You can listen to low ends for much longer than highs. In English, you can be listening to vicious bass like this (let's say as low as 20hz sub bass) at high volumes close up, for around 10 minutes with little to no hearing effects... while on the other hand, you can't go for more than a minute or two listening to the same intensity and volume of audio on the high end without having your ears ring and having noticeable hearing loss for a while. An example of the high end would be like cymbals crashing or anything higher pitched. As for the dog, I can only assume he/she is used to it by now or dogs aren't affected by the low frequencies being produced, for all we know, maybe they can't hear lower frequencies. I'm not into car audio, I was looking up a home audio sub and stumbled on these car audio sub videos. I'm a basshead, but I've never been into car audio, although I can say, for us bassheads, when we want to have fun or want our fix of bass, we don't really care about the song or even sometimes the setup, we just want to experience the bass and push it to the limits. I doubt I would ever want to roll around with my car shaking and vibrating like these car audio bassheads though.
