    13:32, what happened here is what I sometimes call writerspeak where it’s nominally a character who is saying something but it’s actually the writer. Since it’s out of character for Harry to say this but the writers felt compelled to interject their own objections to Dumbledore’s behaviour into Harry’s dialogue

    What we need to tie things up is a part 3 on the sweets selling Lady on the Hogwarts Express. 😂 That scene shocked me for all the wrong reasons.

    A big strength/weakness was making it part of the Harry Potter series. Expanding it to another wizarding school/community independant of the wizarding wars feels like a better idea. It would expensive, but imagine if international productions adapted the plot to take place in that country, ie Ilvermorny in USA productions, Castelobruxo in Latin America, Mahoutokoro in Japan, etc.

    • @MediaRetrospective-sb2pt
      @MediaRetrospective-sb2pt  4 месяца назад +4

      Yeah, I think a common trap sequels fall into is relying on familiar characters & settings too much. It'd have been much more interesting to see a completely different time period or geographic location.

    Is there anything about the book/play/script you like? For me it's the scene where Draco admits to having been jealous of Harry for having actual friends and admirers. It sounds super-cheesy but the way it's contextualized it did ring true to me.

    • @MediaRetrospective-sb2pt
      @MediaRetrospective-sb2pt  4 месяца назад +8

      Hm I think the only 2 bits that I genuinely liked were Ron and Hermione being honest with each other before sacrificing themselves to the dementors in one of the timelines (even though the whole timeline thing didn't make sense), and I actually like the idea that Albus feels overwhelmed by his father's legacy, although they didn't have to make Harry a bad dad to do that.
      I have mixed feelings about the Draco scene. I think on its own its a nice moment between Draco and Harry, but at the same time I kind of feel like I never got that vibe from him in the books. He seems to have his own friends in Slytherin house, he certainly cared enough for Crabbe and Goyle to ask Harry to go back and save them. I'm not sure.

    All these analysis videos of the play/script and even other some things of Harry Potter lore that I’ve watched- is that the fans/readers are better writers than the official ones. This is also why I can’t give up the world- especially HP fanfics or ships. Majority of the fan base know and have written better versions of the entire main cast either in alternate versions or as adults. There’s a reason that the ship fics and the marauders have been so popular in the fan spaces.

      You're completely right. I've read some truly great and memorable fanfics of Harry Potter (and other series as well). Obviously the full credit goes to the author who created the original world and characters, but fanfics shouldn't be discounted. If I ever have the good fortune to become a published author, I'd love for people to take create fanfics of my work.

    They have Cedric not just score terribly but I believe also made everyone laugh at him (floating in the air with a bubble head charm with his pants down) and sees someone that looks like Harry, blaming him. Which if correct still makes no sense as they're in the crowd in durmstrang robes, while Harry is in the black lake fighting mermaids.
    They need to have it that Cedric was under the imperius curse and Voldy is using everyone's trust in him to get to them/ sneak attack, starting with Neville (the other child that could have been the chosen one, can't have him trying to take Harry's place after he's dead)

    • @MediaRetrospective-sb2pt
      @MediaRetrospective-sb2pt  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah they really humiliated him. But the whole thing just really doesn't make sense, like couldn't Cedric flag with the judges that somebody interfered? I'm sure they'd at least investigate, and it'd definitely be against the rules. For example they could check his wand and see he didn't cast the charm. As well as the things you mentioned.

    Thanks for making part 2! You could probably make more tbh it was so bad haha, were there any scenes you liked? I only liked 2 - the scene where Albus tells Snape he is named after him and the scene where Harry and Albus watch Harry's parents be killed (although it doesn't really make sense)

      I liked the second one you mentioned, although it didn't make sense as you said. And I also liked when Ron and Hermione make their final stand together against the dementors in one of the time lines. I think that's it to be honest!

    The only way I can see Hermione become like that in the 1st AU world is this.
    She was seen to distance her self from the boys when Ron was dating Lavender in movies. If it was Padma that kissed Ron in the Common room and became a bit over bearing, with Ron not knowing how to deal with it, not used to so much attention but she's just trying to help him (taking advantage of her inferiority complex make him into a suitable partner. Hermione sees this but the boys think she's paranoid/jealous.
    The rift widens Harry becomes busy dating Ginny. Hermione tried to help them when things go weary, she's wearing the necklace and storms off, with no way of finding them fending for herself, she misses the battle, not their when needed them the most. She wasn't there during Hogwarts darkest hours, she tries to make it up by helping out as a teacher.
    Harry tries to reconnect when he's getting married but Ron and Patma (who fought together at the battle & bitter she didn't) are not very welcoming, there's a big fight & Hermione again walks out & doesn't come back. When Harry & Ron become fathers they try again, Hermione is still mad and is not happy about Harry's name choice, seems like Harry has forgotten the kind of vindictive man he was, "he was the bravest man I ever knew, always working to help us win, didn't abandon us like some people" (the ministry twisting/harding him, distancing him from his friends and family, not there to stop them becoming their worst selves)
    *Hermione is outraged and takes it upon herself to remind him what Snape was really like, becoming just like him across about 15 years.*

      This would be a really sad timeline, I can't imagine Hermione just walking away from the other 2 to this extent though. Even if she had issues with Ron, Harry and her would still be close, and she'd never let him go hunting for the horcruxes without her.

I'm surprised they didn't made alternative timeline where characters like Neville or Luna are death eaters who torture 1 year muggleborns with forbidden curses becouse fuck character consistency am I right? Authors keep trying to make time travel work, they should just stay away from it (although the play had plenty of problems without it anyway tbh).
