*Adventure Island 2 and 3* are the best chapters of the series in my opinion. Beautiful both graphically and in Gameplay. I loved the fact that the levels were made up of islands and that each island had a boss to discover. Games so simple, but beautiful and fun still today. Real timeless games.

That was the game I played in my childhood. Different version of ice lander. That 🐲 dragon smile while holding on it backs during jumps were beautiful to watch. That seal in water was very difficult to move back wards. Beautiful memories thank you.
I grew up in the 8-bit era and I never heard of Adventure Island until I learned it was a poor mans ripoff of Wonder Boy on the Sega Master System that came out a year earlier.
Not true. Wonder Boy was an Arcade game from Escape/Westone and Sega made just the arcade distribution for them. But obviously registered some trademarks. Hudson did the NES port but couldn't use the name and the hero design but kept the game design going. When Sega did the SMS und GG port they used the Westone trademarks. The later Wonderboy games had little in common with the arcade platformer thus this one is the odd one out.

Were these games considered great back in their day or just OK? I grew up playing this in 1997. it was my brothers. i was 7 years old. i always asked my older siblings to help me get through the hardest parts. i dont think anyone of us beat the game but they certainly could play it more advanced than I could. I did good for a young gamer but this game is dang hard. I LOVE the cover art of these games as well as games of that area. Beautiful color choices, shading, and font choices. Even by todays standards Cover artwork of this era is phenomenal

As soon as they took the dinosaurs out these games went sour. I remember being so disappointed when I played the first one on SNES. What a letdown all the charm died after 2 and 3.

Wow I forgot all about it until I felt “nostalgic” about that game. It is pretty much was a forgotten game. I had the part 1 for NES. I did play the SNES version also.

I believe they're Japan exclusives. Takahashi Meijin is a former executive of Hudsonsoft, and bouken jima(冒険島)literally means "adventure island" in Japanese. So the translation of the title would be "takahashi meijin's adventure island".

Wow I forgot all about it until I felt “nostalgic” about that game. It is pretty much was a forgotten game. I had the part 1 for NES. I did play the SNES version also.
I never knew the NES stole and cloned Wonder Boy from the Sega Master System which was an arcade by Sega. I thought this was some cheap homebrew by an NES fan boy. Wonder Boy looks way better.

Were those "Takahashi Meijin no Bouken" some kind of hack games or versions launched just in Japan?
Btw, great compilation, never heard about most of those games , just the main and popular games launched for NES.
I believe they're Japan exclusives. Takahashi Meijin is a former executive of Hudsonsoft, and bouken jima(冒険島)literally means "adventure island" in Japanese. So the translation of the title would be "takahashi meijin's adventure island".
Wow the gameboy ones are very impressive. I think I have one in a draw. I just did a Ali-Express GBA V2 ips screen so maybe I will play it.
