IMPORTANT NOTES: All tests habe been made with BIOS 319, which was the newest Version as of making this video. (The hotfixed Version, which fixed the performance Issues the 319 BIOS initially had!) By now we're at version 323 which has been even better than 322. So the Performance would now be better than what you can see in the video! ALSO: Make sure to set the VRAM to 8GB as this will improve performance in almost ALL games! (It improves the 1% Lows aswell!)
The biggest problem with most people that don't like the ROG. I love it cause it plays all my games perfectly. Do I care if the FPS drop a little, No as long as the game doesn't stop working. And for those that have trouble setting things up to play the games good just remember it's not a Nintendo Switch. The ROG is a Computer that might have a little problems but not for people that know a little computer knowledge.
I have found all my games to run better on 8gb than 4gb in fact, haven't had any compatibility issues just better performance and no more studders/choppiness
IF that was true (and I'm not saying it's not!😅) that would be weird. The game needs RAM. Not 8gb vram. Especially on these low settings. 🤔 If you use 2 MEGAbyte of vram it should still work the same as it will use regular ram as vram anyways. Shouldn't make a difference.
@@Hubwood it’s an odd one as most games run fine on 4Gb for me but MW2 and the division 2 for example both run stutter free with 8Gb VRAM, anything less and they have slowdown and stutter. I am hoping we get a 6Gb option as I think that will be a good balance between ram and vram. Some of the newer aaa games defo need more vram to be stutter free.
@@Zionwolves Should really be a Problem of the game then. Because in theory there shouldn't be a difference between 4 or 4000 MB of VRAM on an APU. 🤷♂
@@Hubwood I agree with you but it may be an issue with how the system/windows dynamically scales the memory if/when it needs to peak over the standard 4Gb allocated. Possibly a real time ramp up/down issue
Thanks for the video. I first thought something must be wring with your ally, cause i get better or similar results on my SD at 15Wt! Then i realised that you probably did your test before the last 2 bios updates.
The bottleneck in BF 2042 is the power. 30W on a CPU+GPU heavy game means really low clock speeds on both. I found the initial burst up to 42W gave 10 fps more than 30W. I still would rather play 2042 on my desktop, but I was curious on how it could handle it.
Honestly, I haven't played that many games. However, my performance for COD was great online and campaign. I also tested GoW and it ran spectacularly. For some reason every RUclipsr get different performance metrics.
I don't understand people who are saying that good framerate maters only in fast-paced games. That's not truth - the higher FPS the more realistic and lively any movement become. Game genre or competitiveness means very little. For example both in first-person shooters and fly sim's slideshow is equally ugly.
for the new gamers coming to pc. if you get 40 fps, lock it at 30, if it runs over 60 but below 120 limit at 60. i dont see a point in using more power then that.
I said for new pc gamers. Once they see the fps counter they will try to get the most and make the experience worse. 30 is what console players have been on till just recently so it’s not gonna matter. It’s only stuffers because you got used to 60 and above. Once you play 30 for a bit it is unnoticeable. Also if you max at 40 I wouldn’t lock it there cause the frame drops if you get to a more intensive spot will most likely occurs that’s why I said down it and not keep it there. All the bad reviews of handhelds and the ally are mainly from un informed people with too high a expectation not the product.
I would only lock it on battery in that case. Or if the fps are really choppy (like on cyberpunk or hogwarts legacy for example) 40 fps is more fluid than 30 on the Ally due to the variable refreshrate. It really adds to the experience.
It's an old video! Some games require 6-8GB to work well. Others require automatic allocation to work... Reall depends on each game and should be looked up for each title separately.

Yes this dock allows the Ally to use it's full potential! You can see in the osd, that it's pulling the intended 30w. I also double checked if the dock was causing the performance issue. It didn't performance was the same with the dock or with the ac plugged in directly into the Ally.

😅 that's fine
Es heisst "AAAAllie", nicht "Elli" :D aber gutes video
Ja ich weiss, inzwischen hab ich's verinnerlicht. Nach den 376.871 Kommentaren die mich drauf hingewiesen haben 🙈
Still no TW WH3 gameplay
Yeah sorry I neither have it not play it ;) and I just can't test every single game out there :(
@@Hubwood it's ok. if youjust have time to demo it :)
I’d be really interested in who really is playing at 25W+ . It’s a mobile device with a small battery. So 15w max is a more suitable test I suppose. 🤷♂️. But seeing what this device is capable of makes sense
Yeah i wished I would have time to test all games with more of the Performance Modes... but even with only one this video took almost 2 weeks to finish ;)
@@Hubwood I bet! Thanks for the effort! I really enjoy your videos! 👍
Well it’s a pc with controllers it’s not really a console or a mobile device at max tdp it’s at 1650 performance which isn’t the best at running triple a games so anything below that isn’t gonna run extremely I intend on using the max tdp to get the 1650 performance
anyone who is smart enough to plug it in will use it that way. laptops are meant for the go too but how many use one at home plugged in as a main pc? MANY!
I don't know anyone who is using this as a mobile device. You get an hour of juice out of at best. I've not had it off the charger since I got it last month.
How to download games in rog ally?
I was using an external M.2 SSD via a USB Hub :)
Can you test deathloop
U have something bad with ur ally bc on my ally the fifa in 1080p medium settings run in 73 fps
Yeah I think something went wrong with fifa there 🤔
Rog eli
the overall 1% lows are kinda disappointing tbh, not too hapy with the results, not worth selling my good ol' steam deck.
though thanks for the huge test-spree and the informative & entertaining video!
Performance has improved by quite alot though. New bios updates. And using 8gb ore allocated vram does help alot aswell. Check the videos by the channel "filterless". And say hi for me ;)
Didnt get 1% low still
You can see them in the video....
Can you install cm01/02 on this ?
cant go from 100+ fps to 50-60, not 2012 anymore sorry
No handheld for you then ;)
😇😇@@Hubwood
Bro didn't play spiderman 😢
😔
I might do a small revisit of this video in a few weeks with new drivers. Maybe I can add it. But no guarantees and might take a while. Sorry!
A LAI reeeeeeeereeeeee
Yeeeees I knooooooow! I pronounced it wroooooong! I neeeeed toooo beeee cruuuuciiiifiiied!
Asus rog ali
yeah yeah yeah I pronounced it the "german way" back then. Sorry! Fixed that in future videos ;)
Idk why you would buy this and use a monitor and mouse.
❤
Allie ≠ Ally
Yeah yeah it's just my weird pronouncation 😂
agreed thats painful to hear.. ==> "AL-eye."
Cities: Skylines has the worst optimization. Can’t expect anything from that game.
Yeah tbh I was quite disappointed 😬
Having to resort to 720p for ANY game on a 1080p device is unacceptable in this day and age.
I'm not paying 800 bucks to play games on low at 25fps tho lol wtf
🎉
TURN ON 8GB in ARMOURY CRATE!! Your testing the device on 4GB of RAM!!
No. No. No.
If you always allocate 8GB as vram, the system and games will only have 8gb of ram left, which will be a problem in many games. You should not do that as a default setting.
It’s pronounced A-lie not A-lee
I knoooow (that by now 😂).
Pronounced it the German way. Sorry 🥴
Now everybody is looking weirdly at me when I say : "Ho-lie-wood is on strike". Need further instructions.
o get 160 avg on all low 900p fortnite
