Hi, just an idea for the efin. If you remove the spokes inside the circular housing around the efin propellor it would stop clogging reduce the need to keep reversing and extend battery life. what do you think Karl ? Love the channel btw be great to paddle with you but Im too far away
Great review and great hat, Karl! Fingers-crossed the issues are sorted now. I could have done with motorised assist for the last couple of hours of a round 9.5 mile paddle in my Itiwit X100 when travelling upstream from Poole harbour to Abbott's Quay in Wareham with the tide going out last summer. The X100 has it's central fin at the front, and it would be great to see the Hiqmar tested on it, but I doubt it is compatible with the Itiwit. I would still be interested to see it tested on other kayaks though to see how well they go with it.
Aye it might do. What is weird is so here in the Ottawa in Sport it eased to the right. In the Chelan at the weekend out eased to the left in Drive mode.
River flow and river Bank sides could have something to do with that mate but I'd suspect it would have more to do with either weight distribution or skeg mount being off centre, is the E-fin more stable in either mount?
Thanks for the videos of your tests with the Hiqmar e-fin. I’m definitely going to get an electric kayak motor for the longer trips and to help if having to paddle against the tide or wind. This seems to be the best of the bunch in terms of power, reliability and value. I’m also looking at the ePropulsion Vaquita which has more juice but about £300 more (plus the current model is discontinued pending them bringing a new one out). Is the Hiqmar still working ok for you after prolonged usage? Cheers
@@TheKayakCrew it's been ok so far although the battery in the remote isn't accessible. My efin stopped working just before Christmas which I think is because of the remote. Anyway Bill Higham and Hiqmar are aware this is an issue and they send out new remotes which need to be paired with your eFin. I've got the new remote just not paired it yet. Needless to say I'll be doing a video about it 😅👍
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner Ok, thanks. Sounds like there are some issues with reliability then, albeit the sellers seems to provide good after sales service.

Just brought one of my own. Coming at the end of the month. Great video
@@robhawthorne4623 I bet you'll enjoy it 👍😊
Another great vid. Glad you’ve finally got it running right. Great bit of kit. 👍🏼👏🏼
Aye it's pretty good 👍😁

It might help however on the other hand they are there to prevent the prop getting damaged. I think it's a catch 22! 🤷😁

Stay tuned... I've recently been out in the Chelan with it 👍😊
Oh, and I make the hats myself :D
I'd be interested to see if you can correct your straight line by just leaning the kayak, a bit like how you would steer a bike Karl.

@@daveholmes9369 it's equally solid in both.
👍 Interesting how a different battery charger would make a difference. Have you figured out why?
I haven't but apparently there have been a couple of others issued with the same problem 🤷😁
great review Karl, any hints about your big trip next year or is it a secret for the time being?
It's not me organising this one, so I don't want to say too much just yet 😁👍

@TheKayakCrew yes the initial batch had charger issues. But yes they're a good service provider 👍😁
Hi is it just inflatable kayaks that can join the group
No not really, it's just that's how the group started and what we're largely made up of 😊
