    Mr. Whitt, you have succeeded in taking a math topic which I have always struggled with look easy to solve. Mixture word problems have been a challenge for me particularly in analyzing the data provided and knowing how to apply it. The 3 x 3 table helps break down that information and helps to organize it into a coherent and usable form. Dare I say I actually had fun working through these problems once your video showed me how to approach them. My brain had to work overtime but it was well worth the effort :). As always excellent teaching! Thank you.

    how you get the 1.36 if 1*94 is 94 and them you subtract 128-94 wich is equal to 34, I'm confuse there, can someone help explain

    • @dtjones928
      @dtjones928 5 лет назад

      If 94x = 128, then you must divide 128 by 94 to find the value of x. 128 divided by 94 is 1.36, rounded to the 100ths place.

    Hey Mr. mitt... Lovely video. ANd I really really loved the way you have solved these questions.
    How would you use the same method for question like this:
    Solution Y is 30% liquid X and 70 percent water. If 2 kilograms of water evaporate from 8 kg of solution Y and 2 kg of solution Y are added to the remaining 6 kg of liquid, what percent of this new solution is liquid X?

    Great video, but why doesn't (x+20) get multiplied by 100 to result in 100x+200?

    • @FortBendTutoring
      @FortBendTutoring  5 лет назад

      It was used to eliminate the decimal. Once the decimal was multiplied by 100, it was exhausted.

    I get lost the secondary solution of the problem like 5-x = the answer help me plzzz

    • @FortBendTutoring
      @FortBendTutoring  6 лет назад

      The idea is 2 understand that solving 4 the variable does not always answer the question. That’s why labeling is so important. I know to continue working because I know what the question is I need to answer and because the variable alone doesn’t answer that question. Keep practicing and searching 4 other explanations that may help you.

  • @shauntaybelton1153
    @shauntaybelton1153 5 лет назад

    I'm lost when you said you didn't know the amount for the first solution. The word problem with Samir.

    • @FortBendTutoring
      @FortBendTutoring  5 лет назад

      I meant that it’s an unknown quantity at this point because we weren’t given the exact amount in the word problem which is why we assign the variable “x” to represent that value. In other words, I’m not currently aware of the fact that I’ll need 2 gallons @ 5% so I’m allowing the variable to “stand in” for the amount I need until the end of the process. I hope that helped. Thanks 4 the question Shauntay!👨🏾‍🏫

    i used alligation method and it came out in just 3 sec ....
    x 20
    5 10
    8
    (10-5) (8-5)
    2/3=x/20--> 3x = 40--> x = 40/3
    i think rest can also be solved by this approach
