I was in 5th grade in 2004 when I first heard this song.. still gives me the same feels as the first time I heard it even after so many years 💖 love, from India
Vienna Teng is extraordinary. Perfect composition, fascinating subject matter. I was lucky enough to see her at Mccabe's in LA, and it's a memory I will always cherish. She understands the piano and song structure in a way that very few people do. She is vastly underrated, and I hope that changes soon. She's an incredible musician, and her art has made my life substantially better. Thank you Vienna, you deserve the utmost success.
I know what you mean; saw her in Austin in a 50 person hangout with my ex-wife. Just THAT group singing along was intoxicating and I can't carry a tune. It was like 2005, whenever I hear her I remember that and even though several of Teng's songs were like,"our" song the feeling is always the same heartfelt lifting joy.
yay! Took my daughter first when she was six years old, just starting to learn to play piano, she tried or me she wanted to play like Venna, and now 11 years later we saw her on Dec 26 in Berkeley at the Freight and Salvage, my daughter is an exceptionally talented pianist, perhaps from her early exposure to Vienna Teng.
Hey love, Is that the name you're meant to have... for me to call. Look love, they've given up believing, they've turned aside our stories of the gentle fall But don't you believe them. Don't you drink their poison too. These are the scars that words have carved on me. Hey love, that's the name we've long held back from the core of truth So don't turn away now... I am turning in revolution. These are the scars that silence carved on me. This is the same place. No, not the same place This is the same place, love. No, not the same place we've been before. Hey love, I am a constant satellite of your blazing sun. My love, I obey your law of gravity. This is the fate you've carved on me... Your law of gravity... This is the fate you've carved on me... On me.
I just found this artist through 8tracks and I am beyond in love with her voice. I’m going through her music now on RUclips! So glad I found this artist !!!
I hadn't heard of Vienna before, but apparently they're my older siblings favorite artist. They don't talk to me anymore so it hits kinda hard. I like to think I have a piece of them with me when I listen to this.
Absolutely love her beautiful voice and this song says it all. So happy I found her. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video and God Bless 🙏🏽🌹 How beautiful would her voice sound even more with a violin 🎻
She first appeared on my Pandora Tori Amos Channel years ago probably either with "Feather Moon" or "Blue Caravan" or maybe it was "My Madea" . It doesn't really matter if I can't remember what exactly the first song I heard was though because I was hooked right from the beginning either way. It is very rare for an artist to put out such consistently good work album after album. Just one song after another that is well-written, beautifully performed and capably produced. I agree 100% with what a lot of the other comments are saying. Too many people are missing out on this great music.
Is love related to gravity? Gravity is a force attracting bodies to a center. Maybe love attracts humans to a common center. But here we see a man being resurrected. He is not falling into a state of inertia but is regaining life. Love is also enlivening. So then is love distinct from gravity in that regard? But gravity is also cohesive and is a force keeping things together. So maybe it preserves and supports like the force of love and is unlike inertia in that regard.
I crawled down the rabbit hole trying to figure out where this video was shot, using the windmill in the video as a start. The windmill that poor Mr. Lovelorn walks up to appears to be an exact match for the Marymoor Windmill in Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington. Redmond is a suburb of Seattle best known for being the location of the Microsoft Corporation's headquarters. As a longtime resident of Seattle, I should have been tipped off sooner by the dreary gray gray skies. :) The distinctive brick base of the windmill confirms the ID. Some of the scenes in the video might have been shot on Marymoor's Heron Loop Trail, but that's just a guess. Discovery Park in Seattle would have been a reasonable place to find a driftwood beach, as would Myrtle Edwards Park or maybe some place out on Vashon or Whidbey Island. The dress Ms. Teng wears was made by Maggie May Clothing, who blogged about the work they did for the video. Based in Tennessee, they do a lot of work making historically appropriate clothes for film. This set me on wild goose chase for an hour or so hunting down all of the Dutch windmills in Tennessee, Alabama , and Georgia, of course none of which were a match. They've disallowed linking in comments, but you can find pictures of the windmill by searching for "Marymoor Park Windmill" and you can find Maggie May's commentary about making Ms. Teng's dress for this video by searching for "Maggie May clothing Vienna Teng."
Answering the question for the idly curious: the scenes with the piano were shot on Whidbey Island, not far from Seattle, in Washington State. The Internet Wayback Machine has several blog entries from the filmmakers and from Teng with amusing stories and pictures involving the production of this video.
Hi, I’m the DP for this video. I can’t remember exactly where the first part with the harbinger waking up was shot but I want to say Cape Disappointment. The main beach shots were shot on Double Bluff Beach on Whidbey Island. We had a hell of a time dragging that piano over all the deadwood in the bitter cold. Other shots like the water in the hands sequence were at a private residence on Whidbey. The windmill was indeed at Marymoor Park and the sequence towards the end where he’s digging a hole and emerges was shot in Pine Lake Park in Sammamish. We didn’t have permission to dig that hole so we had to shoot the scene stealthily and fast lol :)
The original post of this video (by the film maker) got over half a million views but was taken down... Sad that we can't transfer those to the reposted video. Keep sharing it!
@@AAparallel Is it known "WHY" it was taken down? I (profoundly gratefully...) arrive here by a stan at PLAYITANDBEDAMNED.BLOGSPOT.COM ~ which (2013) had an 'acct. removed' note at its #GRAVITY 📼 spot.

Can't believe she isn't getting millions of views
leslie katona But it is cool knowing that she's our own secret source of personal bliss.......for the lucky few.
She doesn't fit the mold of mass produced corporate overlords. Better she stay relatively unknown to protect her from crass consumerism.
She is a true respectable artist. Love her songs.
fr still to this day
Agreed

i love her style so much
Just discovered her music this week. So great. Piano style reminds me of Tori Amos, chill of Sarah Mclachlan, but with such a unique, amazing voice.

Wow. I didn’t expect my heart to be ripped out and stolen by a RUclips pianist
UGHHHH YASSSSSSS
Love her music. Was she influenced by Sarah McLachlan?
leslie katona Yes, she says she was, and also by Carole King.
Thank you Dennis Webb
Also Tori Amos, but I think she is infinitely better than Tori.
Very Jane Campion's 'The Piano'.

The song is very pretty and so is her voice, but the video is confusing me. Did he dig up a coffin?
It was his own coffin, and ended with the realization that he was a ghost. From what I've read, this song is about a relationship that never developed.
This video never makes any sense to me @_@
Good song! But she is not beautiful enough
She is gorgeous!
What?! She is stunning!
Good music for a buffalo funeral..
