    Hi there.. to protect the bristles of the brushes, you could use a small bamboo wrap. (the kind they sell for rolling sushi. They conveniently wrap around the brushes well, and still allows airflow, so the damp brushes will not get moldy while you travel.) You can conveniently tie the wrap with a rubberband or hair tie.

    I always just use a credit card to cut my blocks! It works perfectly!

    A Mr. Clean magic eraser cleans watercolor paint stains off of a plastic palette. Just cut a chunk off of one and dampen it and your palette will look clean and new again. A dampened Mr. Clean Magic eraser also lifts paint off of watercolor paper if you want to add a moon to a night sky or whatever. I got the tip from Deb Watson's web site.

    I know this is an old video, but fyi for anyone else using this winsor newton kit - The space where the little brush goes can be used, instead, to fit six more pans of W/N watercolors. (Other brand pans are too large for the space.) You can fix them in with blu-tack or some other removable putty and change them as you need to.

    I love that idea for creating your own block! I've seen a number of methods in the past, but this is one of the easiest, and makes the most sense to me as a watercolorist. Thank you so much for sharing!

    if you paint on a smaller scale like i do, and you really want to bring a couple water dishes with you, silicone muffin cups are flexible and don't take up much space when you squish them down to fit into your kit!

    I have to thank you! I have a new palette I haven't filled because I wanted to spray the mixing area with white enamel spray paint, and my husband was going to Walmart after work! So, thank you!!! Dollar tree has ceramic plates that when stacked don't nest flush so it won't disturb the paint underneath. I also bought a pad of throw away palette paper, I cut several small sheets and store in my tiny kit.

    You Windsor Newton box has a secret mixing space under the water holder, it slides out, I just discovered it myself. FYI 😀

      +Liezzah Oh that's funny! I was actually already aware of the secret mixing space, but I don't like to mix on plastic so I don't usually slide it out. Thanks so much for sharing the tip though! :) Hope you have a lovely day! Best, Meredith

    You should keep the brushes in a tooth brush box , so the brissels won't get damaged

    You have some very nice videos.. Thanks so much! Hope you get some more up since I have watched almost every one already! As for your brushes... toothbrush holders works nicely to hold 2 or 3 brushes without allowing the bristles to be harmed. If your brushes are longer than the holder.. you can also use a piece of PVC Pipe with a cap to hold longer (Or more) brushes safely (A Pringle's can also works nicely.. but won't last as long as the PVC) :)

      +BushcraftOnFire You're so welcome! I try to make about two videos a month, so that I can be sure to maintain the best quality, but I've got lots of new ones in the works for you guys! And that's such a great brush tip, I'll be sure to keep it in mind. Thanks so much for watching, I'm so glad you're here! :) Best, Meredith

    With the maskin tape you should pass it on your pants first so it is not with all the glue and dont "brake" the paper (sry for the bad english)

    oh I love the Blue Heron painting, just gorgeous. I am a beginner, I need to work from a reference, I just do things out of my brain, often with questionable results, but last night I did a mixed media, very simplistic, but I stayed in my color palette properly! I LOVE it! Its hard for me, b ut I am learning ;-)

      +Andrea Motta Thanks so much! The vacation was lovely and I'm so glad I got a chance to paint while I was away (it would have been a shame to let that kit go to waste!) The pink flower painting was definitely a learning experience! I'm glad it piqued your interest! :)

    I like this idea, but the critical learning for me is that i need pink masking tape! 🤪 Also, i have watched three videos and learned more from you than several other artists i follow. They are awesome, too, not dissing them, but i think that means you are very good at teaching. Thank you! The WN travel is my everyday set. I like WN probably the best.

    I really really enjoy watching your videos.i love the fact that you show us the materials on the side that you are using and how to explain everything so clearly. Thank you very much for all the videos keep making more. Also what paint would you recommend for a beginer

      +Dalila vasquez Hi there. Oh thank you! I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos! I would recommend this set for beginners: www.dickblick.com/items/00325-1029/ It has 12 introductory colors plus a brush and is less expensive than artist grade paints. But since it is still made by Winsor & Newton, the paints remain very good. If you are ever looking to upgrade though, the artist grade paint brands that I like are Winsor & Newton Professional, Daniel Smith, Qor, and M. Graham. Hope that helps and thank you so much again for tuning in!! :) Best, Meredith

    I'm in Australia that white board you have I think it is foam core board, and for anyone else in Australia found it at K mart in the kids art and stationery, where the large coloured cardboard is located. very informative video, tfs.

    • @fairythere
      @fairythere 7 лет назад

      Tiffany Hiller Foam board would not like any water that spilled on it, and it would with very little pressure bend and no longer be flat enough to use this way. What she is using is a cardboard substitute made of thin but strong plastic sheets that have thin strips of the same sheeting placed at intervals between 2 sheets to make hollow channels inside the "board". I use this same material in my sewing room to make bolts of fabric. I got mine for free from a place that sells plexiglass and Lexan sheets. It was waste from a large special order.

    I just saw someone roll the tip of their brush on a bar of soap to bring the bristles back to a point. Works wonder on older brushes to bring that point back.

    Cool tutorials! I'm diving in and am going to immerse myself in learning more about watercolor. I'd probably be taking too much stuff so this helps. BTW your pan set has 14 colors. ☺I LOVE the cobalt teal blue and quinacridone red!

      Plus, I've got OCD. I don't like to mix on plastic either! Where'd you get your cute ceramic ones? Thanks.🌹

      @TheWittyGrittyPaperCo  8 лет назад

      +GodzHarleyGirl Studio Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words and for reaching out! As for ceramic mixing palettes, I really like to use square dinner plates for mixing as well as the little seven-well flower palettes I showed. :) The plates can be found easily and cheaply at thrift stores (or from your own kitchen, if you have one to spare) and the flower ones can be found in some fine art supply stores or online like here: www.amazon.com/Porcelain-Well-Floral-Palette-Dish/dp/B000KNPNA4 Hope that helps and thank you so much for watching! :) Best, Meredith
