And we're back. Don't worry, I wasn't kidnapped/arrested/deported/etc, but I have been a little ill the past week, so I needed a few days to rest. I'll hopefully be back to filming soon, but don't be alarmed if I disappear for a few days again. Until then, enjoy this journey into the middle of nowhere in Kenya.
I'll be fine. Everybody knows me, okay? Even the police knows me.

Your Swahili is really good for 5 months. I noticed that you translate a lot in your head from English into Swahili. I think you should learn to use fewer words. You should also learn to play around with prefixes and suffixes to give your language more meaning. Also, if you are on the coast go to a town called Shimba Hills, it's by the Shimba Hills Secondary school. There is a very nice waterfall there. You can also see the ocean from the hills. It is on the edge of the National Park. Spend the night there and walk around to a few more towns. Also, there is a very interesting place called Sagala a little more inland. I miss the coast very much. Make sure you eat Mbazi (beans & coconut = Swahili breakfast). In Shimba Hills, you can relax, drink Mnazi & no one will bother you.

22:10 In Kenya, "hotel" is a restaurant. I know it's confusing but back in the day, food joints were always attached to an actual hotel with rooms. When stand alone restaurants started becoming a thing in the 80s and 90s, we did not really distinguish them from actual hotels. It stuck.

We often refer to bars in Canada as hotels too. I never really give it much thought until you mentioned it. Mind you, it’s a term that’s referred to a lot less frequently with each and every generation but it was pretty common for us Gen Xer’s to hear our family members talk about going to the hotel for a few drinks all the time.

That’s how u know that hate and prejudice are taught. Being a blank woman and knowing all too well of how black children in America are not given that same pass to be kids it’s good to see someone like this guy just be human and treat everyone else as such. As a Chinese I am also a bit shocked over African mixed feedback on Chinese infrastructure projects. You always believe you are doing good things with them, but it sometimes is not considered that way. I don’t agree with some of the opinions and Generally speaking, I believe we shall continue to do this. But it is a 100% MUST that we need to respect Africans as we do business, as their intelligence and kindness are by any means, not lower than westerners or asians (if not higher)

Tommy- thanks for setting up this great channel. First off, love that you pay homage to B and B. Second, I went to Africa 20 years back and went to some of the places you have been. Its so fun to live that again through your videos. Its also funny to see how so little had changed about the cameras and the look of things. Stay safe brother, and keep the videos coming!!

If you are looking for a place to sleep, ask for a lodging instead of a hotel. Lodging is used for places you can sleep while hotel is used for places to eat.

You have just passed outside my village where I have my farm. The guy says he speaks ki Mijikenda. Mijikenda means nine villages, speaking nine languages that are very similar to one another, most probably he is a Duruma out of his local name.
