Watching from the Caribbean. I was so excited about this investment, where a melanin African: Mr. Dangote, who invested over $30 billion in the world's biggest oil refinery right here in Nigeria. With pride we anticipated how it was going to positively impact not only Nigeria's economy but the continent as a whole, in terms of intercontinental trade + FOREX.
It is unbelievable how a Government, + indigenous Africans of that country who runs the regulatory framework, along with other petrol agencies, would stoop so low, to compromise there very own country and nation's livelihood, in favor of foreign interest & self greed (Corruption)
I mean what kinds of beings would prefer the stagnation of thier economy, witness currency value falls, create artificial population poverty, instead of building wealth? Is Nigeria cursed? I mean what is really wrong? Are they robots controlled by western entities?

Western entities have a very minor role in this I fear. Nigerian elites are more interested in personal wealth than national growth and development. They would rather the whole country go poor so far they are able to profit from it. Nothing concerns them with ending poverty, in fact they encourage it and use it as a weapon to hold onto power. A poor person would do anything for scraps at the table and will be less threat to them.
The "world's largest" refinery in Nigeria, when none of the four existing refineries were not working, should have informed you that the whole exercise was a scam and a fòkìn' joke.
That is why the protest is gathering steam.

Thanks for the update. The refineries owned by the Nigerian government is not working, despite spending billions of dollars. A Nigerian citizen took it upon himself to build a refinery of that magnitude, and some people are trying to frustrate him. It seems that some Nigerian public officials are trying to destroy the country completely. They only put their selfish interest first, above the country.

A regulatory agency who does not have it own lab to test what it's going to regulate. What corruption has done to us in Nigeria only God knows.

If Dangote was in nearly any other country, all his major projects would have been completed and operational.

@@kayrams1792 Nigeria has only two types of crude oil 🛢️, his Refinery can process six other types, of which "fracking" is plentiful in the USA, but NOT enough Refinery to process.

With the domestic crude obligations to Nigeria set at 445,000 BPD, how then, are Dangote Refinery and other local refineries unable to access this crude? This has been the provision for many years. Local demand has been redirected as corrupt players have ensured that the Nigerian refineries never produce!!! Who has been benefiting from this arrangement? Local refiners like Dangote will certainly add value, enhance the Nigerian economy, provide employment, drop prices at the pump, which in turn impact all other prices across the board, and save significant forex. Now, Dangote has to import crude from Brazil and the US?!?! This madness can not continue!!! The powers that be must fix this nonsense!!!

I like this. I expected it. His men should do more of the talking with hard facts. Dangote has very highly skilled employees. I remember when I was in my final year at the university in Benin, I heard that Dangote made offers to have 1st class graduates work for his company. He goes for the best, irrespective of ethnic origin. He just needs their brains. Little wonder his companies are doing well compared to the public owned refineries whose employees were recruited based on quota system instead of merit.
Dangote should talk less and allow his employees to do the talking so that it doesn't seem like he is taking the matter personally. He has very capable hands.

Dangote does not set price of fuel. It is a general international price. The reason we think the price is high is the exchange rate. Tell ur government to reduce importation and watch the exchange rate drop which will also drop fuel prices
