I have bionicpup installed on my 2006 iMac. Amazing!! I use bionicpup non all my computers. For me it's the only distro worth using. I have tried many others but puppy is the only one gets me up and running fast. It has the easiest way to get samba going of any distro i have used. So many other things you can do with it. It's amazing!!! 😁
I'm trying to install Bionic on a Mac Mini 2,1, I can get it to boot using the same method you have. However when it loads to boot Puppy Linux I receive the following boot message 1. 2. Select CD-ROM Boot Type : _ Like you I'm using a Windows keyboard and unfortunately I am unable to input my choice as the keyboard is not recognised.. I'm downloading Xenial Puppy to give it a try as well but I believe I'll have the same problem as it's UEFI as well. Cheers.
Since I've set the Mac Mini to boot from the OS on CD-Rom it no longer boots from the internal HDD, do you have any idea how to fix this. The message I receive is: No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press and any key
@@Kenny.G63 I was getting ready to reply to the first one and saw you made it this far. 👍 Great work. First thing I could do is try different ports. Even switching after it boots. 2nd I would snag another usb keyboard. I have a few BT keyboards and mice but I never got them to work with it. I did not put a ton of effort into them though. I have used a wireless Logitech KB with it though. Keep me posted. Super cool you are this close!
@@HLModTech I kept giving it my best go, dragged a few more keyboards out and even tried the BT keyboard and mouse I use on laptop, switching between the usb ports made no difference, it just didn't want to play. I ended up downloading a different distro and it fired up straight away and installed with no problems. Got to thank you though, as your video did inspire me to keep at it and in the end I did end up installing Linux on a Mac Mini, it was for a mate who wanted to keep the Mac, as he used it for music, movies and streaming and he thought I'd like to have a go at installing Linux on it so it could continue entertaining him.
@@Kenny.G63 So glad you won and 👏 your persistence!!! It is so cool to make those Mac Mini's come back to life. Frustrates the heck out of me that Apple just says sorry... obsolete.
You should do a speed test comparison between mac is and puppy loading various RUclips sized videos. Would be interesting to see if puppy linux supports 4k RUclips vids.
Wifi is not as easy as Lan. I used to put it on old laptops, but was not always successful with wifi. It is really dependent on the adapter you are using for the wifi. I will check to see if I can get it rolling with the Mac Mini wifi when I get a chance though. Thanks for the idea!
@@richoz. Are you using the Mac Mini as a server? Or is there a mac Mini server? Just checking because I am not a mac guy... these were just given to me and I had to find a way for them to be useful. =) Sometimes I lose wifi on mine and I right click the wifi indicator and do network setup. The step that took me a while was that I had to use the 2nd tab to pick the adapter and put in the wifi password... Let me know if that helps. 🤞
Did not help that I was not much of a Mac guy in the first place. I use windows the most, but whenever I take time to mess with Puppy I am amazed what it can do for FREE on limited machines.

Those are all in ones... right? I bet that would be slick. Using wifi or lan?
@@HLModTech it's an all in one. I use Ethernet connections on all my computer's. Bionicpup is so easy and fast to set up!😁
@@rmcellig Yeah, I prefer Ethernet as well. I have wifi working on a few boxes, but it is never as fast and always takes more steps.

I've managed to get Xenial Puppy up and running, but now the mouse and keyboard aren't recognised lol..

Interesting question. Would it matter that I do not have any 4k monitors? Shoot that old dell it is attached to still has the old ratio!

Mine is using the broadcom B43 driver. Detected on it's own and working great.

@@richoz. Sounds more powerful than mine. I think mine is from 06 or earlier. Did you get puppy on there with a flash drive?
Cool
I was pretty happy it worked. =) Took me about 3 weeks to get the steps down to a science.
iOS 11 definitely won't get you very far there...
