I figured id add that when the choke is on it creates a vacuum throughout the whole carb and actually draws more gas and less air. It means your engine is no longer able to suck enough gas thtough the lines because of blockage. Check the fuel diaphrams in the carb! Great video thanks for the help!

Correct. If the settings worked before, and no one messed with them; the jet adjustment is not the issue.

It will start and run with choke tick over without but, will not rev up just cuts out l have cleaned the carb 3 times still won't run properly.
There are no mixture adjusting screws any ideas.

Thanks for the video it helps me getting my weed eater back after being bogging in full throttle. When searching I only find video explaining engines with 2 adjusting screws, this the first I found explaining engines with just a single caprator adjusting screws. Now I get my engine back to work 😀😀 thanks...

The screw you're adjusting in this video is the high-speed jet. You can adjust it as you have shown, or a much more conventional method can be used, which is: 1. Start the engine, allow to warm to operating temp. 2. Pull throttle to high speed and hold, adjust the high-speed jet screw in/out to obtain the highest speed with as little vibration as possible. (That's it for the high-speed jet.)
In 99% of cases the low speed jet never needs tampering with, and improper setting can cause several other bad conditions. However, if you're ABSOLUTELY SURE you must change the low-speed jet setting, for most carburetors the jet is on the top of the carburetor covered by a polymer cap. Remove the cap, start the engine and allow to run at idle (about 3000 rpm), then SLOWLY adjust the low speed jet in/out until the smoothest operation is reached at the highest speed. Then reset the idle speed setting for running at about 3000 rpm. Re-install the polymer cap.
Either of these adjustments can easily be performed in 30 seconds or less.

    • @tonymayhew191
      @tonymayhew191 Год назад

It's been my experience that the L and H jets have nothing to do with this issue! Usually there is a chunk of crap stuck in the inlet side screen. Or if it is a 4cycle engine it's got crap stuck in the main jet and requires you to remove the fuel bowl and poke the end of a small spring in the hole in the jet. 😉

Just did a stihl fc?110 bush cutter with these symptoms so l took the carb appart assuming blockage not enough fuel. Did that twice to make sure l put carb back correctly...( pot is legal in Canada).
Felt rather frustated, checked a few more UTube vids, l started to hear the words " plugged spark arrestor" over+ over, sure enough that was the bulk of the problem. My early inspection will now include a look at the spark arrestor screen...
Enjoyed your video! Nice job! Thanks Perry

I've got and SGS 5 in 1 hardly used because its a pig to start. The main issue is that the compression is high and it kicks back whacking my knuckles. There is no problem with fuel flow. I decided to fit a new plug as it was black and sooty. It doesn't start easily on choke and I wondered if more air in would weaken the mix and reduce the compression. What do you think?

I have a very similar trimmer and it has on/off on the choke lever. Should the lever be in on(lower) position when startin the trimmer or in off(upper) position when starting it? I noticed the trimmer shuts down when I press the throttle while choke is in off position.
So does that mean off(upper position) means choke engaged and on(lower position) means choke disengaged?
My thoughts are off means choke disengaged and that trimmer should work when choke is in off position but it seems I am wrong with that.

The "twisty-turny" thing didn't help me (or my engine). I did some ethnic engineering by putting a screw in the little shelf above the choke lever to restrict it from opening completely. Works well now. BTW, the choke lever works in the opposite direction on my engine.
I haven't given up yet, next step will be to take the carb apart and verify there are no restrictions in the main circuit.

Very informative video but I find the background, "music", distracting.

Hi, My strimmer is the HYBC5200x with a pull choke, the manual does not say how to turn the choke off just says to the off position . no off possition is marked on it, anyone got any idea as i dont want to force it :)

Off will be the opposite to on, so if on is out then in is off :)
Some turn off automatically when you press the throttle.

While I have the choke off, after getting the motor to start, it goes to choke on automatically. Lol, why my 2 stroke doing that? 🤣
