Thank you so much for watching! Хобби
Omg...you are a miracle worker...I never thought anyone could ever convince me to buy a single basin -- until now! ☺️ Thank you so much for your thorough, thoughtful, "relevant" critique! It actually means a whole lot with you coming from a double-basin household like I did. 😄
Okay the tub for the dirties is genius! I’m convinced to get a single basin now lol
Same!! Thank you fir the very informative and point blank video 😃
Spot on! I discovered all these things 4 years ago when I finally moved into a house with a single basin farmhouse sink and I would never go back to a double sink if I can help it!
I love the look of the single kitchen sink & after watching this video, I'm convinced that it is still as practical if not more than the double.
I watched this video about a year ago when deciding on purchasing my 36" single basin apron sink. For all the reasons that you love it, so do I! It's the best sink we have ever used! My husband tells me how much he loves this sink every day! Thank you for the great review!
Yes, this video is 4 years old, but you gave me even more reasons to look forward to my future large basin sink.
In our next house that we’re moving to in a few weeks, there is no dishwasher. The only place we can fit one has room for an 18 inch, not a regular size.
I have a collapsible, plastic tub that I thought I would use in our camper, but I don’t use it.
Your idea about the tub was something I hadn’t thought of! The smaller dishwasher perhaps won’t seem so small now.
New subscriber! 😊👍🏼
I've been going back and forth about sinks recently. Wanting the beauty of a large basin but unsure of best washing strategy. You convinced me I can go with what I love the look of and still have a functional sink! Thank you!!!
Oh I am so glad! I know you'll love it!
You convinced from this video that I want a single basin sink and Love all the tips!! Thank you!
Oh yay! I love it so so much and I know you will too!
@@TIDBITSandCompany Thanks almost bought the wrong thing.
Sold! I am a double-sinker and you answered all my questions! Now I am going forward for the single basin. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful. I was always a double sink person, but you have definitely changed my mind. This will make my decision much easier. Thank you!!!
The cutting board over the bin is genius and looks great!!!!
I was totally anti-single sink for the kitchen until today. This is so amazing and I think I want a single sink now. Thank you for the in depth information.
YES! We are remodeling our kitchen, thank you for this, I wondered why anyone would want a sink like this. Now that I watched the video, I have now decided that this is the sink that I will get.
Thank you! We're almost finished planning our new kitchen, and I nearly chose a divided sink. Thanks to you I've decided on one large work station sink.
Yes!!! You opened my eyes !!!! I will be getting a single basin sink in my new kitchen. Thank you 🙏🏽
Very helpful! This video helped to convince me that my wife liked would actually be great! Now that we are in our new house, this video helped me see how I can practically do dishes in the farmhouse sink.
Love your sink and sink accessories! Thank you for your advice.
I can't imagine dishes becoming "slimy" before I washed them.
Exactly! A tub works perfect. Good for leaving dishes and cutlery contained and can have water added to give a bit of a soak before going in the dishwasher to help get rid of egg or starchy food remnants. Single sink 100% 😊
My first time researching about what type of sink to get and the first vedio I clicked was yours and it was enough to make my decision 😀 thank you 🙏
Love this video and thanks for sharing all the benefits. I am converted from double bowl to single bowl!
I had a delightful time watching your video and "laughing at the chores which seemed to be easier to do with your method of using that sink".
Your flower arrangement in the kitchen sink is beautiful. It took the tired feeling of daily work away and refreshed the focus back to how nice the sink looks.
Just remodelled my kitchen and put in a sink just like yours and I love love love love it! It is so great to be able to fully immerse big soup pots and large cookie sheets completely in the water.
I move alot, and if there is a double sink in the house, it is ripped out before I even hang up the clothes. Don't know how people can waste so much time trying to soak or clean and rinse a frying pan never mind cookie sheets or roasters. There are large singles with 12" second sink if you have a garberator or like the freedom of that second access to the taps but once you have a large single, you never go back
This is exactly what I need to love this one damn giant sink in my new house. Thank you!!
Love your kitchen! That sink is stunning. We love the idea of using that extra bin to turn a single basin into a double basin. Best of both worlds!
So funny as we embark on our whole house remodel, I picked a 1 basin kitchen sink too. So versatile. Yours is quite pretty.
Yes, you have opened my eyes! I have never considered using a tub before, thank you :)
Ok I'm sold. Thanks for the video!
I love your sink. I have moved into a 1965 ranch home with tiny double sinks. I'm getting ready to start gutting it. I've been hunting for the perfect single sink. I like the lip that is on yours that hold the cutting board... but I also love your windows!! Glancing over at my kitchen from the couch, I can absolutely see a bay of windows replacing the single one over the sink. Thank you for your video. Will have to see what else you've got on your page!!
Thank you ! I have always loved the look of a single basin sink but never understood how they could function well. I'm convinced now that I will definitely have one in our new Barndominium.
Hello! So glad you found this video helpful! I was very unsure at first too, but you'll LOVE it! Everyone who has moved to them feels the same. Thank you so much for watching!
Omg! Great video, you have convinced us, we are getting that sink. Thank you for doing this video. 👍
I almost decide to take double sink tomorrow in my design center tomorrow... now I will definitely go for a single sink
So well thought out thanks. You just clenched my decision!
Great video - so clear, well done and helpful - thank you!
Excellent video. I'm sold. Thank you!
I was like you - ALWAYS had a double basin sink and washed dishes with soapy water on one side and rinsed in the other. After recently getting new countertops, I still went with double sinks but they installed really DEEP sinks that came with grates (extra maintenance - have to scrub the grates at least once a week🙁). I’ve always stacked dirty dishes on countertops but hate the way that looks. Recently, I’ve started putting a few dishes in the sink and squirting dish soap on the dishes and using a hand held scrubber sponge and then rinsing and it goes by so much faster than the 9ld way. I can finally see the benefit of using a big single basin tub. Too late for me, but I totally.y agree with all of your points. Your kitchen remodel is beautiful. I really like your faucet and that you put marble where your faucet goes - very clever!
Thank you so much for your video. It has given me my answer to which type I want. When we bought our house way back when the first thing I did was replace the small double stainless steel sink with a very large and deep double Blanco sink which I have loved . We are planning on moving in the near future and hubby asked if I want another sink like I have now and I got to thinking about it and wanted to do some researching. Cause as much as I love my sink there are still some things that aren't real practical with it. Many of which you have stated. I looked at the triple sinks for a bit but then it came to me that a single might be more functional like you have shown. So its a single sink for me. It will be perfect for what I need cause my needs are pretty much the same as yours Thank you again so very much for sharing and showing how practical and easy a single sink is to use.
I actually have a two basin stainless sink with, what I'll call 1/4 and 3/4 split of the basin size. It was purchased at a big hardware chain over 20 years ago. Everything but my biggest cooking sheet will fit in to soak and we still have the other side to drain cooking water or run a different temp to fill a water bottle etc. I also have a dishwasher, and it sounds like I sink wash my big stuff similar to you. However, I never see sinks configured like that anymore (I've seen 2/3, 1/3 available mail order but, you loose that big basin). Like you, in our camper I also use a wash tub. So if I ever need to replace my sink, you convinced me to go big! TFS
Were looking for new sink and counter top so this has been very helpful.
You've convinced me to get a single basin! Exactly the video I was looking for! (I've also only grown up with a double basin.)
Thank you so much for this video!!! I have been debating with myself on which type of sink I want to get. I have wanted a single for looks and space, but like you had said was worried about the amount of water I would use as well as being able to soak certain things when needed. Your idea of the plastic container was brilliant and helped to ease my mind. Thanks again :)
Thank you so much. I am considering going to a single basin and I was thinking some of the positives would be these exact points. Thank you for confirming I am thinking along the right direction. We, too, are renovating an RV and it seems things have to be multi-functional. That is what led me to these "work station" type sinks. Now I am thinking I want to replace my double sink in my house kitchen as well.
You have opened my eyes with this explanation
I wanted a single basin sink, but you gave me MORE reasons...Thanks!
A large single basin is a must in my household. With 9 kids, we do a lot of cooking with large pots and pans. I never miss having 2 basins which is what I grew up with. Love your blanco sink.
Ok, I feel better about my decision to get a single basin! Great ideas and reasons to get it! Thank you for breaking it down for me! 😁
Growing up we could not stack dishes, we had to clean them as soon as we were done with them. I was on the fence, but you have convinced me to get the single basin.
Just converted our sink to a single basin, and I love it! So practical annnd gorgeous!
Oh good! I still love mine so much!
Your tub idea is brilliant. The single large sink gives the area a very low-clutter appearance. I'm working on a copy of my existing kitchen, and the single basin sink is the main topic. It's the big stuff that gets you. The 24x18 cutting board, the turkey roaster, the pickling pot, rinsing the turkey, the casserole dishes, the pressure cooker. The main modification the new home will have that my current one doesn't, is a small water heater specifically for the kitchen. Instant hot water.
A double basin sink is nice in that you can have a dirty side and a clean side.
I was a skeptic, but you convinced me!
Great video, I am in the process of getting a new house and designing my dream kitchen. I never thought the decision of 1 or 2 basin sink could be so difficult. I grew up with a double sink. Years ago i a previous house i had a very large sink with a smaller basin. I LOVED the depth and size of the sink but found it difficult to utilize the smaller basin. I look forward to having my large basin sink back and using it to clean my larger cooking items will be a big plus. after watching your video it was an easy decision.
Just got my first huge single basin and I LOVE IT. Mine is a Blanco silgranite
omggg...I just scanned the content of your videos....LOVE THEM! I just subbed!!!!
Thank you for sharing! You just helped me with my decision. My husband wants 1 basin, I wasn't sure because of the functionality and water waste, You solved both problems
I’m converting!! I didn’t think I would like it but now it make complete sense
Yes, I think you did change my mind!
I love big sinks! I had a blanco in the house I just sold. I did notice that it started to pit. I didn’t have this model but I love all the features. The one thing I really loved my blanco sink for was washing large refrigerator drawers and shelves. It’s was also great for baby bath time too! I truly miss my sink.
Bathing my first grandchild was fun in my single deep sink. It's the little things....
thank you for this video because i never looked the single sink way.
This was good info to know. Thank you.
I prefer a large single basin sink as well. In my old home, I had a very nice "slop sink" in our laundry room (I hate the name but love the convenience.) I used it all the time. I could soak my metal shelves from my oven, the shelves from fridge, as well as wash a puppy, and the chicken equipment. I'm now stuck with a two partition, stainless steel sick. I miss my old deep sink!
just on time ....thank you so much for helping me make the best choice God bless you and your family
Yep! I'm sold. Now I want one.
Thank you so much for sharing this .. im redoing my kitchen.. and my sink is on the corner.. I wanted a double 😪 sink .. but in reality its not going to fit .. but you gave me ideas.. to adapt to a single tub . Again thank you so much
I just got mines put in today I love it 🥰
Wow. Food for thought
I have a double basin sink and use a dishpan on the counter to hold dirty ones, but now I can see how a larger, single basin sink would work very well! Thanks.
Agree, love my one large sink too!
I love to hear that you love them too. It's an adjustment, but I quickly learned to love it!
I use a dish wand and am in looovvve with that method. No dishes on the counter ever, dirty or clean. Thanks for your insights!
I recently bought my first house and I never realized how much I would miss my big sink! If it weren’t for this pandemic, I’d have been able to replace it by now!
The grandmas and great grandmas were right - a big basin with a washtub really is the best of all worlds. I'm older and I never liked it when i was young because all of the washtubs were ugly, utilitarian things and not pretty at all. Pure function. I also didn't like the habit of starting with clean, hot, soapy water and letting it cool and get murky throughout the day, but they did that because they didn't want to waste the hot water and soap and *we* don't have to do it that way. When I was a girl I'd set the cold washtub back on the hot stove to reheat it rather than stick my hand in nasty, cold dishwater. Funny thing, I never got yelled at for reheating the water, but none of the grown women ever bothered to do it themselves.
Later, the washtubs changed to ugly, plastic bins and I didn't like that, either. With that, I couldn't even set it on the stove to reheat. Then I *would* get yelled at for dumping it into a pain. That was my limit and when I grew up I went the double basin route. I recently decided to bite the bullet on the 'big sink/washtub' idea, but I had to find a pretty antique enamel pan for the washtub. I want both form and function and there really is no need to compromise. And yes, I DUMP THE NASTY WATER OUT and add more hot water throughout the day. It's 2023, for Pete's sake.
As far as the 'it would use more water and soap' idea that so many people think, ask yourself this: If you had to hand carry water from a river to do your dishes, would you use the most water-wasteful way to do your dishes? People have done the 'big basin with a washtub' thing for hundreds of years and they wouldn't have done it that way if it weren't efficient.
Thank you!! For this video!!
Thing of beauty!!!
I always thought a single basin sink was best, so much larger and I like to just use a plastic tub for dishes inside the sink that I can store under the sink when not in use, like they do in the UK.
So gorgeous!! Where did you get the kitchen handles? Currently renovating our kitchen and I need those handles ASAP 😊
I literally just ordered a large one bowl sink it looks more modern and practical
You've really made me consider a single sink. I have a huge bread bowl that is a pain to fit into a double sink. But your tips are making me think about getting a single bowl.
I’ve had both single and double. My current sink is double but I’m getting ready to redo my kitchen and I will definitely be switching back to a single sink.
Thank you!
When we redid our kitchen almost 5 years ago I knew I wanted a single basin, little did I know that was going to be the best decision ever… before that we had always had a double basin which was perfect to bathe our first 3 babies no need for the hassle to use a baby bathtub, I just laid down a towel and baby fit right in the sink…well a few months after the kitchen renovation we welcomed baby number 4, a precious little boy with Down Syndrome, well the thing with babies with DS is that they have low muscle tone and holding them to bathe is quite challenging, I was thrilled when I found out the baby bathtub we had bought for our first baby and had used but once perfectly fit in our huge single basin sink… haha sorry for the long story, I just love how convenient a single basin sink is.
This is exactly my method! I also have a huge singles basin, and love it! I take my busser tub to the table, and load everything in, and carry it to the sink.
Love that idea!
@@TIDBITSandCompany
I also, one time had a judgy person come over, and even thought I stress cleaned everything, I couldn't get to the dishes. So...I put my tub with all the dirties under the sink!!!😂
Love it. I want one
I love my new 36" single basin sink and we went with dark grey. Im not so crazy about the rack tho because you have to lift it to really clean all the scraps left behind. I like that it helps to protect the sink so I tried it but ended up taking it out. Maybe Ill give it another try again in the near future.
You are genius. After watching this I am convinced there is absolutely no reason to anything except a large single basin sink. I think a large 36" is the way to go.
EXCELLENT! What kind of faucet do you have???
I just bought a house with a single basin sink and I was wondering how I was going to manage it. Your video answered all my questions
I love your faucet
Where did you get it and what kind is it?
Very helpful. Any problems with staining the sink? TFS
I absolutely love your style and look forward to seeing what you do with your new home. Where did the shelves on the counter for the dishes come from?
Thank you so much! I found them antiqueing. I love them!
I can't agree more with you! I installed one 80cm sink in my country house a few years ago. Easy to clean, easy to hide dirry dishes, easy to prepare foods o big pieces of meat. Never again the double sink!
I have a single basin farm sink too, but not as big as yours. Can you tell me where you purchased the stainless still grate that sits on the floor of the sink? thanks for the video!
Hi there! Nice video. Question: We have well water with metals in it and need to know what material is the sink you demoed here and whether it resists staining, including orange metal and lime buildup. Thank you!
skillet handles not being able to fit in sinkmwill be my decision maker, your video was very helpdul,
I'm about to buy a new kitchen and I like how your sink is mounted so I'm actually curious about how to firmly mount this heavy sink underneath the countertop. It will even get heavier when filled with water & kitchenware.
Was on the fence, getting a single sink !
Love your video. But what about that gorgeous faucet? tell us about that! and where can I get one? (oops. I should have waited til the end. You mentioned your Blanco, so thank you!)
I just upgraded my whole kitchen and I thought I wanted a one basin sink but in the end I went for the double. I kind of for some crazy reason didn’t like the thought of having a single drain with the garbage food disposer. It tends to eventually get pretty nasty (the rubber part) after a while and I just like the thought of having one without that issue. I’m also glad I didn’t get mine too deep as well. I visited family yesterday and after washing dishes in a deeper sink, I realized it’s not to great for my back. But I do love the look of a single basin.
I understand your issues with the deep bowl single sink. I got a mat from Costco for about $10 and problem solved. It's a squishy sort of mat and it's amazing what a difference it makes. As far as the food disposer, I've never had an issue with the rubber cover getting nasty. I guess I keep it clean. However, I thought I would have a problem flushing the drain pipes. Nope - just cover the drain with the rubber cap, fill the sink halfway and remove cover. That vortex is so satisfying.
Thanks for mentioning about the depth of the sink and how it can potentially affect your back. Very helpful info.
You changed my mind. The only positive I thought was beauty and big dishes. My dilemma was how do you rinse and where do you put the dishes to dry. Don't like them drying on counter at home, yet that is where I have the dirty ones. ???? Mine dry in sink at home. Yet mine dry on counter top in RV. Now RV's have these sinks. I too, in my RV, put dirty dishes in a tub. Never thought of doing the dishes in the tub and using sink to rinse. TY
But..... I have thought of having side by side farmer sinks (this is what we call them in our area). Thank you for the helpful ideas.
Where did you get your sink protector that fits into your sink? Can you give me the amazon link for that please.
I had a large white porcelain sink and is scratched terribly. I finally replaced it with a stainless which I don’t like the look of it. Does yours scratch?
The partition is so outdated! One large single basin sink is perfect for today's world. The plastic tote is an excellent idea, I could even see in years to come sink manufacturers having matching removable bins for their single basin sinks.
We like to pile clean but wet dishes in one of the bowls to let them air dry. How do you dry your dishes?
