The awesome thing about acrylic granny squares is that they are indestructible modular units. If your house is too full of blankets you can use the squares to make reusable grocery bags instead. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I'm a 3rd gen crocheter and there is literally no room for any more blankets or lace tablecloths in my house thanks to my mom and grandmother. We can stay warm and fancy for generations to come.

Yeah...that's why, before I started on RUclips, I made it a point to craft for the members of my family. So they could take my sordid forays into yarn crafting to THEIR homes. Not so much recently... 🤨

"Granny squares all the way down". Me: *snorts with laughter* whilst NOT staring at the large bag of crochet motifs.
When I got my first skein of Noro yarn I had my first experience of watching colour changes while knitting. So I totally get the pleasure you're having crocheting with those pretty colours in the granny squares.

I LOVE granny squares. They are so addicting. I once had a bag of squares I made, and then finally had a project to make them into. That might be what I’m going to do again lol. Also I might make one huge granny square scrap blanket - but we already have a bazillion blankets!
Edit: I love how you openly talk about MMO gaming - I used to play World of Warcraft with my husband, but now we play Sea of Thieves. I did knit and crochet during flight paths too, or waiting for dungeons and raids - now I do it as my husband and I sail our ship. Lol 😆
Edit (again): I made some granny squares into a cute shawl, it’s a long rectangular one that looks like a classic black bordered granny square blanket. I’m going to be adding tassels to the short side. I have a ton of dk yarn because I used to cut my Lion Brand Mandala cakes into small balls of color!

I like Caron Cakes for corner to corner (c2c) crochet. You can do it as one giant piece (handy for mindless crochet - increase until you’ve used half your yarn, then decrease for the other half), or you can make a ton of c2c squares. Linen stitch is good for a lighter weight blanket. Single crochet in the back loops is a cool texture. And the ‘classic’ c2c is cute, but personally the colour shift halfway through a ‘block’ of stitches makes my eye twitch.

Love your channel and your humour! When I was quitting smoking this time last year, I dug a pair of size 8 needles and some random ball of some type of cotton/wool/yarn and just knit and purled to keep my fingers and brain busy. When I got to the end of the ball (it ended up being just bigger than a granny square), I took the needles out, rewound the ball, and started again. Did it for weeks but it got me through the first 30 days.

I think it was the Great British Sewing Bee who had a clothing competition where people recycled Granny squares into clothing. There was a boxy, Chanel-style jacket and skirt that stole the show. Just to put that out there...
My lace pillow arrived this afternoon. So far I have a half inch of ribbon woven/stitched/made. I'm hoping I can get to the level where I'm doing the stitches on autopilot so I can plonk away during movies. So, not so much as a get it done February and more of distraction central.

Yup. Still daydreaming of starting a sewing and everything else channel while downsizing our wee little apartment. Every option I have for a cutting space is currently holding piles of things to sort through. Kon Mari meets Swedish Death Cleaning? Who knows. I was fondling it, thinking some of it was coming home with me and my son said, "Don't you have way too much yarn at home already, Mom?" Nothing like a teenager to bring you back to the reality of an overstuffed craft room. Today's chinook is crazy and the head is really feeling it. Sorry you suffer them too. Love the materials. I'll have to head over to Fabricland soon to check out their clearance section. Why do you have the little voice in your head too? I think we should hold an exorcism to banish it for good.
