@@jammygamer8961 Yeah I have a great gaming chair DX Racer from 10 years ago and the thing is amazing with leg rest and ETC ! Going to recover it just because its that good. I am 51 still gaming, loving it at times when I can and yeah its fun. Everyone at my tech company got one cuz they loved how crazy it is and I raved about it. Not sure how DX is now but back in 2010 they had mad reviews about quality and functionality.

Well, you gotta keep in mind that this is a light tank. With a small caliber cannon. It isn't a MBT with a 120mm cannon. So it doesn't spall like a 120mm cannon. But damn i love this thing
But irl the spall and pen was the same as the 105
It’s work slightly different with APFSDS. The caliber of the round doesn’t make a lot of difference unlike the amount of penetrated armour, length of the rod and it’s remaining structural integrity.

Let it be known that Phly has played the HSTV-L for 4500hrs straight to gather research for this new video. This type of dedication to content creation is astonishing but it needs to be said that he only managed to gather a 30 second first shot kill compilation from this 4500hr skill grind.

Did Gaijin finally add different damage patterns for APFSDS 76mm and below? Because some time ago everything below around 80mm delivered same damage as 25mm APFSDS which was pretty damn sad, while clearly there should be at least 4 damage brackets f.e. 55-75mm, 45-54mm, 35-44mm, 25-34mm.
It’s still 100mm+ and everything else with 0 post pen dmg.

phly, I've been watching your videos endlessly these past couple of days, living with schizophrenia hasn't been easy but hearing your voice and watching your distracting gameplay has given me a safe and normal place to be, you'll never know how much your videos mean to me, thank you.
i found it funny that irl getting shot at is very demoralizing even tho the one getting shot at doesnt suffer much damage, but in warthunder shooting at enemy and doing no damage is demoralizing the shooter instead of the one getting shot at

The real gripe with the HSTVL for most players is that after all the nerfs it sits at 10.7 while the better HSTVL(2S38) sits at 9.7 in the Soviet tree as a premium.
Also the hstvl is extremely inaccurate

I played this thing recently a bit and I did very well in it, I also had the IPM1 with it which makes for a great combo, I'm about average or a bit above average and this thing doesn't disappoint, if you play it correctly you'll get the best results. A lot of people think they can just rush like headless chickens because of the fast reload and get away but they forget that this thing has no armor. Be tactical with the HSTV-L, don't take risks.
Actually this is what I do when I play the T80BVM but mate saying that HSTV-L is useless...

Great intro, the hstv-l as it is rn is goated and I can easily get a nuke on it in top tier but I've always wanted to see the hstv-l in it's finished form with the 1 second reload, proximity fuze shell and it's better round with better spalling.

You got pretty lucky by practically having every ammo rack/fuel/barrel hit go off. Almost also always survive a hit, and it doesnt ammo rack you which is also amazing. That never happens for me or my squad mates.
My problem with it is that I can never sneak up on someone, they always hear that engine. The rounds do about as much damage as the 2S38, but that holds more and shoots faster. Sure, HSTVL has more flat pen, but that's all. 2S38 has more ammo that takes less space, quicker fire rate, HE-VT, IRST lock and tracking, quite engine, and an crewless turret which are all major advantages. It's cons are larger size (most empty so not really important), and less depression.
In my playing, it's essentially a more survivable HSTVL with an Automattic built in. And it's 1 whole fucking br lower.
Like Phly said about sometimes it is like the slides just slide one way on a tank to make it better, why couldn't content creators get that little "help" hmmm

It really does. I even think some of it might be algorthmically adjusted by the system based on the player at run time. You can sense the differences from day to day. Maybe even moment to moment depending on..... I donno,, "user engagement"? The game server does a lot of shenanigans behind the scenes to make "crew skills" have effects.

Look at the player cards and you will almost always find that that they are a higher level.
Was thinking the other day , don't you think, since all these fast firing light tank added in between, like the PUMA HSTV-L and the 2s38 and the begleitpanzer being buffed , like I first had a question, did the OTOMATIC had his full apfsds re opened or not? If not , don't you think it should be able to take at least half of its ammo apfsds , cause as far as I remember, It can only have 12
I'm pretty sure it can take full ammo or at least half ammo apfsds, my friend has ottomatic and uses apfsds as main round and then has hevt for air

Everytime Phly takes out a vehicle to test and play, enemy tanks or players in general turns deaf and one eyed blind, when I play the enemy would have enhanced boosted hearing and locked on laser eyes, skill issue is the key here, I guess.
Even when I am attempting to be sneaky during flanking moves the enemy would just ambushes me out of nowhere and one shot kills me, happens to me 8 out 10 times. If not this they would just accurately one shot sniped me from 1.5km+ away. I got more chance in winning in arcade games, but that's just arcade, realistic is what I want to excel at.

I gotta say, while i understand their frustration as I've run into that too, I also know that I'm not a great player. It's all in position, taking the right shot and knowing weaknesses including your own. Plus some help with RNJeesus.. lol
Phly, keep up the videos, when i need to smile after getting stomped on WT too hard I watch some of your videos and remember that even though i've played for years I don't play often so i'm not as good as i could be.
Same I took a break from the game and id consider myself below average not the bottom of most matches most of the time in the middle and occasionally top 4
I took a like 4 months break and now I get an average of 3 kills a game lol

You should play the pbv 302 BILL. It’s essentially a 2.3 spaa with BILL Atgms which give it a higher br. BILL Atgms are basically higher pen tow-2bs.
Honestly. Top tier is just a little scuff in general with all the classified stuff. One day we will have all this stuff de-classified and everything will be good again. Once the military has X-wings and Tie fighters.
The HSTV-L is fantastic, you just actually have to aim with it as opposed to the 600 pen round MBT's.

It’s not a skill issue…on the top 1% of those HSTVL kills that result in total BS shells not killing. That’s almost never happening, and the posts on Reddit are whenever it does happen, which is so, so rare
The real issue with the HSTV-L is that top tier players are accustomed to playing on easy mode. So any time they don't get a one shot it must be a bug or bias.
curious as to why people are complaining about it now? the performance of the 75mm has been the same for a while? at least based on Phly's old HSTV L vids.

Well, if you compare it to the 2S38, the Russian one is better in pretty much everything (surprise surprise, like with 99/100 things in WarThunder). Better reload, radar, proxy fuse rounds, better spalling, more ammo..

I think 10.3 was the sweet spot, unless they give it 1 second reload and proper penetrating value at think 320 then 10.7 is justified. Like why the 2s38 with like 220 pen and .5 second reload and gen 3 thermals, and hold more ammo is at 9.7.
i would honestly be fine with it at 11.0 with those buffs plus the inaccurate weight
Because 2S38 is very easy to kill because it's based on BMP-3
@@strategiccommander4736 That I will have to disagree, the middle section is hollow and it a 50/ 50 if you hit it the ammo and it explode. At least hitting the direct front where all crew members are at is also 50/50. I either kill all the crew or one. At least with the m1 abrams 105 which needs a better round.

god i love the HSTV-L, i only tend to go for ammo racks if it's from the side and they're moving fast, if i can in any way stop it, i'll typically shoot out the engine first, then the barrel when they're stationary. Works wonders usually.

2S38 has the defacto stupidest damage model in game. You can shoot the crew a million times and they'll take 0 damage.

My only problem with the HSTVL is the incredibly shit post-pen damage it has if you don't directly hit ammo. However, that is not limited to just the HSTVL, but the Chinese M41 with the 76mm APFSDS & the fast Italian boi whose name I can't recall with the 60mm. A BMP's 30mm has more post-pen damage than these 3 vehicles which is incredibly stupid. And I'm fine with the HSTVL having low post-pen damage if Gaijin would simply come out and say, "Yes, we lowered its post-pen damage for balance". Because the HSTVL is incredibly powerful. Those other two vehicles though really should have better post-pen damage for their darts.

They have the nerve to complain, if you want to see apfsds with literally 0 spalling and fragmenting, look no further than the 2s38. And don't get me wrong, the 2s38 is really good and the spall nerf is there for balance, just saying, this is not in anyway an isolated case of a way to nerf a tank/vehicle.
rounds dont spall? just memorize the location of every crew members vital organs and remember 1 to the head 2 to the chest.
