look at the back where the diffuser vents are. They have fitted brake lights and indicators. They have also fitted indicators just to the side of the headlights.
@bkvj While you own the car, you can't necessarily take it home as it's not street legal. You purchase the car from Ferrari, then Ferrari stores the car and you designate which track you want to take it to and Ferrari will sponsor the track event and transport the car to that specific track for you to drive on.
@sushlet The models are only sold in Europe. Units can be imported, but not owned, in any other continent. The FXX package was reported to cost 1.5 million euros (excluding taxes) (2.1mil USD),[1] including the car and the services provided by Ferrari.
I don't know the specifics on the FXX, but in general, race and track cars often lack: emissions controls (catalytic converters etc), quiet enough mufflers, glass windshield (required in some places), sufficient ground clearance (if car's too low not practical on street, illegal in some places), full brake and turn signal lights, and bright enough head lights.
No problem. That's what they go for. When Ferrari does their specialty vehicles like F-40 F-50 and Enzo, they're usually followed up by a race version. The race versions (FXX, F-50 GT) go to hand selected race teams. Those people already know before making the purchase how much these vehicles will be sold for and know they're the best of the best
@aieljose they have street legal versions. and the logic is, the veyron was made for the streets where as the fxx was made for the people who take their cars to the race tracks on the weekend. the only reason ferrari even sells cars is to make money for their race team and if you buy a ferrari you understand that and its prolly the reason you buy it. the fxx is built for the track which means the exhaust is prolly illegal and there are other safety functions on it not ready for the streets
it's one of the main reasons. lights and the infamous 5mph reverse/ rear end collision test. these two factors are why the mazeratti mc-12 took soo long to become street legal
It depends on the compliancing laws of the country where the car is to be driven. For instance, here in Australia, an Enzo isn't even street legal. I doubt this was a mission for EDO to showcase their abilities. Just a really cool car that they could film. BTW, I agree that it would be near impossible to modify an FXX for more/less power.
I've seen and heard THIS car while they checked the brakes (the time it took until the car stood still). I was like 1 feet away and was able to touch it!! (The tuner is about 8 miles from my hometown^^)
i think its exclusive black but not sure tho... and yes the reventon is crazy, i like the shape or it, it looks like a futurist car which make it unique
It's because the normal car doesnt have a catalytic converter that stands up for street req, the standard exhaust is also too loud, and the tires doesnt meet road spec I think.
@blessed871129 According to the offical records...1 FFX is owned by privatly in USA...its in his Museum, Ferrari let him have it and 6 is owned by Sultan of Brunie...and rest are just for Racing purposes kept by Ferrari and only brought out on track days...
edo has many good things, but there are no videos with people driving them around in cities or something. I had at least expected to see some video from Dubai or something here on RUclips with an edo car, but no. They have made this FXX, a Murcielago with over 700 hp and a Maserati MC12 Corsa road legal version (The sister-car to this FXX)
@thing503 The Ferrari FXX is a high performance race car built by automobile manufacturer Ferrari in Maranello, Italy. The FXX is based on the street-legal Enzo, production of the FXX began in 2005, im almost 99% sure you have to own a ENZO and they will mod it into this"street legal version" not the same as the track FXX that ferrari makes you keep in italy lol
all a car has to have to be street lagal is lights, a plate and signals. power is not an issue when determining lagality. All that has to be passed considering the performance is emmisions.
@aieljose coz ferrari wont let people take the FXX on the road, its purely used on their track by people who own the fxx. or by ferraris drivers. thats it.
On the other issue of Auto Italia, they tested the Maserati MC12 Corse(which is a downgrade of the FXX), and it hit 0-200km/h in 6 seconds dead, and it anly has 750bhp!(the Bugatti takes 7.4 seconds to do the same). Howerever it only managed 340kmh flatout due to the drag caused by the spoilers. But nonetheless, I wonder how long it'd take this FXX to hit 200kmh(bearing in mind it has 860bhp)...
Doing 250 miles an hour, while feeling like your going 65 on any old highway... that's not over-engineering, that's true dedication. I would take the FXX, trust me, I love Ferrari, but there's a reason Top Gear called the Veyron the car of the decade.
Top Gear only puts the cars that can clear a speed bump, regardless of it being a street legal car or not, as seen with the street legal f1 car. as the FXX featured on the show was an inch off the ground, and with no adjustable shock-absorbers, they could not put it on their board (I)
Its the street-legal race car version of Ferrari F60 Enzo, just like McLaren F1 GT and Maserati MC12. It is legalized in streets by collectors and car fanatics, and it is common this days.
Awesome car, simply put, but let's hear it! It really has a fantastic sound. I'm disappointed that this video didn't give more of a recording. TopGear does have a great video that displays the FXX's true sound. Performance and looks are important, but sound makes a Ferrari, a Ferrari.
On Top Gear they said that owners are not allowed to take it home. Ferrari will transport it to track days for you and then take it back to the factory afterwards
The car is street legal by European rules and regulations, but it would need more noticeable brake lights and turning signals for it to be street legal here. I might get away with or without fog lights but you would have to check with your state when you register the car.
@Reverseflush yeh you can buy a corvette and it will be the same as some slower model ferraris like the maranello or f430, but remember they were 120k, the cheapest ferraris built and the corvette is only 20 below that !! i know what you mean, you want a stripped out race car with nothing in it. dont forget ferraris are all about bringing F1 tech and putting into street cars, like all the traction controll systems and padell shift gear box. if you want raw build your own, you can buy kit cars
and besides that. the sound that it makes isnt legal for the street, there are no flashlight for noticing direction( dunno what it's called) it's an ordinary Fxx
@Thomazz46 there officially 30 FXX's made this one is i guess the only street legal one and its number 29 there are also evolutzione FXX's but that was a mod package (:
true, but if you look at pictures of a ferrari FXX, you see them on every Fxx. and maybe it are breaklights, i think it's reflectors, it doesnt make it streetlegal
i thinks it's odd to have the exhaust where the original Ferrari tail lights would be, i think it's more pleasing to see them at the bottom than the top. But besides that, that is one sexy looking car.
@Reverseflush many years ago ferrari were raw, like the f40, f50 and older models, but dont forget in most countries many laws have changed so ferrari and other makers cannot build cars like they did 25 years ago !! they must meet emission levels and green house levels and meet safety standards, ect.... we are in a different age, legends like the f40 will never be seen again thanks to laws. i believe after the release of the 458 and 599gto ferrari are still years ahead of competition ...
Yeah I have that one, and you are right. i just got that actually. Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't really gotten into it. I have tried racing the LMPs though. It's more comical than realistic, but all well.
lol "maybe it's only in the us" the us is actually one of the only places where you could almost get anything on the road (except for when it's an import, that doesn't have big enough bumpers, safety belts that can't hold the extra avarage citizen weight or doesn't have airbags) but anyways, the tail lights are under the exhaust tips, the white LED squares, just like on lemans and f1 racing vehicles, are very bright when lit and obviously do their job as being camouflaged very well
i work @ ferrari dealer in holland, and we had also a FXX from a customer in our showroom. and it's bullcrap that Ferrari keeps them in Maranello. You just aren't allowed to drive one
@bmw2go11 Maybe, but I still think that Ferrari would'nt let them do it cuz they have only made 25 of them... and as you probably know you need to have 3 or 4 ferraris before Ferrari will let you buy the Enzo so I think you will have to have more than that before they will let you buy the FXX... So I don't think they will let you rebuild their car when they only has produced 25 of them..
@blessed871129 It's made by a tuning company in Germany (I think?). They do this to a standard (lol makes it sound so boring) Enzo. It has more power than an FXX (somehow) and they charge around £250,000 for the conversion, so not many people will actually get the chance to drive one of these seeing as only 399 enzos (+ one for the pope to auction off for charity) and quite a few have been crashed. Plus if you have an enzo you'll probably think it's fast enough anyway :)
it could of been built on a salvage enzo's vin.. as far as i know, no FXX Ferraris were sold to private companies such as edo.. These cars were only avaliable to individuals who were long time ferrari customers. they cant even leave Europe with these cars, a documentation would have to be filled to export the car to another European country directly to a certified racing circuit, and returned with a short period of time.. Ferrari rules make this car imposible for road use..
well they wont allow it to be street legal as is but if you make some adjustments with 250 grand and you have the pink slip to the car there's not much that Ferrari can do about it so they wont allow the *unmodified* version of it on the road but there's not much that they can do if you modify it and make it street legal with registration...
the reason is simple. people are more concentrated when they drive faster. I know that from myself. When I drive 130 kph or 160 kph, I get tired after a while. When Im driving 230 kph Im really concentrating. And thats why the others are concentrating too, cause they have to expect somebody coming with high speeds from behind, when they want to change the lane.
Unfortunately for the F50 GT, however, they only made 4 or 5 so the chances of seeing the FXX or any F-40 LM are much greater than seeing the F-50 GT. All great cars, all similar in their purpose, yet they were all executed in slightly different fashions based on technology at the time
they only made so many fxx's, and all were sold before production, the drivers had to go through an 8 week driving course just to own one. there was such a waiting list only the top of the line could be one, there were many requirements like having owned atleast 3 ferraris and having driven a ferrari for so many years. i dont think youre going to be able to get one.
so how does this happen?? as far as i knew the only person who was able to keep his ferrari fxx was schumacher and all the rest are held by ferrari except for when they have one of their 4 or 8 "track days" a year where all the people who bought these cars get flown out (or driven) to a track, get their own pit crew and get to race around in these cars all day long
ok, i guess i was wrong... the enzo xx was made to imitate the fxx and make it street legal^^(it also has a little bit more power ;-)) I was pretty sure, cause they had this number on the car (x/29, i dont remember the exact number, that was about 3 years ago^^) and a signature of Schumacher (i dont know if this was real) Anyway, seeing this car, especially hearing it, was great. Incorrect. When the FXX program is finished, each owner takes full custody of the car. One decided he wanted to drive his on the street, so he took it to Edo. You can tell by the exhaust note alone that it differs greatly from the standard road car.
@cavaderblood but only because that was what it was designed for. these are two different cars designed for two different things put the veyron and fxx on the Nürburgring and the veyron would loose.
considering the 06 version of the track FXX was 1.92 million, and that this was modified by edo competition to be street legal, I'd say close to 3 million
this thing is too good for streets. It deserves a track
look at the back where the diffuser vents are. They have fitted brake lights and indicators. They have also fitted indicators just to the side of the headlights.
Yes they do. Look at 1:03 -- see the white square things in the bottom opening below the exhaust? Those are LED tail lights and turn signals.
i love that the tail pipes are where you'd expect the tail light to be haha
@bkvj
While you own the car, you can't necessarily take it home as it's not street legal. i saw on topgear that you can buy a street legal slick tires, the race one isnt legal
but there is a street legal slick tires
True! didnt notice them. Only the huge exaust tips are the light of a car are usualy :P.
I've seen and heard THIS car while they checked the brakes (the time it took until the car stood still). I was like 1 feet away and was able to touch it!!
(The tuner is about 8 miles from my hometown^^)
What a machina! Sounds like and F1 going down the street! This must be the ultimate weapon for the road!
I'm not sure really, but for the road I don't think you can have race/slick tires. Thats why they changed them I think.
the rear lights are below the exhausts in the secondary brake vent exits.
i think its exclusive black but not sure tho... and yes the reventon is crazy, i like the shape or it, it looks like a futurist car which make it unique
It's because the normal car doesnt have a catalytic converter that stands up for street req, the standard exhaust is also too loud, and the tires doesnt meet road spec I think.

That is a phenomenal piece of engineering...
btw there is tail lights.....0:29 if you watch from there you can see them on the bottom
I like how the exhaust pipes are where the brake lights should be.
On the other issue of Auto Italia, they tested the Maserati MC12 Corse(which is a downgrade of the FXX), and it hit 0-200km/h in 6 seconds dead, and it anly has 750bhp!(the Bugatti takes 7.4 seconds to do the same). @Thomazz46 yup and also someone owns an Edo Competition EXX thats an Enzo with FXX parts and engine
@cavaferblood the FXX is on Top Gear's power lap records. As I saw, it made first place with 1:10.
@Boocho88 Yes it does. You can see them too. They do not look like traditional indicators.
Doing 250 miles an hour, while feeling like your going 65 on any old highway... that's not over-engineering, that's true dedication. I would take the FXX, trust me, I love Ferrari, but there's a reason Top Gear called the Veyron the car of the decade.
@justGrown94 go to 0:32 . Those are the lights in the bottom right corner of the car.
Top Gear only puts the cars that can clear a speed bump, regardless of it being a street legal car or not, as seen with the street legal f1 car. as the FXX featured on the show was an inch off the ground, and with no adjustable shock-absorbers, they could not put it on their board (I)
those exhausts look so awesome
Good Work! Outstanding presentation on an awesome super car!
Its the street-legal race car version of Ferrari F60 Enzo, just like McLaren F1 GT and Maserati MC12. It is legalized in streets by collectors and car fanatics, and it is common this days.

@FerrarisRock If you look better there are some led light down near the diffusers!
nice video - engine sound was good too in the end

because it had racing tires.. or so they said. i doubt it could clear a speed bump as well
@MarcSchrewe
1. Rear lights are below exhaust
2. You can put one on
3. Yes it does. look at 1:21
4.cant argue that
5. why is that not legal
Michael Schumaner or whatev. has his own FXX as well... And it's black.... It looks so sick.
and besides that. the sound that it makes isnt legal for the street, there are no flashlight for noticing direction( dunno what it's called) it's an ordinary Fxx
the ultimate ferrari in her road legal version !!! just awsome
Edo Competition somehow managed to take an FXX and had it modified for street use, notice the rear lights installed?
@Andrew87890 true 1150 for the fxx with 850 hp and over 2tons for the bugatti with 1001hp
@Thomazz46 there officially 30 FXX's made this one is i guess the only street legal one and its number 29 there are also evolutzione FXX's but that was a mod package (:
The FXX has GPS tracking and is com-linked to the Scuderia headquarters. If you drive it without permission, they will just use the remote shutoff.
I have seen two of these already on in west hollywood and a black one in west la today. It roars
true, but if you look at pictures of a ferrari FXX, you see them on every Fxx. and maybe it are breaklights, i think it's reflectors, it doesnt make it streetlegal
@FerrarisRock it's street legal in germany. built by request of one customer
the beginning of this video is freaking epic!!!
I'd like to see the FXX and the Keonigsegg CCX go at it. That would be a great duel.
could listen to that engine all day long
i thinks it's odd to have the exhaust where the original Ferrari tail lights would be, i think it's more pleasing to see them at the bottom than the top. But besides that, that is one sexy looking car.

Sounds great. Could do without the white strip down the center though.
Exhaust pipes replaced brakelights, I like this!
i live for cars. I cant get enough of them. I breathe exhaust, drink gas, and eat donuts. my cell phone doesnt ring, it revs. I don't sleep, i idle
Yeah I have that one, and you are right. i just got that actually. Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't really gotten into it. I have tried racing the LMPs though. It's more comical than realistic, but all well.

fxx based on enzo
fxx was made in 2005, 3 years after the enzo
i work @ ferrari dealer in holland, and we had also a FXX from a customer in our showroom. and it's bullcrap that Ferrari keeps them in Maranello. You just aren't allowed to drive one
@bmw2go11

fxx is like a super version of the enzo... it looks tight ;D
@FerrarisRock
at 1:04 im assuming the lights are below the exhaust pipes..the 2 square white things.
it could of been built on a salvage enzo's vin.. as far as i know, no FXX Ferraris were sold to private companies such as edo.. thats why EDO made it, a ferrari evo with a bodykuit and stickers so it looks the biz, but is still road legal. :)
well they wont allow it to be street legal as is but if you make some adjustments with 250 grand and you have the pink slip to the car there's not much that Ferrari can do about it so they wont allow the *unmodified* version of it on the road but there's not much that they can do if you modify it and make it street legal with registration...
@Mikeystone1 the fxx did it with racing tiers!
the reason is simple. people are more concentrated when they drive faster. I know that from myself. When I drive 130 kph or 160 kph, I get tired after a while. there was such a waiting list only the top of the line could be one, there were many requirements like having owned atleast 3 ferraris and having driven a ferrari for so many years.
i dont think youre going to be able to get one.
Just believe it: Thats a FXX which has been "made" with slightly mods road legal in Germany by Edo Competition.
so how does this happen?? as far as i knew the only person who was able to keep his ferrari fxx was schumacher and all the rest are held by ferrari except for when they have one of their 4 or 8 "track days" a year where all the people who bought these cars get flown out (or driven) to a track, get their own pit crew and get to race around in these cars all day long
You don't actually need turn signals - you can use hand ones.
it also has an upgraded shifting system
ok, i guess i was wrong...
the enzo xx was made to imitate the fxx and make it street legal^^(it also has a little bit more power ;-))
I was pretty sure, cause they had this number on the car (x/29, i dont remember the exact number, that was about 3 years ago^^) and a signature of Schumacher (i dont know if this was real)
Anyway, seeing this car, especially hearing it, was great. Unfortunatly, i was not able to see it driving, it was only on the brake test bench...
@racedriver52
i just watched number 28 fxx that is black
M.S fxx is only special because IT IS the last fxx to be built & finshed in black
the last 10 seconds are the best!!!
@MattLoaf92 its a stock enzo ferrari modified to look like a fxx
@FerrarisRock apparently you missed the LED lights BELOW the exhaust. Fail.
@sushlet this is true. they only made 30 and are only for the track. why dont you buy yourself a honda s2000 i had one of them and it a great car.
yeh i see your point but i think its like the the F50 and the F50 GT
@Mikeystone1 @edusamayoa is right. The FXX isn't street legal stock, and it's extremely hard to make it street legal. Look up the power lap times for Top Gear, the FXX isn't on there. The Bugatti Veyron SS is first.
Oh lord...this is sick. Sick!
I'm lost for words...
@FerrarisRock the taillights are under the exhaust pipes the little white squares haha
the car is so fast and handles so good!
i drove 2 of them, one in forza motorsports 2 and in pgr4, they kicked ass. lol
forza ferrari
I think it has something to do with a requirement of dual catalytic converters.
