Americans will watch 3 episodes of Vikings, score 1% scandinavian on a free dna test and suddenly they think they're actual vikings lmao
LMAO
Anyone who thinks theyre a viking is stupid. Vikings dont exist anymore, the closet you can get is joining the military. But its not wrong to admire them and carry on pagan culture.
There are alot of Scandinavians in America... At least in certain parts of the country. I say good on them for honoring their ancestors! At least they have a culture, history and know who they are in a day / age where most people can't even figure out what bathroom to use.

you have to come from the north to be a viking
@@adegaming5322 or be a descendant of Vikings. Which most of them (and I) are.
Yes and?
Or in other have a bloodline
As someone with actual Danish and Norwegian ancestry and can trace it back in my family line, this hurts. Because pop culture has taken over so much that our actual stories are being lost. You want real Scandinavian history look up Thorfinn Karlsefni the first European to make a settlement in north america. Or any of the other explorers from Scandinavian history and the trade routes they started. We were more than just pirates, we were sailors, merchants, farmers, artists, historians, and most importantly we were humans.
It would be real refreshing to see some historically accurate Viking clothes and armour/weapons.
Like at this point I’d be genuinely impressed if they Atleast wore a shirt

No man. Vikings were naked and sexy. Always. 🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉
@@Realcbtenjoyer fur is just a plus
As someone who is Nordic, I can say with my full chest, THESE ARE SO INCORRECT (like I’m pretty sure we didn’t wear such complicated clothes, we didn’t have a lot of resources)
What I learned today: Vikings...
loved to paint their faces with fingers and make up tools
never smiled
had bodies covered with tatoos an piercings
women wore sexy, black, shrinked leather armors
carried proudly latex hammer and jump with it happily in the snow
were all professional karaoke singers (for only one song)
were real american patriots and carried already the stars and stripes
were in fact singing dwarfs
were always topless without getting cold
loved to film themselves, by staring in a bizzar way in the camera without doing anything
bought topless ice cream at coop and politely wait in line
invented dreadlocks
like to sing in pop songs that they are dangerous, while proudly holding their latex shield and weapon
are in fact cops

@@DragonxFlutter true lol
Many men and women today call themselves Vikings because they are reenactors, put on a show fight, dress in Viking clothes, or simply take part of a Viking market or festival. These are worthy activities that create awareness regarding the Norse people of the Viking Age, but they are not representative of what it was like to be a Viking.
A Viking was self-reliant, had a particular set of values, and had a heightened sense of spirituality that few modern people can understand, let alone live by. Only by living like a Viking can a person understand how it was to be a ‘Viking’. If a person can’t hunt, fish, farm, build or repair a house, ship or equipment, or have competence in glima, they aren’t anything like a Viking.
I agree with ya on this

Misty Mountains was appreciated though, love that song!
Agree
As much as I do like the sound of that version of of the "my mother told me/This said my mother" poem and not because of AC:Val (didn't even know it was in it originally) the lyrics are a bit stupid as it first mentions buying galleys (a ship used by the people around the Mediterranean not the Norse) and then talks about steering a barque (a multi masted ship used from the 18th century and on, a good 700 years after the "Viking Age" had ended.)
But words are based on 9nth century norse poem.

Don't take so seriously, as a Norwegian, I kind enjoy it, although bizarre as it is.
An American trying to be a Viking is the funniest shit ive seen
People who have the runes probably don't even know what they mean
Kek, especially the Odal rune
No cause almost all of those people are Norse pagan, and also to even put those runes on stuff you would have to study them to learn what they mean. And not everyone who get chinese or japanese tattoos dont know what they mean, especially the Japanese tattoos since the Japanese language is becoming more and more popular so more and more people are learning the language, which yes includes learning to write in Japanese because if you want to learn correctly you also need to learn to write it.

Sorry to tell you but vikings didn't look like something specific. Viking was a job. Not a person.
@@WOLVESOFWARGAMING and none of these people look like what Vikings would have looked like based on every description, archaeological find and illustration that countless historians have toiled for years to find. None of them look remotely like any of that.
@@jasperluke12 because a viking didn't look like one thing. That's like finding someone groceries shopping and telling them hey you don't look like a mechanic. Like no shit they are currently not at work. Just like these people are currently not raiding. But if you are talking about actual people then the majority were called Danes. But that also brings up the thing that you can be any ethnicity and join the clan. Hence how norwegians now a days can be seen with red hair. Back then it was uncommon to see a dane with red hair. Why because it was a foreign thing that ended up being captured enslaved then married. Any one of any ethnicity could have become part of the clan.
@@WOLVESOFWARGAMING I’m talking about clothing and armor
@@jasperluke12 and clothing and armor was up to the individual to supply. So it could be almost anything. It can be fun chainmail to leather to a axe made for killing to a wood cutting axe. They didn't have an outfit or uniform. They were basically mercenaries. The one to own the boat for most of the percentage. Then the rest was decided up between the rest that survived. Don't get me wrong I am not saying they look like vikings. But I am also not saying they don't. That is something you can't reliably say sense there was no uniform that they followed. Yes I agree they didn't show up to battle half naked. The reason I think they are not vikings is not because of there attire but because they don't raid.
2:08 now this is impressive. The best one.

I threw up in my mouth a little. So much cringe.
This reminds me of a funny story. A bit of background, it has been proven through multiple dna tests on various members of my family that we are very likely descended from Vikings and my dad is quite proud of this fact. My mom had a dream that my dad was joining some group to live like the Vikings did all those years ago. Unfortunately, he was also going to divorce my mom and marry a 20 something year old shield maiden. My mom tried to discourage this by asking my dad, “But what about the kids?!” To which he replied, “Well our daughter (me) could become a shield maiden as well and I’ll make sure she gets a wonderful husband.” After that statement, my mom woke up and almost smacked my poor sleeping dad in the face. Thankfully she quickly realized it was a dream and went back to sleep. She told all about it in the morning. Honestly it’s nice to know that my dad really does care about my happiness, even if it was just a dream my mom had. I know he loves me, but he doesn’t smother me thankfully. But sometimes that makes me forget just how protective he can be of me when it comes to love life. Mom’s dream also made me realize that my dad would totally challenge a guy to sword fight if the guy expressed even the tiniest bit of romantic interest in me.
