SO MARVELLOUS!!! My favourite Prelude Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod, thank you for this wonderful soulful performance, congratulations for many views of the video, I love this masterpiece mainly in rendition of famous well-known Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, it's
worth to hear. As every day my greetings from Poland, have a nice day as well.
Thank you so much Joanna! :) And yeah a magnificent piece :))
I agree! Absolutely beautiful.
I had Ave Maria (Gounod) played/sung at my wedding in the sixties!. I shall request it for my requiem!
Along with Bach's Prelude 1 in C Major,
Preferably played by .my musical daughter.
I hope to have learnt to play it myself within
A reasonable time.
In the meantime I will continue to listen to this beautiful performance.
Thank you.
By the way, I share the same birthday as Bach : March 21

Very pretty. A technique question, in your left hand you play the upper note with your thumb and then place the index finger on top of the key as well. What does this do for you?
Rob McLear Thanks Rob! :) I do this with no special purpose :D The finger goes there without thinking about it haha :Dd

Was it true that Chopin based his wickedly difficult Etude op 10 °1 on this Bach piece?....
A little note is missing, but very good !!!
No there wasn’t
I also noticed there was one measure missing.
Not a Single "note" or "measure" is missing from this performance. Stan is playing, note-for-note, Mister Bach's original composition, which I have been playing from memory for about seventy years. You and the other commenter are probably confusing Bach's original work, performed here, for Charles Gounod's arrangement, which he adapted from Bach's original score, with an additional, original measure, as accompaniment for his "Ave Maria", which he composed in 1853, 103 years after Johann had left this world. And I also have been playing Gunoud's version for all these years. They are both beautiful works.
Why do you play e flat instead of d on 23?
Like candy Crush
yeaaah idk
tatatatatatatatatatatatatata too fast man....
Well... since Mister Bach made No notations or the oldest copies of his original handwritten score regarding tempo, variations in tempo, crescendo or diminuendo, that would be strictly Your personal opinion, and Not a statement of fact. 🙄
I have been playing this beautiful Prelude in C-major for nearly seventy years and, although I play it at a slower tempo, and with some variations in tempo and crescendo, Stan's version here is beautiful, and is an excellent tutorial. And I believe that, were you to ask Johann, he would agree. 😊
