OFF GRID SAUNA - Alaskan Log Cabin - (Benches and Shower) Part 4

- Welcome to my remote sauna project! This is the final video of this 4-part series. In this video I am working on the interior of the sauna, building the cedar benches and installing an off-grid shower system.
The benches were designed on the fly as I built them. There are probably ways to improve them, but I am pleased with the final product and don't know of any changes I would make at this time.
The shower is also my own design. It is built to self-drain after every use so it can freeze without damaging the copper piping. The pressure pump is able to be easily disconnected and drained as well. The compete shower is simple, low-cost, easy to install, and most importantly,,, it works wonderfully!
The weather turned beautiful this weekend after the windstorm passed through. The mercury is starting to creep up in the thermometer and I am getting much more daylight to work with. Spring is just around the corner.

Wow, what an unique design and beautiful winter scenery. Two improvement ideas for next sauna: 1) Build one small room before sauna for changing clothes etc, 2) Buy a finnish sauna stove with an integrated water heating element - then warming up sauna gives you hot water as well. 👍🏼🇫🇮

AMAZING!! I was waiting til it was all finished to comment. All the work and construction on the outside was definitely tedious work but also beautifully crafted. I loved everything about it. But then on part 4 when you did the shower, I have to admit I was wondering where all the water was gonna drain from and then out comes the metal tub....genius!! You are so intelligent to know all that technical/plumbing stuff. It worked perfectly! Also your dog just makes it that much more fun to watch. What a cutie! Can’t wait for the next project!

As enjoyable as watching your progress with each project is, it is equally satisfying and enjoyable seeing the love between you and your dog. Truly a peaceful and calming scene, that never fails to bring tears of both sadness and joy to me. Joy over knowing the safety that your little dog must always feel and sadness over how much I still miss my beloved Chocolate Lab, Cocoa even three years after her passing. Beautiful spot in the world, just the one tip for the sauna, you should build another level for the bench, feet should always be heater stone level or higher, otherwise you will have cold feet.

My experience wintering in Antarctica is that you should put a release valve to drain all the water in the pipe. Otherwise it will froze and burst it. Great job anyway. Love your channel

Nice work. I’m also in AK and built a sauna. It’s fun to see how different people do different ideas. I like your bench design and your water melting.
The snow water process is the slowest thing about the sauna so appreciate your ideas. In the summer when I don’t feel like making a fire I use an eco temp water heater. Super simple. Also you may find an accumulator helpful for your water pump.
