Dare was formed in 1985 by Darren Wharton after Thin Lizzy had broken up. 2009 saw the release of Dare's sixth studio album 'Arc Of The Dawn' and from which "Emerald" is taken.
This version is so bloody damn great that I get goosebump. This version is on my setlist as a troubadoure I can tell you. So Great! I'm also a singer, guitarist and a songwriter in a Heavy Metal band called Nordic Mist. Maybe they don't pay attention to live shows; I have seen him several times and they go down a little bit when listening to disk, but as soon as I can: I've been looping their songs for years.

If I didn't already know and love the Lizzy version so much I'd probably have a better opinion of this but can't shake the original out my head.
Understandable, I am sure Darren had a heavy heart, towards his former bandmate when Dare covered this.
