the vinegar doesn't need to be used sparingly. the leather gets between the pores of the leather to kill the mold as well as remove grit. instead of a dishsoap use a woolwash soap.
I useed to live in Illinois and I have a Harley Davidson black leather jacket that cost over $300. I now live in Florida, the humid capital of the country. I went to my closet the other day and was appalled to see my beautiful black Harley jacket covered in mold spores. Thank you so much for this video. I am going to clean it tonight.
I did use Dawn dish detergent that's all I had with the Murphy's wood Oil Soap. But I decided that since I have Bergamot essential oil I am going to put some of that into my solution for my second coat. It has anti-bacterial and anti-infective properties I don't have any Lysol on hand at the moment. most information I found said to take care of it ASAP when you find out it has mold.
Here is the thing. Removing mold from leather is not difficult at all. On leather mold does not penetrate deeply into the surface of the material. The problem with cleaning mold off of leather relates more to clothing than furniture because of other materials in the clothing product. For example Almost every leather jacket has the same type of satin like liner. Removing the surface mold off the jacket is as easy as wiping off the mold material and then disinfecting the area. The question is how do you get the mold out of that more porous lining material? You cannot simply wash it like you would other fabric because of the leather. But doing a surface wipe on that material wont work either. So while this might be good elementary instruction, it really does not address the full scope of the actual issue.

I had these AMAZING leather boots I got from a thrift store, perfect for beach walking and they had liners on the inside... Only there was mould, ALL OVER the footbeds, so I'm going to try this and see if I can avoid having to throw them away. The thought that the thrift store I go to might unknowingly be selling mouldy products to their customers seriously disturbs me, and thus before I begin cleaning the boots tomorrow, I am taking them back to the store so I can show the problem to the clerk. Then I will say that the store staff needs to watch out for mould in the donations they receive, and to inform donors that the thrift store can't accept things with mould on them.
I would like to highlight the negative effect of the government removing the subsidy for blood testing strips. Diabetics need very frequent blood testing - around 5+ times a day. The cost of 100 strips is $70-$90. Outcome: reduced blood glucose testing and more hospital admissions from hyperglycemic or hypoglycemic (high blood sugar or low blood sugar) reactions...or death because people didn't know their levels. I am asking that everyone could put this as their status for one hour. Think of someone you know or love who has or has had diabetes. To honor those who have fought or are fighting diabetes. Don't type anything. Don't even comment. Hope to see it as your status. Copy and paste, don't share. Thank you!
I'm trying to remove week old water mold from the inner area of my tall boots. I've tried vinegar and wipes and sprays and the stains are still there. any other tips? please these boots were expensive
If you use Olive Oil make sure Popeye don't catch you when he's had some Spinach !! You will get a BAAAAAD WHOOPIN" !!! Especially if you PUNISH HER .... LOL !!
low quality content. you literally scrubbed soapy water on leather with zero knowledge/explanation. sad cause you hinted at some understanding when mentioning avoid degreasers… waste of time.
This is good advice. To quote Ed Norton, "There's always hope where there's water and soap."

Viran Invictus
Isopropyl alcohol? I have seen a written tutorial about it on how to use isopropyl alcohol on leather with mold
I believe the removal depends on the leather surface; removing mold from suede is more involved than from smooth leather.

I have a Italian leather jacket - Can I use Olive Oil?
what you did there... i see it
Always ask Popeye before using Olive Oyl.

I tried this on exterior of leather boots, but the mold came back
Please don't use dish soap on leather you will ruin it in the long run. Use leather or saddle soap only on leather.
What about castile soap? That's pretty gentle.
@@phiksit Not made for leather

Great jacket. where do I get that from?
What do you think of Mineral oil?

Thanks, lady.

Do NOT breath this in. It will grow in the body and it can cause candidia.
Put this good woman to good use
That did not work. How about mold stains?
