Its amazing the difference in watching Phil as he smoothly glides along playing and grooving to the music compared to Mike Gordons style where he is still with head bobbing and is more of a mechanical looking style. Mike snaps from position to position in perfect time, phil seems to glide effortlessly along from place to place. I love them both, its just so interesting to see their different styles. I love it when bass stands out like this gem.
"The first single from the Dead's 'Blues For Allah' album, 'The Music Never Stopped' debuted live in 1975, and was primarily a first set closer by 1977, although it occasionally opened a show, and on a very rare occasion in 1985, it opened a second set. Originally, the song's lyric was written as Hollywood Cantata by Robert Hunter, but Bob scrapped those lyrics and had his songwriting partner write a completely different lyric." -David Lemieux
sun went down in honey 🍯 and the moon came up in wine🍷 ... the stars were spinning dizzy 💫... the band kept us so buzzy... that we forgot about the time!
Great to hear all the musicianship on this one. This is one of my favorite MNS, probably because I was there and up front. My feet start moving everytime I hear this-brings back so many memories of the GD.
@@mattjm82 yea, same thing i'm thinking. It doesn't ring a bell for me. Listen to some late 70s Music Never Stopped and you'll hear some great bobby tone.
Please release more pro shot videos like you did a year or two ago...you must have a ridiculous amount of video from all the summer TV screen shows. Pleeeease.
Love the tune, but even with the great Hornsby sitting 8:43 in, they are not at their best here. The phase calling it in works here for Jerry. I love the Dead, just my not so humble opinion.
what on earth is all that noise? who are all those people? are there seriously two keyboards .......i dont know what that squeaky noise is but ....its got to be the keyboards ........sorry i left when brent left ........i just dont get it .......ok well people are enjoying it so thats cool ......but my god in heaven how completely irritating .......i would leave this show in tears
If youre wondering why theres 2 keyboardists then you never really knew who Brent really was. It would take 3 guys to do what he could do. Notice neither of the new keyboardists sang any lead songs nor wrote any significant songs.
The music never stopped. Until dead and co. Came along. Charging beyond ridiculous prices and stopped with the tapers! Now the boys are retiring! Uhm, I’m this line of work. We don’t quite or retire. We play til death and then some. Thank God for Papa Bear!
I remember being at this show and Jerry's hair gently blowing in the breeze like angel's wings. ❤
I love this song so much it’s so beautiful and calming to listen to 🎶 🎼
I love that little riff he does when the song is starting
Same here, it's always buttery smooth.
That bass is a monster!!! Love the sound of it!! Man I miss these days.

Is there a recording of the REAL lyrics?
Interesting. Thank you.
@@PizzaT You can hear Hollywood Cantata on the Studio Rarities release.
I love the album
So good 👍

Music how music must be performed.

Oooooweee, just finished listening to a version from Bonner Springs, 6/25/91. And I keep on dancing!
I was at this 1 & Sandstone. Such a fun tour. Soldier Fields Shakedown was the best I've ever seen!
I love this song so much!
I was very lucky to be there. Great show all the way through. There was almost no water in the lot that day, but the liquid was abundant.
My favorite version of this song. The whole band is tight, Bruce is there. Bobby, Phil, and Jerry really locked in

Lesh is a great guy, I met him and his wife once and they were very friendly and took a picture with us.
@@zippymufo9765 cool story, bro.
@@bigmike5785 LOL - you killed me with that.
@jean marie kennedy what! It WAS a cool story!....make sure you check out TMNS from 10-18-78 👍
I like how the songs are the same but awesomely different like an individual fingerprint or snowflake. Peace. Happy New Year
This has been in my head since the tour was announced! Can't wait
bobby's guitar tone is fantastic on this version
So clear in the 90s
Lol, are we listening to the same song ? Sounds awful.

LOL, I hate it. What is he even trying to accomplish here?
I wonder if those who find his tone off are listening on phones
I was there, great show. Great time from what I can remember….
If Bobby doesn’t end up pulling these specific jorts out on the last tour i’ll be disappointed
And have Donna Jean return to sing this one with him...
Thinking it may be the final song
I was there!!
And it's still growing . Spread the joy peace ✌ ✨
Nobody can play like poor Brent , how missed r him & Jerry ! 😞😔🥲😥❤️🌹☮️👻🪐👽😱
I don’t normally notice it, but Jerry’s hair is epic!
MONUMENTAL!!!!!
Bill is wearing my absolute favorite tye dye I'd love to have another.......bought mine in Las Vegas '91

What a great version.. Garcia is on fire at the end.. I wish Jerry and Vince were still around

Love, Love this ❤😎🎸
NO WAIT I SEARCHED THIS UP AND DIDN'T EXEPCT IT TO BE POSTED TWO DAYS AGO 😭
Pure luck...I wasn't even looking for it!
Awesome night @ the Cooker!
Hey you dead heads think we were listening to the words on this tune.. we will never let the music stop!!
Is this anyone else's favorite Dead tune?
Top 4 for sure....
Jerry was 100% in Psychedelic Einstein mode while playing this song.

Hornsby put in some solid work on this tour
those three great transitionary chords, and 3:18 bobby would fair rock us off to sleep
Anyone know how to play the chords that bobby plays during the jam? Thanks

Wooo loud bobby
It was a fiddle not the wind.
Who is the guy on keyboards
JEHOVAH'S FAVORITE BAND
New guy so devoted to the grateful dead. He quit his job when Jerry Garcia past and he went to the funeral.
Zesty guitarwork by Garcia. 😃👍😃
Like Jehovahs fav choir....
2023 here we come!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
These guys need to find someone who can actually write a song. Once they get a song, they need to find guitar players who can really play.
