Aged 10, Anthem was the first album I bought, listened to it hundreds of times. Lots of family problems at the time, parents just divorced, little money, new home and new school. Anthem helped me kind of escape in my head. Listened to it on cassette and large black headphones. The creativity of it all, as a 10 yr old - I just couldn’t get my head round it. Felt like the distant future had arrived. Not listened to Anthem for decades but recently some of the tracks came back into my head and I wanted to hear them again. Thanks Toyah
One of my best ALBUMS of the 80s.

probably the best album ever ever introduced into the world....
If I was stranded on a desert island and only allowed one album of music, this would be it.
A long time ago but I still have my Anthem LP and my crush on Toyah :)

I sold mine in 1988 and a big regret. I can't get it on CD now and I have to refer to you tube.
big fan oyah xx
I'm not saying there aren't artists around today making music this good, but Anthem reached #2 in the UK charts. With rare exceptions, quality just isn't popular anymore. Sad.
going to see her in Cardiiff, only 200 tickets and got one !
Back when chart music was innovative
Nigel Glockler of Saxon???
yes
Shame there was no video, she could of knocked them out!!
This is neo progressive?
