I couldn't have said it better. There were (and are) many great vocalists in rock, but Steve Perry stands above them ALL. I always thought he is Native American. Imagine my surprise when I learned he has a Portuguese ethnicity (European)...even though he is Californian. Cool dude!
Great reaction! Glad y'all liked it. I kinda thought you'd like the old school juke box. Believe it or not, it was AWESOME to have a trio combo stereo with vinyl on top, with 2 cassette players and radio. We could record vinyl and radio onto cassettes!!! This is one of my fav Journey songs along with "Lights" and "Don't Stop Believing". Although, "Lights" I was only 6 when it came out, so don't remember it, but "Any Way You Want It" was always playing at the skating rink during my skating years from 80-82.
To me it seemed like Journey got lumped in with the pop music of the time, but, they were different because of Neal Schon’s guitar playing. Great songs, amazing singer and monster guitar.
❤❤ Steve Perry's voice ❤❤ Neal Schon the lead guitarist started playing with Santana at 15 years old. This is one of the few bands that sounds better live. Check out Wheel in the Sky live in Osaka Steve playing around with that beautiful voice of his alongside Neal's guitar ❤❤❤❤
Not many better bands than Journey and "the voice", Steve Perry. Great song! So many hits to check out and revisit. There was something about listening to music on vinyl that seemed better. The youth may not agree but there is an innocence to vinyl and the needle scratching.
if you two like synthy pop check out AHA “take on me “and “ hunting high and low”. you ll love it😊 for some blue eyed soul Simply Red.” holding back the years” why not listen to Simply Red live at sinfonia in rosso some years ago. Mick Hucknall still sounds like the studio recording to this day when he sings live. there were some gems in amongst the silky synthypop tunes of the 80s😂
If you listen to Journey, only do it while Steve Perry was in the band. Check out his solo work too. Great musician and producer. He's still involved with making music and helping others.
hi , i m throwing this in here: you should react to the man who started it all: rock n roll, youthculture, fashion, style, superstars. the King! before him there was nothing….Reacht to Elvis Presley. any live performance will do. if you want to see when rock n roll started and changed society watch Elvis sing Hounddog on the Milton Berle show( NOT Ed Sullivan, E was already cencored there) for stage performance watch: suspiscious minds or polk salad anni. I also love “ never been to Spain” and “ you ve lost that loving feeling” As John Lennon of the Beatles said: before Elvis there was nothing
Steve Perry is one of the greatest voices in rock music. He has been known as the Voice.

I saw Journey 5 times in the 80s. Always spectacular. Very few voices like Steven Perry.

Johnathan Cain used to be with Journey & was with the band called The Babys (babies) with lead singer John Waite.
Journey ❤My 80s High School Jam Class Of 1985 Whoop Whoop
Also react to Steve Perry - I Stand Alone 1998 (music video from movie Quest for Camelot)
I love this song, first time I heard it was the end credits/bloopers at the end of Charlie's Angels 2 Full Throttle.
