Would be interesting if the BBC were to catch up with these ladies and the Dungeness Lifeboat Crew of 2022.

I need to know what the _effects of mineral oil on_ is about, as seen at 02:58 on the "Cautionary Notice". Perhaps they lubed the wooden ties with mineral oil to assist in the launching process?

I love stories of heroic women who defied convention and did what wasn't expected of them, although they probably just thought they were doing what had to be done. Not women's work indeed!

Why don't they just leave the boat in the water?

Erosion. A boat's hull will require lots and lots of maintenance if left in water, which means docking every so often and completely redoing the hull
That and there's nowhere to really leave it in water, it's gonna get bashed around by waves, forced ashore, or stranded when the tide receedes (which it does, heavily)
