Butcher is such a funny character to me: Mechanically probably the easiest character in the game and he's not a low-tier character, but yet the 'vegan butcher' meme exists. Despite everything, Butcher is a *very* unforgiving character to play: Once you commit to a fight, that's it, and if you're wrong and you die we're gonna scratch some power off your permanent record. Also you're melee and relatively squishy unless you're actively autoattacking the person you picked out. Good luck, have fun.
In fact, Butcher is not very thin, I would even say he is like a bruiser. He hath: blocks, self-healing, spell armor, common armor, plus chains that add survivability. It's just harder to play by melee, especially when no one helpeth. Even tanks if they controlled by enemies do not live long.
AoE damage worketh well against Auriel because W radius is small, and players are often too far apart from each other, and she hath to choose whom to heal.

YES! he also walked away from 20 meat from a kill too
You could make the argument that helping the team fight was more pressing than grabbing the meat, though. Leaving meat in lane had no such pressures.
