Coverdale's voice is still amazing, and Tommy is still one of the best rock drummers working.
I can only assume you haven’t seen Whitesnake live for a while, I saw them two years ago and, believe me, Coverdale’s voice is amazingly bad. The whole gig was a giant karaoke with the audience doing most of the singing because Coverdale was utterly dreadful. He should have retired years ago and not allowed people to witness such a sad demise.

Tommy Aldridge is a freakin' legend. He's worked with just about everyone that's anyone, and I reckon he's played drums since they were invented, and has specially constructed hardware made from unobtanium, he means it when he HITS those things!

I remember hearing this back in the 70's I didn't know much about popular music so to speak. This blew me away. Whitesnake I then discovered with the Trouble album. Been a fan ever since then. This was always a favorite song and love this version

Hey Pete - I was referring to the intro vocals on the song I Feel Free off the Fresh Cream album. Very similar to opening vocals on this track . And I hear the Steve Vai tone to this song
Guys are still killing it. Now that Tommy Aldridge is 150yrs-old, that looks he's had for the past 50yrs finally suits him.
Glenn Hughes"s vocal used to add something unique to this song.This rendition is no better than the original.

Me...I don't like the modern Whitesnake. Up to the 1987 album they were a great blues/rock band. Then they turned into a hair/glamrock band with much too loud over driven guitars.

Making Deep Purple sound like they just came out last week. Beautiful.
Superb. This version is as it always should have been. Coverdale's Whitesnake covers (no pun intended) of the old DP material are systematically better than the originals. They lift the material of two weak Purple albums to a new level. And I love Blackmore's playing. Have pretty much all the DP albums/CDs except some of the newer stuff on which the material is too Gillan dominated. They sound like his solo albums, which I also have, but it's not Purple without that gypsy feeling. But these Whitesnake covers deliver. Thank you for the post.
Wow, if you call Burn a weak album you have no idea what you're talking about, none at all.
@@CB-xr1eg Your opinion is your own, as mine is mine. Yes, as a Deep Purple album, Burn is not in my top favorites. As to what a person "knows" when they express an opinion, another can dispute it if they choose, and has every right to, but insulting the other's opinion only dissipates the opposition statement into nothingness. In short, Burn is no Machine Head, but as I said I feel it does have a couple good tracks on it. I was never overly satisfied with the switch from Gillan and Glover to Coverdale and Hughes, and frankly, never will be. But my biggest problem with it is that the music -- the tunes themselves -- are not creative enough. Nice hard blues, but not the creative rock that say, Perfect Strangers, is. It was a different tangent of music for Deep Purple, and only one step away from Stormbringer, which Blackmore even said was a poor album. I believe he said it sucked. Well, for me, that's a little harsh, as it, like Burn, has a couple good tracks on it, but both those LPs are not among my favorite DP ones. Both Hughes and Coverdale are doing excellent enjoyable covers of DP material these days, so it's not like I don't like their talent and music. I absolutely enjoy these versions, and I do find them better than the originals. Two of the DP albums that I think regularly get shortchanged and overlooked, however, are "House of Blue Light" and "Slaves and Masters." I find both excellent, although in honesty I do wish Blue Light had been produced with just a tad less treble, as it sounds a little tinny to me, but again, that's just my opinion. There's an old saying: "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one." That is not said to be offensive. It is said to simply say I am glad you enjoy Burn and respect your opinion.
