| Alessandro Michieletto (born December 5, 2001) is an Italian professional volleyball player and member of the Italy men's national volleyball team.
Career
Michieletto currently plays for Itas Trentino volleyball club as an outside hitter. His father, Riccardo Michieletto, is a former Italian volleyball player and his sister Francesca Michieletto also plays professional beach and indoor volleyball
With the Italian national team, he was named to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics squad. In his Olympic debut versus Canada, he led all scorers with 24 points in Italy's five-set comeback win.

I'm italian, so could look polarised, but at a first glance he didn't impress me so much since his spikes aren't all that powerful or "unblokable". Well, once I noticed that he's a 6'11" guy that play with skills and technique of a brazilian wing spiker, got to say he's a never seen before kind of volleyball player.

What exactly are the rules regarding how long you can contact the ball? Seems like the ball stays in his hand an awful long time on those throws/tips. Is it the angle? Timing? Contact point? I can't figure out where the consistency is. I guess setter dumps they contact the ball a long time and throw it down too. But why wouldn't more players do that and throw the ball straight down
There is not a properly rule,this is the problem... Every referee decide when to whistle a foul or not

if you conduct the ball only with the power move of your wrist, there will be any foul
and of course it's not allowed to hold the ball in the hand for too long

Honestly Nishida is not on par with Michieletto. Michieletto is amazing even among a world-class team, has the potential to be well on the way to be one of the world's best.
as a blocker Michieletto is not even slighly comparable to Nishida ,he is way superior,he simply humiliated the best spikers in the world.And he doesn t need to be the most explosive spiker, but to make a lot of points for his team , he s a reliable consistent brained player you can count on .Versatile without weak spots.And able to withstand the tension in the critical moments when mistakes count.A solid game changer.
He will be one of the best for the years to come.

Not all famous and amazing volleyball players are bulky. Just look at Wallace from Brazil, Andersons from USA and etc.
his body is made for volleyball, he doesnt need to bulk up maybe just a little more of lean muscle.
