First and foremost, your videos are great. I just started subscribing to them.
I think the Revit certification is worth having. I’ve been using Revit since 2009 am I’ve been certified since 2010 and I feel the exam isn’t easy (if it was easy everyone would have it, right?) I feel like the Revit certification exam is more about how certain tasks function and what happens when you don’t do a step rather than just asking you to draw a staircase, for example. When we interview candidates where I work, I give them a Revit exercise as part of their interview. I think it’s fairly simple, I have them perform basic functions that are expected in their day to day duties; only a few have gotten 100%. If I see a candidate with a Revit certification on their resume, I would want to interview them for sure.

Hello Dustin, Without any prior professional experience, I got certified by Autodesk for Certified Professional In Revit last December. I have been applying, and have applied for a few entry-level Revit modeler positions after receiving the certification, but I have not received a single invitation for an interview. What should I do, This is very demotivating.

Well, it’s all good with online training but I have a few thoughts of mine.
I learnt SolidWorks and AutoCAD all by myself, online and some offline help from friends. However, all I ever got after knowing was minor jobs and freelances. I realized to get really formal and get a good job going, they needed me to show a proof of study, with a certificate. They didn’t give me a chance to show them what I knew without me presenting them a certificate. So I concluded I needed the certificate, not as an end game, but rather so that I could get a voice to actually show how good I was.
To me, certification is necessary, it’ll open the door and take you in. Your experiences and past projects will keep you in, but might not get you in.

this show the type of people you'll be working with, the mentality and work culture. I'd rather not work in a place where they do not trust my abilities but will blindly rely on a piece of paper/certificate because these days you can cheat and get them and so many people fake it.

My thoughts exactly. If your resume cannot let you express your skills as it is then you better have a certification if youre looking for attention.

I totally agree with this, I've paid for all sorts of certification and courses on lots of different types of software and even interview and business training. I can safely say the best way is to get online or open a book and give your self the challenge of learning. I've learnt far more from teaching myself than from any course!

    Balkan Tutorials>>>>>>Any revit certification course.
Edit: I am certified in AutoCAD and Ps. It took me 3 months to get my course done and get a certificate after passing a test.
    Not worth it.
If you need a certificate to put in your resume, get it.
If your purpose is to get skilful, Internet is all you need.

What you are saying is absolutely correct like for me when I was in the university I went with a couple of friends to one architecture school to pay for Autocad classes and the person charged us very expensive I couldn't afford but my friends did. I decided to lend on my own with the help of youtube the came to realize I was creating design that the even thought I was instead using a different solfware and the moment the realize I was doing better than them the quite from the classes.

Thank you so much for your valuable suggestion. I was thinking 💭 to take an online course to learn this revit software, but now I won't. I think you are right and have I've experienced it while learning autocad. I without certification have more command on autocad than my frnds with certification. I'm fully agree with you 😂😉

So true.. I know so many people who're having the certificates but don't have the skill to validate the same. I was always thinking of getting certified but the cost always kept be back, instead I kept updating my works on my website and then after every skill I mentioned I associated a link with the skill and project and claim my skills.
Anyways thanks for the information. No certification required! Be great at your own work

I totally agree! I've been teaching software since 2007 & I'm basically self-taught. The courses I have sat through have often been tedious, badly-planned and irrelevant - basically a waste of time & money! I try to make my own training relevant to industry standards & practices, something that is rarely covered in classes.

I’m an AutoCAD user with nearly 15 years of experience who hasn’t used CAD regularly since 2011. In my job searches it’s been brought to my attention that my time away is having an effect on my getting hired, but without practical work, I can’t get the experience I need. I feel like a college student all over again 😑. I’m hoping that certification, after prepping for the exam on my own will get my AutoCAD cred back. Thanks

I may have word my comment wrongly. Not everyone needs a certification, if you are looking for employment to teach the software then it’s a big plus. I work for myself therefore I don’t need it, when a customer calls me for a job they want to know that I have the skills because they don’t know nothing about the software I use, they want drawings that the city can pass. To make it in architecture or engineering you have to get experience through work or school because they teach you the principles and disciplines including site plans, foundation and the whole works, not just to draw fancy buildings, a lot of people learn how to draw fancy buildings but they don’t know the course, it’s a start yes but that’s just architectural visualization,. The Balkin Architect has a lot of tutorials that are very useful and educational, I watch them a lot because I am still learning

hello balkan you are at the point.but i felt my situation could be likened to other software practitioners who could be suffering from the same challenge like me.i am a high school diploma holder in building and construction who can run staad pro, revit ,autocad, robot etc.but i always get this challenging question.do you have any certificate, where did you learn them.so in my humble opinion getting certified is not for yourself.its just to get yourself approved by the world.same challenge jesus christ suffered from the scribes.they couldnt believe someone with no formal education could demonstrate such knowledge.

I am from South Africa. Every job I've seen advertised has asked for a "Valid Draughting Certificate" nobody even commented on my online CV / resume. So, after 10 years in the field I did a one year draughting certificate. The most valuable thing I got from the course was my laptop. So, wham, I got a call from a recruiter and what did she say? She said that her search picked up that I had a "Valid Draughting Certificate" and that's what they are looking for. So, now since then I have done an Autodesk Autocad Certification and I am in the process of preparing for an Autodesk Revit Certification. So I am doing it to get noticed so that I can get in for an interview.

Hello Balkan The same goes for Architectural schools..certification.
i found out tht instead of having wasted hours in design laboratory and some randomly assembled curriculum its more usefull to copy the hole Architectural Manual,
Some building fundamental books by hand and study the IBS (international building standard ), watch you tube conferences and tutorials given actually by the real people in the market.I have done this after my masters and it took 1 year more for me to finally sound professional and not academic...

I'm also an archi student and you have no idea how stressful the course is. and also how much sleepless nights with nooo vacations in between semesters. And for what. After 7 years of educational qualifications you can work for a small salary under a big architect until yu get old to have yur own practice. Life is too short for shit

In my country (Burkina Faso), the general mentality is that if you don't have an internationally recognized piece of paper that backs your claims, you're not going to make a huge profit out of your skills. In my opinion I think it depends on areas and your objectives. For instance, I give courses to local universities and A/E professionals and having a certification will undoubtedly multiply x10 my revenue. SO i'm saving money to get me certified by Autodesk & Adobe.
