In this succulent project, the tree trunk and terracotta pots were combined.
Wooden planters and terracotta pots are the best planters for succulents as they wick the moisture away from the soil, keeping the roots of the plants dry. Combining the fast-draining soil mixture and shallow planters makes a lot of difference when growing succulents in warm and humid places like the Philippines.

@@ChopstickandSucculents • I have a question. Why did you move to the Philippines?🥰
@@saya6899 because I have an 82-year-old mother who’s been on dialysis for almost 7 years now. I need to live closer to her especially during the pandemic where traveling was difficult.
@@ChopstickandSucculents • Oh I see. Well, it's good that you're with your mother taking care of her and enjoying family moments; and at the same time doing what you are passionate about… growing succulents and showing us your beautiful creations. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me. Happy Sunday and a big hug for your mom🙏🏼💖💚💚💚🌵🪴
I find your website informative. I live in very similar tropical climate. It rains constantly. I have most of my succulents under my roof eaves. My soil is highly drainable. A mixture of cactus of small lava granules and soil an a bit of sand. Too muck lava rock dod not provide enough nutrients. It was a case of trial and error. I only use very hardy succulents that withstand the constant rain.
Your project turned out awesome.
Hi . New subscriber. Rhodora A from ahmc. Remember me? Somebody introduced me your channel. I happy for you. God bless.
💟 Very nice! 💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍
Thank you🙏
How did you secure the pots to the tree trunk?
Oh, I forgot to mention that. Thanks for reminding. I used nails to anchor on to the trunk. I inserted through the pot’s holes.
@@ChopstickandSucculents Thank you!!
Hi Treasa, Do you grow any succulents under trees, how do you deal with bird droppings?
I do not have that same problem. I have another tree where I planted the orchids and have not spotted any bird droppings. Probably because the tree is huge and the birds are staying mostly on the branches.
@@ChopstickandSucculents Thank you
Fantastic idea of what to do with my two dead trees!! I’m guessing stainless steel nails or screws (so they don’t rust), to anchor the pots to the tree stumps?
Exactly! I should have mentioned that. I miss that part.
is it hard growing succulents in the Philippines? if so, how do you protect them?
👍😊💜🌸🌸
Please someone help me!!!! How do you keep squirrels from eating your succulents???
