree said it was the oldest. Well, the picture showed the real one on a hill side and we walked around a bit and found the real one. Unmarked. Maybe by today things are different .. but it was cool to see the real one. The reason they used a decoy was so that people couldn't mess with the real one and harm it. I can see it in my mind, ...
I’m so glad you decided to see CA via the 395. The Alabama hills and the lone pine western film museum is awesome. Eric schats( pronounced Shots) is epic. I love that place. I never miss it when I go through. My best friend is from June lake and so we go up and down the 395 a lot. I know you didn’t have time to see more but on another trip you need to spend even more time exploring places like manzanar, eastern sierra museum, Whitney portal, the fish hatchery, keough hot springs (which has a campground with showers), millions of mountain lakes and trails. Ancient bristlecone forest is epic. One of the best visitor centers ever is there. This year is such a great year to visit. The historic snowfall has made it especially beautiful. Looking forward to your next adventures in my amazing home state.
I've been to Lone Pine/Alabama Hills once quite a few years ago and have wanted to both go back and also explore further north which I didn't get the chance to do at the time. Good reminder for me to look into that again!
As someone who grew up watching that movie, it surely felt like driving on California Highway 395 is like starring in your very own Tremors movie - navigating potholes as if they're Graboids, hoping the road doesn't decide to shake things up lol. Kidding aside, I would love to see this soon and I hoped my dart lands in California!
Last month my family did a 395 road trip from South Lake Tahoe to Mono Lake, Yosemite, Bodie, etc. It is just as you described with breathtaking new surprises around every bend and rise! Traveling from our home in Bermuda, a 21 sq mile island, the vastness of this area was so jaw dropping for us.
I love 395. I haven’t spent a significant time on it but I had a vacation plan get messed up so I went to Reno and then ended up exploring a bit so I went to Mono Lake and Bodie ghost town which are both just off of 395. I have a lot more exploring to do over there. It’s really beautiful.
You're right the state of Alabama is so much nicer than where you are at the Alabama Hills. The state of Alabama's is lush green with beautiful beaches and delicious Seafood, while the Alabama Hills are dead looking and dried out and Parched. I would much rather be in the state of Alabama. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You have to watch some of the oldies, 'True Grit' (the John Wayne one), Magnificent Seven', 'Fistfull of Dollars', The Good The Bad and The Ugly' 'Butch Cassidy', fantastic. I used to watch them with my Dad and now he is gone when one of these comes on I will sometimes watch and look up to him and say 'This ones for you Dad'.
I've been on 395. I think we went to that bakery in Bishop. We stopped at Mono Lake for a couple hours. We camped at Juno Lake. The water was freezing but some people swam. We drove an hour to Yosemite each morning.
TREMORS fan!!! HWY 395 from Lancaster, CA to Mammoth is the greatest road trip and Erick Schat's Bakery is a must-go. Full stop.
Don’t forget Mahogany Meats - their bacon is amazing!!!!
What a state California is! It seems to comprise elements of the entire world's geography. Good choice of route, it was spectacular even from my sofa.
Glad you enjoyed it! And we kept saying the same thing. The state has literally everything! Mountains, deserts, forests, beaches, lakes, some of the highest and lowest points in the world - it's wild!

That’s why we live here….from the mountains, desert to the sea in one day…..❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸
Mexico loves to claim "Mexico, it's a world of its own"... I won't debate that, but I think that applies to California too.
@@davidday2373 I feel if mexico is so awesome, why are their people running to America?.......

I must once again congratulate you on just how professional your video editing and creating skills are… Well Done! 😃👍
Michael Gross and Reba McEntire were my favorite actors in Tremors. It is one of my favorite movies. You guys are having an epic journey.

Minute Erik jumped on that rock i knew it was from Tremors. Loved that movie as a kid.
We live in So Cal, and 395 is one of our favorite trips. Thanks for the wonderful video.
The love Eric has for that movie 😂💘
Me and my husband did that drive a few years ago to camp in Mammoth Lakes and go to Yosemite. So much beauty over there.

Tremors is such a classic! Is there some higher force at work here? Bert and Heather in their basement bunker is the absolute best.

So glad you all are having a great time. So glad that clementine is doing better
I agree... you usually think of the Pacific Coast when it comes to road trips. This rivals it with its diversity... so many things to see
ABSOLUTELY one of my most favorite drives.... Hwy 395.... Also, you need to try Hwy 50 to Utah...
Look at all that warm snow melting into Convict lake!
I'm a tremor fanatic too. I love saying the lines while it is on. Never have a missed a chance to watch it.
This is familiar territory for us! The turkey sandwich at Schat's is amazing! Great video!
We did the other end of 395 from Lake Tahoe to Mono Lake back in 2002. We then headed west into Yosemite as part of a road trip from Seattle to LA. 395 was one of the best sections of the whole trip for sure.

Definitely headed back there now

Luckily we're far enough north that we didn't have to worry. Now the smoke from all the forest fires is another story 😅🔥💨
I've been on 395. I think we went to that bakery in Bishop. We stopped at Mono Lake for a couple hours. We camped at Juno Lake. The water was freezing but some people swam. We drove an hour to Yosemite each morning.
If you do go north, highway 128 is a SPECTACULAR drive with the redwoods. It’s jaw dropping. Just saying! 😉
Wow such beautiful scenery ❤
