To be honest, HAL is also fooling India with AMCA. Call me pessimistic but I don't think I'll be seeing it anytime soon. China already has close to 300 5th gen J20s and we don't even have a prototype yet. For comparison, India's Tejas was started in 1983 and was commissioned for service in 2015. Now the Airforce is saying the aircraft is not good enough for combat. Kaveri engine project has also failed on most parameters. All said and done, India's defence aviation needs a complete overhaul and a sense of urgency which it doesn't have.

AMCA is done very late as it was proposed in 2018 I think.
But we need our technology and defence equipment.
I think India will buy some 5th G aircraft from the USA.

Russia is busy in long period war . So it's delayed may be Russia craft it in next 5 to 10 years cause fighter jet is so complex machine.
The major thing is if any country wants to buy sukoi 75 the question will remain that Russia will be able to supply it at the right time
Even Russian air force is not buying the Su-75.
The plane is doomed unless a country like UAE continues its funding of the project.

It is not a bad option if it comes with 100% ToT and Manufacturing in India by a private public partnership.
Tejas program is somewhat into uncertainty since GE is delaying F404 delivery and the ToT for GE 414 is not going to be 100% besides being delayed due to political reasons.
Right time to make a hard negotiations with Russian and get a favorable deal. The Izdlea 30 used in SU75 can power future AMCA. But the key is full ToT and Manufacturing.
Latest tot with written promise for future tot with manufacturing in india and full permission to sail and last but not least Russia will attack china if china dares to attack india.dont laugh this asurence of Russia will help all 3 countries. China will not attack india or Russia (border dispute may turn worst)and3 countries can reduce defence cost

AMCA project should be completed within 2028...
India should never scrap inhouse AMCA as radar, missile and stealth capability we can choose which ever we like. If still needed India can buy F35 or SU57 or SU75 or whichever country plane fits fine. Only being stealth is not important, the radar, missiles and speed also matters nowadays.

Its not always being better or worse. Time is also a issue. We need 5th gen fighter planes quickly. Realistically first amca that can be inducted will be in 2033. We definitely need planes as a stop gap measure.
Why does it matter
Make something that even if China use its 5Gen fighter jets on Indian soil the purpose of preparation of that thing should apply that can easily tackle incase of a war situation 😊

If Russian pressuring us then we need to think how we can pressurize Russian in industries sector. Kyu ki every action has equal and opposite reaction.
In purchasing India cannot be pressurised. India will do whatever in its Interest to do so. Indian goverment needs to take a tough call on cost for its own research and development of Jet engines and AMCA fighter. Parallely India must also buy required number of foreign fighters in the interim period till AMCA and Tejas mk2 are ready for induction. Remember there is a cost...nothing comes free

India should ask development of SU-75 and SU -57 dual seat versionto be brought under Brahmos aerospace corporation so that india would have control over the development program.. And also ask Russia to allow AL-51 Engine production in india. We could replace existing AL-41 engine in SU30 MKI

Indian AF should focus on FastTrack Development of AMCA. Today it seems HAL will take 10 years to develop AMCA which will not beneficial for India considering today's geopolitics and unwanted war's.
