Watching this at work Rainer, wll try it when I get home, yes I believe I can do it...and yes I am distracted by your whisky collection!!. As always, many thanks.
Thanks, Rainer. An excellent lesson, which captures BB’s style and exquisite sense of rhythm perfectly. If you’d consider posting a lesson on Brownie McGhee’s ‘Walk On’ ...
Another great tutorial, I love your take on these traditional blues numbers. You manage to stay with the feel of the piece but you also add some great chord changes/alternatives in to great effect. I'd look forward to tutorials on your fabulous ragtime number, Big Hardy or Deep River Blues. Btw, Your English is fine, damn sight better than my German. Thanks
@@rainerbrunn-countrybluespi514 Greetings from a Scotsman living in Malaysia! I see some familiar looking bottles in the background. Whisky and guitar, does one need anything else? :) I look forward to checking more of your videos.
was going to moan about the slow pace ... so had a listen to big bill the 52 version here on the YT. and fair play you hear it, those open strings ringing out, and those subtle note variations that you obviously heard and try to show in the slow ...and Bill's keen sense of the micro rhythm change's is well worth trying to emulate if it adds extra technique as it can be applied to any tune. being getting into that Zen moment is knowing when to slip some very cleverly worked phrase(s) and making it sound just a lucky coincidence and just little things make the difference Bill's outro section is is a prime example of perfection and his boot stamping the time
Rainer, a huge thank you and greetings from Greece. You capture and share the heart of this tune, which is that swing, that motion. I've been messing with that tune for some time now, but yours has been the most valuable lesson. Thank you again! Well done! First person on RUclips who got the song right. The rest of the guys just try to mimick the Clapton version which lacks the feel and is not well played in my opinion. Subscribed! I was trying to find out for a few damn hours how Big Bill plays the 1st(I) after that slide a few years back. If this video existed I would have got it right much faster :) Thanks!
it´s a Blazer&Henkes San Antonio and I use a blend of sunrise magnetic and fishman piezo pickup. But I never use the pickups for my videos and very seldom at live gigs. Only when absolutely necessary. Greetings from Germany!
Great lesson. I can get most of pretty well but have trouble playing with my thumb on the low strings while playing the high strings at the same time. Do you have any suggestions on how to get better/practice that? Or is it just something that kinda clicks after you do it a million times?
Start at a slow tempo and practice the bass part alone until you can do it very consistently. Then add a strum of the chord or double stop on the off beat, in between the boom Chuck. Then build into more complicated right hand patterns, Tommy Emmanuel has a great short finger style lesson on RUclips.
