I took my dad fishing at age 70,he used to take us when we were kids but he never fished.I bought him a heavy duty rod and real and he reluctantly went.Set him up for gar. That day he caught a 6 foot gar. His 80 now and told me he has never had that much fun in his life.He is hard core fisherman now.☺☺☺
Great video Coop! I've been watching your stuff the past two years and you do an amazing job. I'm actually headed down to Corpus next week for family Thanksgiving and looking forward to hitting up the surf and Packery. Great timing on this one man! I'm all psyched.
That first red was huge. Judging by that fact that you're like 9' tall, I'm gonna say it was 60 inches! LOL 😂 But you didn't tell us that you love us at the end. I feel so empty and alone inside. Great job, Coop. A new TF video always puts me in a good mood. You spread happiness, bro. That's a gift.
You always have the best music bro!! Just makes it have an awesome feel to the video. Cant really explain it, it just makes me smile. Keep up the quality work my dog.
Sweet trip to the surf. That bonnet wasn't on the before winter bucket list but she's a beauty. Pro-tip from a knowledgeable amateur, epoxy on some white or yellow thread to your rod (at for example 20", 30" and 40") to quickly work out the size of your fish.
Next time lay the fish down and mark the sand, you can come back and measure after you release him. Thats what I do with the bigger fish. Great trip man. I love your videos. Keep at it!
Coop never disappoints!!! Beautiful red homie!!! You sir get me so pumped to go fishing, not that I need anything else to get me pumped lol. Good shit brotha!!!
Those clouds looks crazy cool! Love the vids dawg u should do a giveaway type thing for one of your viewers to be able to fly out and go fishin with you
I can't wait to see you do travel videos like some of the other popular fishermen. Your edits and personality make you the best in my opinion. Stop over here in the Philippines. We have some monster fish here from shore. I am from Indiana, but have lived and fished here every weekend for 6 years now. I do both shore and boat.
I'm originally from San Antonio and my buddies and I would drive down to Port Aransas back in the day and fish the surf all around the Horace Caldwell pier and down the beach towards Big Shell. We would catch BIG Bull Reds using live crabs for bait out past the third sandbar. Especially in the fall during the annual run. I'm talking 30+ pound fish! Those were the days!
Years ago, when my folks had a cottage on Long Island Sound, I netted a particularly large softshell blue crab and decided to use it as striper bait for nighttime surf fishing. I tied it onto the hook, cast it out, and before long I caught..... not a striper, but the biggest damn eel I'd ever seen. Turnabout is fair play, as they say, and since we often used a chunk of eel as bait for blue crabs, this particular eel must've thought it had a chance to even the score. Unfortunately for the eel, sauteed eel tastes really good in my opinion, so....
Coop, awesome video, but at 9:21, you have a serious issue in the shot, get it fixed, you don't need a ticket for that issue, great catches and tight lines Coop ! Keep up the great work !
Looks awesome bro. I'm so jealous. We came down a month ago. Did ok but no bulls. This makes me want to load up and haul butt back down. I was at the 56 the day you shot your last vid.
I live in South tx near Corpus Christi, TX. I fish in a small town 40min South of CC called Rivera, Tx. We catch them bull reds all the time. We never keep them though Never ever caught a Spanish fish though. I watch your videos regularly. Keep it up bro and good luck n
Nice Drum - you need to add casting reels to your surf set up. Get yourself a Fathom 12 or 15 and you won't have to wade out anymore. You will be able to cast way past those spinning reels without getting waste deep in the water.
Idk if anyone else has said this or not but with that bonnet head shark i believe you wouldve taken the world record currently of only like 36” that was by far the biggest i have ever seen
At 8:50, that's barely a bluefish. At that size we call them Harbor blues, or Tailors; just a size or two up from snapper blues. Even at that size, they do sport a vicious set of chompers (wire leaders are a good idea, even when fishing for stripers, because the blues will take so much of your gear if you don't use wire). ! When I was a kid up here in New England we used regularly catch 6 to 8 pounders ( at that size they're not so oily and make decent eating; but smoked bluefish is much better). One year they were averaging 12 to 14 pounds!. Hook one of those on fairly light gear and it's like grabbing a tiger by the tail.
@Edward Plitt There are 3 types of hammers commonly caught in gulf waters: greater, scalloped and bonnet head. Greater can get enormous and can be aggressive, scalloped are smaller but still pretty big, and bonnet heads, which are far smaller and have heads shaped more like a shovel than a hammer.

No maybe 40 inches
@@yallsuck3282 That was humor as an obvious exaggeration, LOL. It was conveyed as humor by stating that Coop is 9' tall, which he obviously is not. 😉
more like 38.. but solid fish
Finally off the jetty and on the beach! YES!
With winter coming I'm guessing he'll be back at the bridge as soon as that cold wind starts whipping...skinny boys don't do cold.

That's the biggest bonnet head shark I've ever seen..they are usually half that size
Hammer Head Shark.
My first shark was a bonnet head, and it was only about 18" long.
