When I was 17 I met a kid online who was living in NJ, I'm in NH. I'm 36 now and I just recently found him on social media after 18 years. We're talking again and he told me to listen to this album...... I have never heard of him before, I must say I haven't gotten out of bed yet. I'm laying here amazed at what I'm listening to!
all i feel is intense surges of electricity and sweat pulsating through my palms and chest, immense love i cant even describe it, it's like i cant even take it all, its sso beautiful, like hearing a lover from childhood after going our separate ways
This is quite a way different than when I saw you in Asbury Park NJ around 2001 and you were playing with desaparecidos..but I love your music more than ever
There's a dancehall there Where the sick folks go Like the olden days on the Barbary Coast There's a barefoot child playing in the rain You can sell your wares even if they're hot In the great bizarre or the parking lot Cause it takes a while to know who to blame I might have a taste cause the first one's free And the checkout girl's got a thing for me And they're both as sweet as the day is long I don't wanna feel stuck, baby I just wanna get drunk before noon I don't mind my head when there's room to dream Feel like Paul Gauguin painting breadfruit trees In some far off place where I don't belong Tried to lose myself in the primitive In Yosemite like John Muir did But his eyes were blue and mine are red and raw 'Cause the modern world is a sight to see It's a stimulant, it's pornography It takes all my will not to turn it off I don't want you to feel sad, baby I take everything back, I swear I do Cause once all the friends I had Have used me up and left I bet you hang around I bet you'll hang around awhile
lyrics There's a dance hall there Where the sick folks go Like the olden days On the Barbary Coast There's a barefoot child Playing in the rain You can sell your wares Even if they're hard In the great bazaar Or the parking lot 'Cause it takes a while To know who to blame I might have a taste 'Cause the first one's free And the checkout girls Got a thing for me And they're both as sweet As the day is the long I don't wanna feel stuck, baby I just wanna get drunk before noon I don't mind my head When there's room to dream Feel like Paul Gauguin Painting breadfruit trees In some far off place Where I don't belong Tried to lose myself In the primitive In Yosemite Like John Muir did But his eyes were blue And mine are red and raw 'Cause the modern world Is a sight to see It's a stimulant It's pornography It takes all my will Not to turn it off I don't want you to feel sad, baby I take everything back, I swear I do 'Cause once all the friends I had Have used me up and left I bet you hang around I bet you'll hang around awhile
He's an alcoholic selling his and his loved ones' possessions for alcohol and desperately hoping that his lover will stay by his side despite everyone else leaving him due to his addiction
I think Coner is real good but when I'm reading things like "he's better than Bob Dylan" it makes me wonder who's writing this stuff. He will never be in Bob Dylan's league nor will anyone else. I do dig this song though.
Ed McKendry imo the comparing is because often it feels like conor can carry/transport the common feeling of many from our generation- like dylan did but as you said on a completely different level...🤗 kind regards
in conclusion, this is one of the greatest songs ever written
It's such a privilege to be accompanied through life by Conor's music.
Truly is

You're not even kidding. Late nights are okay anymore.
Couldn't agree more.

One of the greatest living storytellers
One of my favourites of this album. The lyrics are heartbreaking but still welcoming somehow.
what do you think is the meaning of this song? :)
Give him the Nobel prize.
J. Lang lol
Understanding.
Every year or so I'm like "Hmm, wonder what Connor is up too" Then I get stuck on his new stuff for hours... The dude is a lyrical Energizer bunny.

best album he's put out since 05', in my humble opinion.
Pure gold right here.

best song on the album
My hero
Nothing more epic than a Conor fan rocking a Rimbaud portrait.
Hes a true star
Just heard it on BBC Radio1, omg bliss
The line: cos the modern world is a sight to see, it's a stimulant, it's pornography, it takes all my will not to turn it off...
this album is great

deep stuff man
Conor's Nebraska
There's a dancehall there
Where the sick folks go
Like the olden days on the Barbary Coast
There's a barefoot child playing in the rain
You can sell your wares even if they're hot
In the great bizarre or the parking lot
Cause it takes a while to know who to blame
I might have a taste cause the first one's free
And the checkout girl's got a thing for me
And they're both as sweet as the day is long
I don't wanna feel stuck, baby
I just wanna get drunk before noon
I don't mind my head when there's room to dream
Feel like Paul Gauguin painting breadfruit trees
In some far off place where I don't belong
Tried to lose myself in the primitive
In Yosemite like John Muir did
But his eyes were blue and mine are red and raw
'Cause the modern world is a sight to see
It's a stimulant, it's pornography
It takes all my will not to turn it off
I don't want you to feel sad, baby
I take everything back, I swear I do
Cause once all the friends I had
Have used me up and left
I bet you hang around
I bet you'll hang around awhile
The genius is now married...god bless
favorite song on the new album!

He's an alcoholic selling his and his loved ones' possessions for alcohol and desperately hoping that his lover will stay by his side despite everyone else leaving him due to his addiction
DANNY MULLEN THE SUREME LEADER

I wish Conor wasn’t such a political shill he’s so much better then that
