Dude, I just discovered your channel... And it's absolutely amazing!!! There's a lot of valuable information, well explained and thoroughly documented with sources cited in the description. I've never come across a channel so dedicated to knowledge. Please, keep up the great work.
I have used Kali Linux a lot of time after the BackTrack days but never knew we can simply change the sources and apt will change Debian install into Kali. All the tutorials simply points to download a Kali Linux ISO and start from there. Awesome Tutorial Marc !
Many thanks Vibhu! Yes - BackTrack ;-) once upon a time;-) You see - changing the apt sources from debian to kali is no different from changing them from stretch or buster to bullseye;-)
Stumbled upon this video today. Never used Kali personally although I thought this video was put together very nicely. A good introduction to how APT works and repositories for those who didn't know, also thought it was great that you went over how Kali is like Debian. I appreciate that you even gave reference to a fellow content creator. You seem like a great creator, and you've rightfully earned my subscription.
A lot of great information is packed in this sole video, cyber security, virtualization, Linux Administration, and cloud. Thank you Marc, and look forward to the next one.
Nice work Marc, never thought about this method. You opened my eyes little wider with this vid. There's really absolutley no reason to run bare metal anymore! Thanks bro!
bro i will be honest i have seen many many video on creating gui on ec2 machines and everytime i cant get it right but ur video i made kali and gui with icewm uff in just 30 min , u really gained a sub here from me
Related to this, some years ago I was wanting to do some vulnerability testing from a remote Amazon AWS instance (probably Debian). I was using tools like nmap for port-scanning. To be clear, I was using it for scanning my company's systems (outside of Amazon's ecosystem) for which I had full permission. Amazon contacted me pretty quickly to say that I couldn't engage in that type of activity with their systems unless I signed up for some sort of pen-testing authorisation. The fact that Amazon had mechanisms in place to observe my activity as well as this pen-testing enrolment put me off using their cloud services for these purposes.
This is the first video in a series of 5 this week - let's see how we can turn a Debian Linux into Kali Linux using apt. You may also like this video from @Chris Titus Tech : ruclips.net/video/oroSkR4Nn_w/видео.html
I've been using MobaXTerm for a Windows x-server for a couple months and I like it a lot. I don't use its session manager or anything, just run mobaxterm in the background and let it do the server thing, then 'ssh -X remote' from my usual cygwin shell (making sure to set DISPLAY properly on remote), then everything works great. I've used various other X-server software on Win, but this one is by far the easiest to install and it requires no configuration.
Hey, many thanks for sharing! I didn't know Mobaxterm - I've been using XMing a lot in the past - it seems to be commercial though - do you see any important limitations in the free version for everyday's use ?
@@OneMarcFifty I've found no limitations at all, it appears that they build it using the cygwin x-server and just package everything up for windows in one isolated blob. On my win desktop, I add an entry to the "Run" part of the registry and auto-start it with the '-hideterm' arg, so it's just there in the background. "c:\Program Files (x86)\Mobatek\MobaXterm\MobaXterm.exe" -hideterm
So changing the sources.list does not purge previous distro right? After installing kali this way (by changing the sources.list ...) how do you purge the previous/old distro?
@@OneMarcFifty You’re welcome! Yea, but the signup process is a bit tedious (actually wasn’t working with my debit card and credit card from Austria). Maybe you have more luck with it. The RUclipsr ideaspot has a few good videos about it.

Great Video! Btw Oracle cloud has a free tier with up to 200 gb of space and good hardware.
Thank you very much! I didn’t know that you would get that much storage in the free tier - need to check it out!

@onemarkfifty is it possible to put openwrt on a Netgear nighthawk xr1000?
No - that's Broadcom Wifi hardware. Broadcom are not known to be very Free-and-Open-Source-Software (FOSS) friendly I am afraid.
@@OneMarcFifty what router do you suggest for openwrt one gig connection??
@@OneMarcFifty is it possible to make a build for the xr1000 of openwrt?
Make a video in secure remote access in cloud please. 15:34
