Just the act of getting out and DOING something for yourself is so powerful. Sometimes I go to a coffee shop and read a book for an hour and it feels like I’ve gone to a new planet-and voilà, I’m reset! (I don’t have children but can sometimes get cagey in general.)
I'll be honest, we have very different makeup styles and preferences BUT I never miss a video because I just love your outlook and positivity and your family is so adorable. I seem to find a semblance of peace when I watch your videos. Thank you for always being you and never apologizing for it.
What type of makeup do you do, if you don’t mind me asking? I feel like Emily does a pretty natural look other than going ham with her blush😂 Agree she is a breath of fresh air. She’s definitely a girl’s girl.
Yeah, I am also different from her style but love watching. I don't really do much face makeup, just some blush and occasionally concealer under my eyes. I go ham on eyeshadow and like colorful, sparkly looks. :D
Emily, my baby loves you 😂 I watch your videos as I feed him in the mornings and he always calms down when he hears your voice lol life saver! Our little morning routine lol thanks for always being positive and awesome! 💕
Okay another point...yessss on the memory of the Covergirl lip balm..I'm legit at the nub of my first one in Bliss You Berry and have another I'm going to use this weekend. What a perfect shade for me.
I am surprised Elf made that and the formulas seemed to be pretty good. Seems Elf, MUR, Wet and Wild, Kokie Maybelline , LA Color, LA Girl, etc are very hit or miss with those shades, and formulas (cold/neutral palettes) That eye look is gorgeous though that she did.❤ Natasha D Xenon, Huda Grunge, somewhat w/ Jaclyn Hill Luxe Legacy palette (don’t recommend the JH. You can find far better formulas for much less) and other brands have been leaning into those shades, FINALLY(!!!) cold palettes are hard to find and Colour Pop Stone Cold was the first I’ve seen where the palette was all cool for once. I am hoping brands will continue to put out cool tone shadow palettes because they look gorgeous, imo, on warm, neutral, olive and cool tone skin tones. The market is saturated with warm palettes and there are so many, it’s gotten to the point, if you have a few, you might have them all because they don’t typically change up much. Not a fan of those flat eye/concealer style brushes. I think that’s why they don’t include one. You can pack and blend with something that RT shape, and a flat brush you are very restricted in function. Just my opinion as to why brands rarely provide a flat eye brush in sets, having brushes that are multi functional.
Hi Emily. Long time lurker 😂. Just wanted to say thank you for allowing us into your life and every recommendation I appreciate. Sending you and your family so much love this season. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you. I moved to Australia from the uk 5 years ago and watching you feels like spending every morning with my sister who I miss terribly. Have a fab day xx
I am commenting at the beginning of the video, but… I haven’t used a wet sponge for years! I don’t like how a wet sponge dilutes my foundation or other products. I use my sponge dry as a remove excess product if needed and a blending tool.
You know you are so right. I have bought a crap ton of the new beauty sponges from all the cheap places. I have not used them dry but need to now. Honestly, even though I keep buying them, the one time I needed a wet sponge to fix under eye issues, it failed. Miserably. At the end of the day, I keep going back to the triangle wedge ones. The ones you get for like 60 for $1.25 at dollar tree. My 2 pennies anyway. God Bless All Y'all 🙏🇺🇸💄🇺🇸🙏 Edit: I just saw on Reddit a makeup artist say they cut beauty sponges in half with no bad side effects to make them stretch. Also it gives a flat side for use.
Hi Emily, I love show and tell videos. I like the brush set too. I have not tried any Dermablend yet. The girls are going to love their stocking stuffers. Thanks for a wonderful video Emily. It was so much fun and we love you too. Blessings and prayers for you Dad.🥰❤❤💗💕🤎❣🏵🌹🌹🌺💐🙏
Sending your dad good thoughts. My mom is 76 and has stage 4 lung cancer- her next chemo is in Jan. It’s a journey for us as kids to switch to the somewhat caregiver role for our parents. It’s been an interesting experience the last year and a half.
*Favorite RT Dual Brush for Blush* . I have a petite and narrow face shape. At 56, the blush needs to go higher. I love the RT 438/439 for applying ELF putty blush. For eyes, my go-to is the RT 316/336 duo. I have small hooded eyes and stick to two shadows for every day. I sourced my brushes at Marshall's and TJ Maxx.
Retail therapy is some of my favorite kind of therapy 🤭 and who can’t relate to needing to get out of the house! This is why I love watching you 🤗 I hope you’re having a great afternoon 💗
My niece draws blue on her lids with her textas so I'm allowed to buy her makeup for Xmas. Elf Cookies n Cream palette erfect for Elsa/Frozen. Got glitter, gloss, nails, NYX jumbo, elf metallic and cream eye pots, light purple blush (thx Korea). Sister said "just buy cheap kiddie makeup" and I was like "HOW DARE YOU". I've got a creative vision. We've got a wintery blue Frozen look, a pink look and a lilac look for her new Princess Sophia dress.
Hey Emily! I use the real technique seamless complexion brush for cream blush. Specifically my Patrick Ta she’s so LA 😊 and I love the way it works with that blush.
I love the metal comb from that Real Techniques eye set so much that I bought a whole second set mainly for travel kit specifically for that metal comb. LOVE IT!! The brushes are nice too and it is amazing quality and price. I have never had a RT brush be hard to clean or keep going for years. If they made a sponge like Elf's little Camo concealer sponge I would buy them by the dozen! Much love to you Emily, the person I seek for the BEST Drugstore content. 💕
Love the Elf Palette! Purchased that Lipstick and just opened it. The Coconut scent was too much for me, so I gave it to my sister! thx Emily!!🎉🎉🎉 Sending positive energy and strength to your dad!!❤
I love my Revlon Skinlights highlighter! Definitely a winner! I wish I liked the lifter glosses because of all the colors, but I hated the taste/smell. I had to wipe it off. But that bubblegum pink looks so cute!
Retail therapy is the best! Love a good haul try-on video! The look came together beautifully. Loving that smokier eye with that pink lip! Prayers for your dad, hope all continues to go well. 😘
I just bought a set of profusion brushes especially for the small precision brush and they are very good quality thank you for the recommendation. Profusion has a lot of really good products.
Oh man! I was having Emily withdrawal…I’ve been so busy that I haven’t watched any RUclips. Love when you say gang! It makes me laugh. Great video! On to the next one. I’m working backwards 😂
Hi Emily, I’ve always had a hard time finding eye brushes since I have hooded eyes. I love my profusion brushes for that reason. They are cheap and they have lasted a long time for me. I found a Sonia Kashuk brush from target thats perfect for packing on shadow on the lid. Glad you were able to make this set work for you. 💗
I love these haul-style grwm vids! And I know The Emily Awards are coming up but could there be a future video on 'last all day' makeup recommendations? A lot of my blushes and bronzers just fade after a few hours even with a setting spray; my foundation kicks it, but my face has no color! ~FCA
I love that brush set and I prefer it over my high end sets and I have many. I've seen Shelby Wilson use a brush similar to the large fluffy one when doing a smokey eye recently and the trick is to use it with a patting motion rather than swiping it. But hey you can use a brush any way you like.
I use the RT Miracle Airblend Mattifying sponge which you use dry and I’ve never gone back. It took the place of both my brushes and other sponges. It’s squishy though. I can also use it with products that I would have applied with my fingers.
I started applying foundation with those dry triangle sponges. I still prefer a dry sponge especially for long wear foundations like ColorStay. They are great and retain foundation inside so with a little extra pressure you can push out targeted fuller coverage. However I probly would use a brush with more expensive foundations.
Hey Emily! That eye look is also achievable with Elf's Nude Mood/Mad for Matte palette, an older, but still in stock 10 pan set that I love. Great for days when I want an easy look that doesn't take alot of thought. Perfect with the Milani eyelid primer underneath - thanks for the recommendation! And for the video! And much love to you and yours, with special good thoughts for your dad!
You reminded me of how much I loved that mascara! I want to get it in Waterproof and see if it'd help prevent smudging. I have the Dermablend concealer but i think it creases a bit too much for my liking. Today I wore Nyx Bare with me concealer and I like it better. Going to some of my favorite stores on my own without kids is one of my favorite things to do. I'm glad you got to enjoy yourself at Ulta.
I bought new sheets. They're polar fleece with plaid pillow cases. I did get the Lawless Forget the Filler Nude Honey lip liner. I have to get a different color. It's a little too brown for me. But I enjoy the formula. Hope everything goes well with your Dad. I will be praying for him. Keep smiling. Love ya.
Hi Emily. Watched this video when I arrived home from work. Love the look. Thinking of you all and hoping your Dad does well with the chemo and after. ❤
Big RealTechniques fan over here. Hate that sponge- it did nothing for me. I only kept it as a spare in case I needed to dab powder with it. The brush was actually something I bought to use for blush and I’m still using it to this day. It deposits blush right where I want it and I’m the type of person to wear blush sparingly so a brush that gives me control is exactly what I needed. Hope this helps!!
I have watched you for years and I have to say you remain one of my favorite creators because you always remain you. Weird to say, but you never make me feel like you have more or less than anyone and I trust you. I don’t think I have ever made a comment before but I just click so fast on your videos. Thanks for being you!
I use the RT brush you used for foundation for cream bronzer. Love it for that. I use the RT medium crease brush to put a light color all over my lid at the start of my eye shadow. Loved this video!!
Em, use the dry sponge to apply the foundation. Put the foundation on the sponge and work it into the skin. That’s how I was taught to use it at a makeup counter way back in the 80’s, see if that helps.
I cannot believe you didn't get a new blush! 😱 I always forget about those Persona blushes until you break one out and then I remember how pretty they are! As someone who works retail I cannot wait for this time of year to go by. I honestly just don't enjoy the holidays anymore which is kind of sad.
Em, I got a small brush set from Sephora as a gift. It has a really nice flat brush that you might like. I'm sure they will have something in their regular line. Hugs from Prague 😚❤️
Happy holidays 🎅🏽🌲. I have a question about the IT Cosmetics “ Book like make up palette - it folds up and has a magnetic close - it has everything just about for a full face of makeup. Do you know if those are coming out again ? I love mine from a few years ago . Thanks for all you do and share with us online ! Love you !!! ❤
I actually use my makeup sponge dry😂 and I love it because it doesn’t soak up any of the product. Saw my sister doing this years ago so I tried it out and loved it😆
Just the act of getting out and DOING something for yourself is so powerful. Sometimes I go to a coffee shop and read a book for an hour and it feels like I’ve gone to a new planet-and voilà, I’m reset! (I don’t have children but can sometimes get cagey in general.)
I love your thoroughness of all your videos. I am 63 and still definitely learning and you explain so well.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 for your Dad.
I appreciate your background being festive but not loud and distracting. 🎄
You didn’t buy any new blush? Who even are you!? 🤣
I don't know!!! hahaha
This cracked me up 😂
😂😂
😂
Facts!!
I love the words “I smell an Emily Award!” ❤❤❤😊
Agreed, she’s wonderful!! ❤
Prayers continue for your precious dad ❤🙏🙏
Who doesn't love a good Ulta haul? I love just walking in there !! So fun & you got some good stuff
Covering your precious dad (and mom) in prayer 🙏🏼
Emily, my baby loves you 😂 I watch your videos as I feed him in the mornings and he always calms down when he hears your voice lol life saver! Our little morning routine lol thanks for always being positive and awesome! 💕
Such a pretty look. Prayers for Dad. Thank you for all your hard work for us.💌💝
I totally agree that nothing is as much fun as trying on new makeup. Your girls will love what you found for them`
Online ordering is convenient but there really is nothing like seeing the products in person.
Indeed! :)
Okay another point...yessss on the memory of the Covergirl lip balm..I'm legit at the nub of my first one in Bliss You Berry and have another I'm going to use this weekend. What a perfect shade for me.
You are the most genuine content creator. I just adore you!! That elf palette looks great. I may have to try that. :)
You know that meme that says “What’s something that feels illegal but isn’t?” Our answer would be: “Not wetting our beauty sponges!!” 😂😩
Those elf eyeshadows remindedme of Coastal Scents Revealed palettes, the shape, the tones, even the way they seem to apply.
I’ve repurchased that essence mascara soooo many times. It’s so good! Everyday go to for me 😊
“Lurker”…😂 Hilarious!
Hi Emily! I recently bought that face brush from real techniques and I’ve been really enjoying it for cream blush!
I am commenting at the beginning of the video, but… I haven’t used a wet sponge for years! I don’t like how a wet sponge dilutes my foundation or other products. I use my sponge dry as a remove excess product if needed and a blending tool.

Prayers and best wishes to your dad. Chemo is such a tough journey. I had 6 rounds, but I’m grateful that the doctors were so thorough 💕
Hi Emily, I love show and tell videos. I like the brush set too. I have not tried any Dermablend yet. The girls are going to love their stocking stuffers. Thanks for a wonderful video Emily. It was so much fun and we love you too. Blessings and prayers for you Dad.🥰❤❤💗💕🤎❣🏵🌹🌹🌺💐🙏

haha yes it needed to happen!! :D Thanks for taking time to watch!

The way that foundation brush is so angled like that seems like it would be great for under eye setting.
Sending love and prayers for Dad!! xoxoxo
The makeup looks so pretty. Love the colors. Prayers for your dad. Love and Kindness, Teresa
Love that you chose a drug store alternative to the other grungy selections out there right now.
Sending 🙏🏻
HI Emily! I hope you and your family are doing well, physically and mentally! sometimes a little retail therapy really does wonders :)
Thanks so much!! It does :D Hope you're having a good day!
Yes!!! I love when I see a new Emily video!! You are such a bright light 😊❤🥰
aw thanks so much!!
Prayers continuing for your dad, Em! Sounds like he's doing great, though!! I am such a fan of the Maybelline Lifter Glosses. Thanks for a new rec!
I like the Real Techniques brush set! And I forgot about the Cover Girl balm! I need❤
You call it retain therapy. I call it Emily therapy ❤
You've been on your game !! I was wondering have you tried any Moira cosmetics? Their shifting eyeliner is insane and would love to see your take!
ohh thank you for the reminder! Been meaning to!
Hey Emily! I use the real technique seamless complexion brush for cream blush. Specifically my Patrick Ta she’s so LA 😊 and I love the way it works with that blush.

I love, and wait for bitty to come in for her morning hug in every video.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Emily. Do you think you can try that new angled brush that you used for foundation on bronzer or blush next?
I love my Revlon Skinlights highlighter! Definitely a winner! I wish I liked the lifter glosses because of all the colors, but I hated the taste/smell. I had to wipe it off. But that bubblegum pink looks so cute!
The brushes are exactly what I was looking for as a gift for my son's GF. Thank you!
The brushset is $16 at Walmart.
Love the Real Techniques brush set. ❤ love your videos 😊
My favorite foundation brush (I think I got in a Boxy Charm.) is the Half Caked 110 Complexion Brush. It's great and pretty cheap.
Good to see your bright smiling face ❤
Thanks for being here, Monica!
Prayers always to a REMARKABLE family
Retail therapy is the best! Love a good haul try-on video! The look came together beautifully. Loving that smokier eye with that pink lip! Prayers for your dad, hope all continues to go well. 😘
Best drugstore settings spray that makes your makeup last all day. Like the UD, all nighter
The Dermablend Illuminating powder is my favorite powder. It isn’t suuuuper shiny but as you go about your day, your skin has this wonderful glow.
I love playing with new makeup. I just got mufe face palette tonight and cant wait to play with it tomorrow 😊
Your skin is looking amazing!! 😍
How exciting to go to a brand new Ulta that sounds like something I need to do.
I just bought a set of profusion brushes especially for the small precision brush and they are very good quality thank you for the recommendation. Profusion has a lot of really good products.

The Sephora 47 has a similar shape to that real techniques one but works really nicely for foundation.
I love that brush set and I prefer it over my high end sets and I have many. I've seen Shelby Wilson use a brush similar to the large fluffy one when doing a smokey eye recently and the trick is to use it with a patting motion rather than swiping it. But hey you can use a brush any way you like.

spa secrets from walmart used to carry a really good flat eyeshadow brush, not sure if they still do. it's like $2 and it's lasted me pretty well!
Hi Emily. Watched this video when I arrived home from work. Love the look. Thinking of you all and hoping your Dad does well with the chemo and after. ❤
Very pretty look! Loved the little presents you got your girls. I’m sure they will love them❤
I use my RT medium crease brush for concealer and it's perfect, I love it!

Perfect timing Emily! Thank you!
Prayers going up! 🙏🏻
That blush brush reminds me of the rare beauty blush brush
Praying for your dad and your family!
Too funny! I thought of YOU on Monday when I shopped Hobby Lobby, Kohls/Sephora, and Target all next to each other.
Em, use the dry sponge to apply the foundation. Put the foundation on the sponge and work it into the skin. That’s how I was taught to use it at a makeup counter way back in the 80’s, see if that helps.
Love the look Emily, prayers for Ur dad. I go for my 1st round of chemo 2morro ❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Best of luck, many prayers your way! ❤
Hope all goes well!
Thanks guys ❤
I cannot believe you didn't get a new blush! 😱 I always forget about those Persona blushes until you break one out and then I remember how pretty they are! As someone who works retail I cannot wait for this time of year to go by. I honestly just don't enjoy the holidays anymore which is kind of sad.
Your videos are my pick me up! ❤
Prayers for your Dad and family! Deb
❤ retail therapy, thank you!
thanks for watching, Denise!
I like my flat brush to be a little thicker. 🤷🏻I love the eco tools sponges and brushes, and no one ever talks about them
Continuing to pray for your family!
I have the same real techniques brush set. Use it every day😊praying for your dad!
My ELF black is one of my go-to's. Way better than some of my $$$$.
Prayers to you and your family 🙏🙏
I caught your cold! Didn’t want you to suffer alone🤧
Very considerate of you!😂
They DO need shopping carts!! Bc my children are the exact reason I never want to go. Lololol
Loveeee Jam on you 🍇😍
I luv my RT eye brush set!❤ They wash well too.. The face brush you used for your foundation, I use for my bronzer.. Great video as usual Emily❤😊🙏🙏🙏
Ok great! I'm going to try it that way next time :D Thanks for watching!
I actually use my makeup sponge dry😂 and I love it because it doesn’t soak up any of the product. Saw my sister doing this years ago so I tried it out and loved it😆
