That's my goal too brother. Have a moat around my home connected to a pond. That way I can fish from my bedroom window if I wanted and give myself the Illusion of being The King. For the .5-2 acres I'm going for I might as well be the King of it! Salute!
May want to go ahead and get a couple loads of gravel to fill that trench in so it doesn't collapse in on itself but the gravel let's the water flow. Maybe double check the slopes of your trench before you do that though.
I've been dealing with a similar issue for years at my house, and I have trenches like this ALL over. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from this issue and coming up with the same creative water ways! Keep up the vids!
Sorry its late almost thought for a second that i would get every episode out by 6 as planned ill be back just before it starts to chat Live and watch it with you.
Its gunna be one O’clock in the morning in England but I’m still gunna watch it . Is your land level, coz u might end up with a pond at one end, when u fill it. Nice to see you keeping positive about everything its why we are all watching God bless u & fam 👍👍👍👍🖖🖖🖖
Hi Fowler, in permaculture they use what they call Swales. They create small depressions in the ground and fill with wood bark. They use it because it holds water in the ground for longer, however one of the advantages is that if the bark is dry it will soak up excess water and reduce the rate of run-off. Another way you can reduce the water density in your soil is to grow plants along the trough! These will secure the ground and the plants will suck up water.
Are you going to dig the trench deeper? there will be a lot of water that is still flowing down towards your house that is running below the trench. You don't have to go mental, however if you are still getting water in your basement, it might be an idea to double the current depth to see if that helps.
Dude, yer not supposed to START OUT saying, "I guess i don't need the treadmill today" and hanging coats on it. That's supposed to happen a few months down the road
You know I bet the first movie released at the theaters when this is all over will gross $1 billion dollars... I don't care if it's staring a ball of pocket lint. Sorry it's my unrelated and highly random thought! Lol
22:12 hey @Fowlers! You can very cheaply and easily spray your ammo with *glow in the dark paint* , charge them with a flash light for 30 seconds before starting shooting and they will stay more then bright enough, long enough to see the trajectory! you get big tracers with the speed of the ammo!
That is awesome. Once you get a bakhoe or something for the rest of the trenches, expand it another footish toward the wet side and bring it down another couple inches at a slope from high to low, making some level spots for the 20ft pond to feed into that thing will be doing loads of work. You could add some rock to the bottom to promote flow along the slope.
Favorite RUclipsr of all time doesn't even matter what you are doing 87 day reanactment . Survival challenge . Or wilderness living challenge. Trick shot Tuesday it doesn't matter it's always good 👍 when a new episode comes out makes my day that much better Zach you the man brotha
You will need ag pipe and gravel. To help keep that warter trench following. Plus black plastic to seal your ponds so it doesn't go back in the water table.
Getting it done! If you get too much water running in that ditch or a trip hazard fill it with big gravel and make a French drain. Always good content! Watching every episode!
Put in a French drain and cover with gravel. It will prevent you from having a ankle breaker. Love the idea of ponds. Also plant water loving trees like willow, that can help to dry out the ground more.
Thanks Zach!! Sucks that I missed the live stream. Had the kids out fishing and when we got home the Scout Lt came in. So got it ready to shoot while we watched the new video. My son loves it.
You could put a trench in the basement, and a sump pump. What kind of exterior walls do you have down there? That mud is heavy because it's full of water. You looked like a Government worker, the way you were leaning on that "gold" shovel. I was almost out of swiss cheese, so I bought some today. :)
it runs out a low basement drain but the continual run of water is starting to wash out the loly columns. its faily solid cement foundation for now some damiged part.
@@FowlersMakeryandMischief When you say "cement foundation" do you mean cement blocks, or poured concrete? If it's blocks, I can tell you how to put in a drain system to keep your basement dry. It's one of the things I have been doing for 53 years. And, I think you could have Lally Columns. (invented by John Lally)
My dad was over and was tellimg me how he has dug this huge trench almost as tall as him then filled it with big rocks n gravel n it has helped so much n now he needs to do another same one on the otherside of the house... his whole yard is so compacted that he has to use a crowbar most of the way to break the super compated ground... hes 70plus yrs old... wish i was such a hard worker lile him... thats a ton of water in basment you got! Hope you have no mold. That suff is pain to get out
Here in Australia I live in a rural area (pretty much just bush) but we don’t have a town grey water system. Your trench is much like what our houses grey water trench is. We have a trench just like yours, but we filled it with small rock and then put soil back over the top. So the lawn looks exactly the same but there is a grey water flow straight down the middle of it. The only thing that tells us that it’s there is that the grass grows taller in those sections because there more water 😂
Sometimes you’ve got to do what you’ve for to do. Hope the trench helps resolve the bog issue. Nice coat rack. Watching every episode from the Andes mountains of Peru.
Cool explosives demo! What about complete darkness, ninja night vision, sling arrow shooting for maybe feral hogs? Surely there are some unwanted hogs around!
Some people think of this as a curse to have but this guy can make his back yard into a self sustaining pond, with natural flow of water during certain times of the year. That it pretty cool, I would make a pond big enough for fish and floating plants and maybe some frogs so it can eat mosquitoes.
A coat hanger with lots of moving parts. Since you have such a big yard, next time start a fire by shooting a fire arrow into the pile of wood or light a match with a slingshot and let it drop into a pile of flammable material. Have a do everything with a slingshot day.
I love your videos I have watched both of your 30 day survival challenges twice and this video is the best video I have seen in this series yet keep making these awesome videos

Pretty shovel. Cool video. I like the box opening with episode number.
May want to go ahead and get a couple loads of gravel to fill that trench in so it doesn't collapse in on itself but the gravel let's the water flow. Maybe double check the slopes of your trench before you do that though.
I'm going to have it dug wide and movable with stone on the bottom later in the year when it dries out
"High 5!"
"Ohhhhh"
You guys are such goofballs🤣❤️
I've been dealing with a similar issue for years at my house, and I have trenches like this ALL over. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from this issue and coming up with the same creative water ways! Keep up the vids!

I love your channel and your videos

Usually i stay Up to watch your Episode (it comes online at 12pm Here in Germany), but this time I will Go to bed and watch it tomorrow
Who cares if it’s late. As long as we get something 🙂
Your making fish head soup!!! LOL ... That's why you're running late!
O wait you went to Ted's Pizza. Lived in Rutland for 20 years....
I'm watching every episode. Like your new coat rack. Work hard and play harder.
You will have to smooth out the bottom of the chanel and have a slow down grade in the direction of the pond and have a dam or two to help it fill up
Watching all episodes, great content, thank you!
thanks for keeping on. will be watching all episodes!

Ya that's kind of what's will happen when it drys out and I can get back there with a tractor later this year

I am watching all your videos
Been watching all of the 30-day vids. Keep up the good work
Almost halfway already! These videos are flying by.
Dude, yer not supposed to START OUT saying, "I guess i don't need the treadmill today" and hanging coats on it. That's supposed to happen a few months down the road
;)
a few weeks*
That is what I do with mine!! lol :)
You make slingshots look like fun!
Pond is a neat idea! Looking forward to seeing that in action! Fishing in your backyard is I think everyones dream!!
Fowler: no high fives
Also Fowler: uses bare hands to make patties
Great job digging the ditch to drain the water. Should have a barrel by the garden to pump the water in barrel too water plants. Love the channel
I’m watching every episode. Thanks for your story
Rewatching every episode. Love the treadmill repurposed clothes hanger.
Helmanns Mayo... Zach, you need Duke’s!!! Hahahahaha
You know I bet the first movie released at the theaters when this is all over will gross $1 billion dollars... I don't care if it's staring a ball of pocket lint. Sorry it's my unrelated and highly random thought! Lol
@MilitaryBronyforlife I was so board, I was starving for some kind of fictional story that i found my self watching CNN.
I've watched every episode and now I'm rewatching it, woodobo is great on everything...

Keep it coming! Watching every episode 😁

My brother and I are watching and liking every video. Love them!
Trench, drainage ditch, most, whatever else you want to call it. Just remember to line it with small rocks or gravel at the bottom.
Yes the waterwheel idea is great
Used the same solution for a water issue around my house, deflecting water flow. Low tech most efficient, most cost effective.
Getting it done! If you get too much water running in that ditch or a trip hazard fill it with big gravel and make a French drain. Always good content! Watching every episode!
Love it. I've been using my old skateboards for moving stuff for years.
You could try planting a wide belt of trees to abstract some of that ground water. Willows and alders like their feet in the water.
Way to go! You did it again. You once again showed us how to be creative during this lockdown.
BRUTAL EDITING SCHEDULE!!!!!!!
I love you bro but I don't envy you.
Can’t wait for the video!
I'm watching every episode! My whole family enjoys your channel!
We call that a lateral groundwater movement interceptor, minus a couple pipes and some gravel that is.
I'm watching every episode. TY for the sharing.
The treadmill montage was pure gold!
I'm watching every episode. ✌️👍🍻
Watching every new episode and slowly but surely catching up.
Nice project and some fun as well. Makes for a good day. Watching every episode.
Put in a French drain and cover with gravel. It will prevent you from having a ankle breaker. Love the idea of ponds. Also plant water loving trees like willow, that can help to dry out the ground more.
I watch many times and down load all of your video to watch at work every break time.
I don't think you have too much time on your hands. Your just a creative person doing what you enjoy. No harm in be creative. ✌️👍
Pretty smart and using the shovel as a marker, have to say, NAILED IT
That is a normal Basement here in Michigan. Need some 4" PVC Pipe with holes. Then Pour some gravel around the pipe.
Love the gold shovel
Do a tiny fishing rod challenge
Thanks Zach!! Sucks that I missed the live stream. Had the kids out fishing and when we got home the Scout Lt came in. So got it ready to shoot while we watched the new video. My son loves it.
I’m watching every episode !!!! I love your videos I have probably watched almost all of them I love your slingshot videos.

I've been watching every video. Just decided to make sure that I posted on each video, today. Blessings.😇
Trust, but verify!
I'm watching every episode.
Cool explosives demo! What about complete darkness, ninja night vision, sling arrow shooting for maybe feral hogs? Surely there are some unwanted hogs around!
You may want to fill that with large crushed stone to keep it from collapsing. Perforated drain pipe in the bottom.
Some people think of this as a curse to have but this guy can make his back yard into a self sustaining pond, with natural flow of water during certain times of the year. That it pretty cool, I would make a pond big enough for fish and floating plants and maybe some frogs so it can eat mosquitoes.

Not too much time on your hands, you just have an active imagination. That's not a bad thing. (watching every episode.)
