Bobby Chacon with one of the biggest undestatements you'll ever hear: "We're both durable. I think you'll see a good 12 round fight." Yes, Bobby, we did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though it's many years later I have to tell you what a thrill it is to have known such a fighter with such heart he has taken such punishment and he has thrown punch after punch had showed how powerful he really was in that ring against Many We luv his entire reign In the box
1 of the 3 best fights ever.... slightly ahead of Chacon-Limon 4 (because its a little higher paced).... & slightly behind Morales-Barrera 1 (because its a bit more technically skilled) Amazing fight, brilliant.
Watch Foreman vs Lyle....Its starts at the staredown......Heavyweights laying down the thunder.....Unbelievable war. But still...I loved watching Chacon fights.....and Boza Edwards....
Great fight! I love watching the lighter weight fights in the 80’s. Okay, unanimous decision? No. A split decision for Chacon you say? I have no problem with that call. The fight to me could have gone either way. For those of you that say round 1 was not a knockdown, I’ll say check your rules. The knockdown came from the end of a punch. The fighters’ feet were not tangled up nor was there a push or shove that followed the punch delivered by Chacon. It was a flash knockdown and Edwards immediately rose to his feet. It’s a no brainer 10-8 round for Chacon.
Poor Bobby this kid had guts like no other old school boxing never made the big money of today of course tragic life wife committed suicide and his son killed in a gang fight and in the end school boy died with nothing and punch drunk. He was tough though. Love ya Bobby RIP
Dr Pacheco kept imploring the officials to stop the fight. Then boom, Chacon wins on a late rally. Even if it was controversial. Bobby gets on fight of the year in back to back years.
My bother and I got in a fight over this. Duran/Cuevas was being shown on another network (a rebroadcast) and this was live. I was a fan of all these fighters, so I don’t recall which one I wanted to see. Regardless, I was 15, he was 13 so I won. Also I think we got in a fistfight that my father allowed. I think I won.
Chacon was too brave for his own good and ended up paying the ultimate price. In his latter days he was so badly affected by Dementia Pugilistica (punch-drunk) that he could hardly speak.
Amazing war, better than against Chacon, because here, the punches were less "haymaked" and more "thought".I don't understand something:why a lot of these fantastic fights are watchable in accelerated motion?
one of the most Incredible boxing performance in have ever seen determination and Pacheco was exposed for his biased one side commentary afterwards you have to take the champions belt and the champions wasn't having it God bless skool boy Bobby Chacon
The Decision was Bullshit! They should've stopped the fight in the 9th round the way Chacon was bleeding. Chacon scored that knockdown in the last round that's all that was.
I met boza in Glasgow the night he annihilated Jerome artis on the undercard of Jim Watts victory over Howard Davis jnr, Couldn't meet a nicer man, pure gentleman. What a fight this was ,boza and chacon were warriors ...r.i.p bobby
boza edwards won this fight. it was a hometown decision. the so-called knockdown in round 1 was a slip...but even with that, chacon only won 3 rounds...boza dominated him for most of 9 rounds. the score should have been 115-112 for boza
Dentsun4228 Not only that but Chacon was so cut up they threatened to stop it as early as the sixth round. Watch Chacon-Arguello. Chacon is cut, but not nearly as badly as in this fight, and they stop it at the end of the round (7th). It's obvious the doctor in this fight, Flip Homansky, should have stopped it about the 7th round. Chacon was taking a beating in the early and mid rounds. Sure, he somehow came back, but he took a beating and now he is totally punch drunk. That same ring doctor, stopped JC Chavez/Randall II When Chavez was cut on the forehead by a headbutt. Randall and Boza both screwed by boxing politics.
I can’t not believe these referee what ever his name is has been A referee since back then then Was never good referee f I don’t see why never threw out we need mores opportunity to Mexicanos referees Plus our race do much more better work than these what ever his name is

Yes, Bobby, we did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow they just beat the crap out each other
WoW! I hadn't seen this since I was a child in the 80's.
I remember seeing this live. Chacon always fought best when he was hurt.
Que WebOS los del siempre admirable Bobby Chacón qepd!!
Haven't seen this in 30 years.
This is the fight that make me into a real boxing fan. Thanks so much for this and all the others. I really do appreciate your efforts.

Luv what a impressive championship carear you have such heart. Kis kiss kiss
I remember Bobby so well And Was unfortunate to speak to him many times He used to stop in my location Osborne and laurel cyn Pacoima calif
Incredible fight, total blood bath. Boza-Edwards was one of the classiest fighters ever. And Chacon was the guttiest man alive.
Great and unbelievable fight for both fighters. This fight, these days would be in "The GATTI List "
Ugh, think before you type.
Chacon got a gift on this one. Hometown decision
C'mon Joe! Bobby scored 3 knock downs and in the 2nd half was making Boza Miss often. And Trust me ..I'm a huge Cornelius Boza Edwards Fan😉
Albeit...that 117-111 was a bit Ludacris 👍
Was either of these guys ever in a bad fight .
I think the Bazooka /Bobby fight was among the best I ever saw.
Superpelea Bobby Chacón un verdadero guerrero
Difícilmente veremos en esta época un pelea tan aguerrida!!!
I still remember the day after the fight, a black and white newspaper picture of Chacon's face post fight scary.
Much respect to The Fight Doctor Ferdie Pacheco but I had to mute his biased commentary. Sorry.
@Dawud Bryant they all were with the exception of Don Dunphy!

Legendary fight!
Dr Pacheco kept imploring the officials to stop the fight.
Then boom, Chacon wins on a late rally. Even if it was controversial.
Bobby gets on fight of the year in back to back years.
31 and already 59 fights for Bobby.
Great fight on both parts, it should have been a split decision.
I'm Alright, Schoolboy,
One more Round. Chacon.
Call it what you may.
Where's the movie?
Bombs away slugfest for real Bobby didn't go nowhere and he can take it and still give wow!

For a man who's spent his life in the fight game, Ferdie Pacheco is damn ignorant.
I feel Bobby won that fight good for him he never ducked a foe

one of the most Incredible boxing performance in have ever seen determination and Pacheco was exposed for his biased one side commentary afterwards you have to take the champions belt and the champions wasn't having it God bless skool boy Bobby Chacon

This fight should have been stopped on cuts...They were scared of a riot
The Decision was Bullshit! They should've stopped the fight in the 9th round the way Chacon was bleeding. Chacon scored that knockdown in the last round that's all that was.

117-111 😮 wtf. It was a great fight but Boza won this 🥊
Don't think boza won, but that score was ridiculous
I had 114-112 chacon, considering rounds 1,2 and 12 are 10-8 rounds for Chacon
I can’t not believe these referee what ever his name is has been A referee since back then then Was never good referee f I don’t see why never threw out we need mores opportunity to Mexicanos referees Plus our race do much more better work than these what ever his name is
