I think this song was the PERFECT way to reintroduce the band! It has so many great elements in it. And to me it still very much has the same “Delain sound” that’s always made Delain what it is. By the way, they’ve been using harsh vocals since before Amaranthe was in existence. While I like a couple of Amaranthe songs, I’ve always loved Delain and definitely prefer them. They did a great job at showcasing all the members, including the singer of course, but a band is much more than the singer. That being said she still had more than ample opportunity to shine, and man she nailed it!! 😍. Back to the harsh vocals subject… for almost all of their albums they’ve only used harsh vocals on one or two songs and so I would not be surprised if they had harsh vocals on maybe one more song at the most. And personally I wish they would include them more, so definitely no complaints that they had them in this song!

yes I would love 50% of the songs of an album with harsh vocals, but at least more than only 1 song.

This chorus is SO good, gives me chills. I LOVE how it is more reminiscent of old Delain, like April Rain and Lucidity, which is when I really loved them a lot. I love Diana's voice, very similar in quality to Charlotte while still being distinctive. I definitely feel confident that she can ROCK the old material.
I will depart from your opinion on the harsh vocals. I pretty much ALWAYS want a harsh vocal to balance a song out. It gives dynamic, and contrast. I love them. Now, about both of the guys taking part, it might just be for fun, so they can both be part of it. I'm really not gonna judge them for that. And I think the music is still way different from Amaranthe, it's still more symphonic where Amaranthe is way more electro-pop and always has been.

    • @APREACTS
      @APREACTS  2 года назад +1

Amaranthe comment has not to do with the sound but rather the vocalists and the dynamics that they create.

@@APREACTS Yeah maybe I miscommunicated there, I think it is a fair comparison in that regard, I definitely thought of them as well when the harsh vocals came in. It just didn't leave a negative impression to me, and really the idea that "we already have Amaranthe so we don't need this" is kinda what I was responding to/disagreeing with here. Just my personal taste :)

Delain have had at least 3 to 4 vocalists on one track. Before Amaranthe even came out.....Lucidity album had 3 at once.
I think they've done it for the live performance on some nights you could have both on separate songs over the evening.
Just to add also one song has Alyssa white Gluz and Charlotte and guy from Serenity - George.
Diana can sing so well live too, I'd just like to add that.

I will admit I was actually comparing with the new singer of Xandria singing Reborn live (who imho was actually a hot mess I’m sorry to say (I know, she is new and all that, she just gets SO focused on the looks so it feels like, to where it comes off as disingenuous), so major props to Diana on that aspect as well! )

I'm 44 years old and I've been listening to metal since I was 15 years old. I've heard a lot, I've been to several shows, I play guitar, I'm not the type to "collect" albums in digital format (yes, I have a pretty big collection in physical media, all original, no piracy crap). I've followed Delain since its beginning and I love the band. Delain's sound is absolutely nothing like Amaranthe's sound. Amaranthe doesn't bet on symphonic and delicate lines, their sound is more electropop metal, full of pre-recorded bases and broken rhythms. Delain's sound is symphonic, delicate and often even atmospheric (here I remember a bit of the masterpiece "Mandylion" by The Gathering). And really, this new song got me excited. Diana Leah comes from the electronic music scene (trance) and her voice is superior to the voice of Charlotte Wessels, who in her solo career shows music of a very questionable quality. In short: it's the same Delain as always, the band I've grown to like. Martijn Westerholt was absolutely right to "reform" Delain: check out what Timo and Charlotte are recording out there. Really bad songs. And I repeat: comparing or even remembering Amaranthe when listening to this excellent song by Delain is nonsense. Don't take this as an offense. And here's a suggestion for a react: the Japanese band Lovebites. The song "Thunder Vengeance", live, is impressive.

You are absolutely right. Charlottes new music sucks and shes not even that good at singing anyways; Diana is far superior in every way. Im so glad charlotte took her disgusting music far away from delain. Delain has had a huge level up with diana who is an angel

  • @MarkRushow

I think her voice has a lot of Charlotte's same flavor. It is different but so far similar enough. I have hopes her renditions of past Delain will be great. The harsh vocals typically I'm not a fan of but in this song they do really work and Martin has said they aren't on all the tracks. And that has always been typical of Delain since Lucidity. Song tracks have some harsh vocals here and there. I was getting heavy phoenix vibes throughout the video as well. I think they couldn't have found a better vocalist for Delain. I wasn't expecting that. I was already set to be disappointed and I was pleasantly surprised. One song isn't the be all but I have high hopes now. I was crushed when Charlotte left. I couldn't imagine they would find someone else that fit so well. I can't stop listening to this song.

I think she sounds enough like Charlotte, of course it won't be exactly like her. But I'm pretty sure she can handle those. Especially very old material probably fits fine. Not quite as sure of the last cd that was done with Charlotte on vocals. I wasn't really expecting it being possible when I heard they're having new singer, but after hearing this track I'm not really worried... She'll do fine with the gathering and other old stuff. And I'm really looking forward for this new CD, as this one sounds very much like the Delain in the beginning.

Diana really is a great vocalist. Check out her Within Temptation covers which are magnificent particularly "Mad World". She was a Trance vocalist previously and while I am not a fan of that genre she really shows her vocal abilities on these songs as well. She definately sold me on one Trance song called "Out of Life (remis)". She was so great on that I hit the like button for the first time in my life for an EDM song!

Meanwhile charlotte has taken her hilariously bad music far away from delain where it should be, getting minimal attention as it should. I disagree about the harsh vocals, I think the song as a whole was masterfully put together and the harsh vocals are perfectly in place. I dont really understand the complaint that Diana should have all the vocals cuz it's her first track. She still had 90% of the vocals and the harsh vocals added a ton to the song. Honestly most of the complaints about the harsh vocals seemed unfounded and way out of proportion. In fact I think it's the best song delains ever released, and dark waters is by far the best album theyve ever made. It was a huge win for delain to lose charlotte and gain diana, they've really had an extreme level up from less than mediocre with charlotte to absolutely incredible bc of diana. Thumbs down on the vid bc you didnt sing the praises of new delain and diana nearly enough and were overly critical in ways that were random and irrelevant. For me, it was okay, it was not a waste of time but I will forgot about this song tomorrow.

The title of the video is wrong.
The right is " review of the vocals from delain "
I didnt hear Nothing about the music .
The harsh vocals though was great and add aggressiveness to the song which is fantastic . Heavy and bombastic as symphonic metal has to be.
The comparison with amaranth was misplaced too .
    Not a good video
