Yes this is exactly how I did it :) nice!
Bro u created a RUclips escape room and you're also the instructor
I listened to yours today in my car and it sounded phenomenal
Everything ingenious is simple :)
Amazing track - incredible concept.
Now all we need is a Spotify release from VirtualRiot so I can add it to my playlist
Others took half an hour to show us how. You took 1 minute 25. Respect.
OH man thank you, I stumbled a video called "I heard you like polyrithm" 2 days ago that did exactly that and trying to reproduce it was pain without this method and you uploaded that yesterday.. Perfect timing and perfect youtube recommendation.
Edit: oh I just read the description. :p
I never tried to recreate the other video, but other than that, SAME. I was still thinking about how it was done.
We all tried to reproduce it lol. I spent two full days trying to figure it out. Thanks for the video
thank you, great video. i've watched others trying to explain this recently, but this video is the one that really made it click for me.
I watched the virtual riot video the other day and had no clue how they laid those midi patterns out, I kinda assumed it was a plugin loll. Good tutorial.
thanks dude!, wondered how VR did it... simple and eficient!
Good to see someone saw the virtual riot video.
Thanks for this
So much fun!
Thanks so much, knew it would be something simple.
I managed to do something like this in StudioOne. Very cool. Thanks!
Thats amazing. Thanks for sharing
Now I can die in peace, thanks for sharing
😂😂😂
Thank you! I thought he used the arp device and recorded it into midi but this makes a LOT more sense and is a lot easier hahaha
Oh, wow - thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for letting me know
Beautiful
i tryed but failed but didnt fail after this video ty foxfall 🤩
It's beautiful
Thx for that really helpful video. I´m coming near to the concept, but having a hard time to get into this warper marker thing.
Tried it for three times now, ending up in chaos 😆
wow this one is a blast
love both of u guys thank you c3
So cool! Thank you :)
thank you so much!
not me wondering what Wave Sequence by Pendulum sounds like lol
Duuude big up ❤
cool, thanks!
Ludwig Göransson, Yosi Horikawa etc be crying now
Gracias
So that's how its done
Спасибо чувак!
No math required 😂🤦 thank you for demonstrating. Appreciate
im happy i figured it out myself!
tho watching this video wouldve helped...
MY MAN
So interesting how you can do this
mate you can do that with an arpegiator midi effect

I wondered how this was since
Can this be done in Logic Pro? I can't find the equivalent of a warp marker in the piano roll. I have tried exporting the separate parts as audio files and then used the flex tool like the warp tool but then I can't shorten the notes at the end. Any ideas?
this is about midi notes and gates, not about sounds or samples
fiiiineeeeee im gonna learn ableton
you can do it in any sequencer, Fruity Loops or Reason also.
Do you know how you would do this in something like cakewalk? I can't seem to find an equivalent to the warp marker.@@jinacisvet
I liked the VR idea. but sometimes it just didnt fit... must be a big challenge to get it right.
Yeah it's mostly off grid, but they do line up at points. Specifically if you divide the playtime into 4 equal parts. In my case I made it 1 minute long so it lines up at 15 Seconds, then 30 secs and then 45, and obviously at the end. If I had a metronome or a click running you'd hear it best
I think this method can be done in fl in a same way ) Cool ) Thanks )
do you know how?
Do you have a keyboard shortcut to select all for a specific note? That was the most tedious part work flow wise
If you click the respective piano key on the left of the piano roll you automatically select all midi notes of that specific note. You can see me do that from 0:58 on for every row
Hey you’re back! Hope you’re doing alright
Hi! I'm doin fine, thanks for asking! Really need to get back to upload my stuff here again haha
can someone upload a MIDI File?
If someone can make a max for live device where you can just chord play and it triggers these settings as a held sequencer with adjustable clock division rates i will give you money
How do you get the notes to snap?
Anyone know if there is a method of doing the same in FL ?
its literally the exact same in the fl piano roll
had no idea fl had that there@@hairbruh4915
rob swire a fool for passing this up
having a lot of trouble getting the warp marker to show up at the end of the clip in order to move it like you do, any ideas?
It only shows up if you highlight midi notes. I'm trying to think of issues that could cause it to not show up but can't think of anything beyond maybe the last note being somewhere out of vision?
I figured it out! I accidentally had super long notes rather than individual ones, so it wasn't able to warp one long note in the same way it warps the individual ones. Thanks for posting this! @@Foxfall
Thought its Bitwig, or is this Ableton skinned like Bitwig?
Well ✅ done
hehe:) nice)
The algorithm going hard rn I just saw the other poly clip a week ago
Oh yeah this was me basically trying to figure out how Virtual Riot did it haha
@@Foxfall well good job bro 😎
awesome!!! take your follow un your like jajaj
I see just one minor proplem with this method. But there's a simple fix for this.
First some basic theory about polyrythms, so we're on the same page. You have a time window w and you want n+0 times that note, n+1 times another note, n+2 times yet another note, ... Of course, it's still a polyrythm when with n+x you skip some values for x. e.g. n+0, n+2, n+3, n+5, ... You could even skip n+0 and it's technically still a poly rythm. Yes, this sounds pretty mathematical, but there's a reason you often hear that music is math.
Virtual Riot did not skip n+0*, you did (which of course, is not wrong). Becauce of that, in Virtual Riot's video, there was still the n+0 note which was still in (I think) 1/8 notes. Because of that, the decending pattern restarted in sync with the kick with the n+0 note. In the beginning of the track, when there is not yet that much chaos, it's pretty obvious, but even later, it is still notable. That won't work like this with this method because you're missing the n+0 note which stays in sync.
*I think he also had a pattern like n-0, n-1, n-2, n-3, ... That will chang if a sequence will start or end in sync.
Why is it different with your method and how can we fix it?
At the end, you're also shortening the row of the lowest note. That makes it into the n+1 note. Just don't do that. Leave the lowest row unshortened and delete the last note instead. And for the other notes, shorten them in a way that there's also one overhanging note at the end you then delete.
No, wait. I have to correct myself correcting you.
Don't delete the last overhanging notes. Those will be the ones that finally line up again in the end.
is there a way to do this in FL studio?
You can lay it out exactly like this person did and highlight each layer of notes in the piano roll and stretch them to fit into the amount of bars you want
Its just the same
Its just the same
@@silaz2474 Oh nice! ty ty! I have it sounding the way I want it :)
@@julesdemaeyer3194 FR it was so easy when I figured out the macro
who else came in thinking it was pendulum dnb?
anyone know how to do this in logic? lol

Sooo, how i do it in fl? 👉👈
People should stop using super expensive softwares and great melodies for fun and start making music like LTJ bukem instead
Recent music is just a lot of waste of time and effort for some polyrithmic melodies, i think that people like virtual riot have too much potential and popularity for something that isnt as good as old music.
Sometimes i see people with actual tools, Quality softwares and studios and all they can do is make a small song, and they put effort on something that isnt even good or has sence on it.
I feel like real music is going away and the people that actually made music and put personality and work to make a song that makes you feel relaxed or inspired are not getting attention.
As an rookie in music i can tell that people nowadays preffer low effort beats, simple polyrithmic melodies, songs that have bad words in them, loud and meaningless beats, straight up ear bleeding bass or people with a lot of views that make things that doesnt apport in anything or make you feel something.
Real producers are dying and that is making me wanna quit something i like just bescause some random dude that gets like 5k views because of a simple showcase while people that make beautiful melodies with great ambientation are not getting the attention they deserv.
I wish people really understands what is music
I feel like if this is your mindset, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the words "Real" and "Music." Music is subjective, there are no objective standards when it comes to things sounding good and what is good. Music that you like might sound like pure garbage to me, and vice versa. I don't personally enjoy some of the more popular music with the trap vibes and heavy language, but often times they're used to paint stories; like a lot of music/art are.
Your definition of music does not mean "real producers" are dying, they aren't. It's okay to not enjoy certain vibes when it comes to music, all people do that. But I think it's ridiculously naive to think music today is bad and real producers are dying lol That sounds like a really exhausting mindset to be trapped in, and if I thought the way that you do I'd probably get unmotivated/uninspired myself.
@@nokturnal886 Is not the problem of Vibes that gets me, is the problem of dumb people that dont know how to make music install something that a normal person like me cant afford.
I think the music they make is good in beats, melodies and arragements, but people offten use those things to make something that offends and insults other people or culture, or most of the time they just goof arround and try to make a single melody and they get a lot of views by doing something as simple as making a single Amen break section.
