Thanks. Years ago I worked in jewelery and tried soldering a lifetime ago really. I got a butane soldering tool and proceeded to buy supplies. Was making a second attempt to learning to solder so I got silver solder, copper solder and solder tape. Had no idea what the tape was for or how to use. Thanks for your video I had no idea what to with copper sticky tape until your most excellent video. Again thanks!
You're funny :) ... I was looking for a tutorial on how to copper foil wrap the edges of a glass on glass mosaic, but couldn't find anything that even remotely applied to my intention/goal. This was the most helpful video I've found so far, even though it is on a much smaller scale. Thanks!
Great video. I'm trying to make a frame using your tutorial. Could you please explain how to add a hook to the finished product so it can be hung? Thank you.
I was looking up copper tape and found your video. And even though its not what i was looking for i had to comment. You made a great video, your voice sounds pretty good and no you dont talk too much. Thats my opinion but opinions will vary and because they do try to remeber, you cant please everyone all the time. Numpties will make numpty type comments, but ignore them you did a good job of the video :)
Hi! thanks for sharing this! I would like to know if is possible to leave ir like that just with the tape for a double glass frame of 8x10" or do you think it would open??
Great video. Have you ever had your tape kind of come up while soldering? I burnish like you did and sometimes the tape comes up and I have to push back down. Wondering if maybe my solder is too hot...
hey Mimi~ Well Done! but after 15k+ views, it's hard to believe that not one person has asked you about your beautiful M featured on one side of this piece! Will you share what font that is, or where you found such an archival looking letter, please? Enjoying your videos, please keep them coming.
It may be the iron getting too hot. I vaguely remember this happening, before I got a soldering station, which allows the temperature to be adjusted. I will put a link in the description, to the exact station I purchased on Amazon. Weirdly enough, after saying I never have had an image ruined by flux seeping under the glass; this pendant actually got a little discolored on one corner! I'm not sure if it was due to heat, or I was talking so much during filming that I didn't burnish well enough!
Hi! there! very intéresting tutorial, TK...I have a ??? I bouhgt some glass Microscope Slides ..it's seem to me very thin. Do you put some together or just 2? sorry for my english, I'm not very good. :o)
Oh, that's right! I'm pretty sure Martha Stewart invented book binding too. In fact, I believe she might have even invented the written word, as well. She's just that good. :-)
HeyMimi DIY ... hehe... as soon as you said bone folder I thought the same thing... 😂 love it!! Subscribing because of that alone!!! Btw thank you for the work you’ve put into these videos
Nice tutorial, Thank-you. I do understand the comment about some visuals being out of the frame. I think for a newbie like myself it was noticeable because I have no idea of what I am doing. One thing I am trying to find out is, where do you get the glass for the pendants? I haven't seen any in my wanderings in craft stores. I am reallllly hoping I don't have to cut the pieces myself, because that would not be pretty!! :) Thanks again
Lynne Donahue Craft stores used to (and may still) carry the pre-cut glass in 1"x1" , 1"x3" and 1.5 x 1.5" squares. I think they were made by Ranger and by Simply Soldered. But I like getting my glass Microscope Slides from either Scientific Supply online stores (check out www.SciPlus.com it's so much fun!) , or Teacher Supply Stores because the glass is thinner and waaay cheaper: 75 - 100 slides for $7 or 8 bucks, you really can't beat the price. And it won't bother you so much, if you mess up a bunch of glass, while learning to cut it down. Hope that helps! I've been meaning to do an updated video about supplies and tools for this topic. I've been neglecting my soldered glass jewelry for too long!
Auberjene Whitney Gosh, really? :-( I thought this was one of my better videos, because I was able to really zoom in and give a close up view. Sorry you didn't think so.
HeyMimi DIY Hi :) Please don't worry - I just watched this and NOTHING was out of shot. It was all centred and clear. Thank you for the video and for being generous with the tutorial.
10 years on and This is all still extremely helpful. Especially how you handle the corners. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Hi, can you please record a video on how you would make this ornament hang? How can I add hangers?
My foil sometimes lifts and allows moisture to get between my glass. I do clean with alcohol and burnish. Any suggestions
This is a very good video, no let me change that AWESOME is a better word.
Thank you so much for the nice comment!
Thanks for this great video! I'm going to be making laser engraved window clings and wanted to know how the foil tape was used!
I like the look of just the tape. Anyone know if foil will stay on without soldering it?
Yes I think you did a great job on this tutorial, just be yourself, act like you're teaching a friend !!!☀

Thank you! It seems so basic but I really had trouble wrapping my pendants.
Thank you for the video, it was just what I was looking for :)

Do you have to put the solder on, can you just leave the copper foil?

Thank-you sooo much. I didn't realize the glass was Microscope Slides!! I am pumped to get started!
Are you using regular glass?
this is an amazing tutorial!!!!
y como haces para colgarlo, que pones
The Bone folder is used in book binding :)
They have vintage ones that are made of wood the barnishing
thank you!
Nice.
remember where the camera is. very informative.
Great
Like your video
Frustrating that many important visuals are out of frame of the camera. Work needs to be centered to follow what you are saying.

I just watched this video which was great except you & piece of art was out of frame.
Your fingers were in the way and your video went off the page
Wouldn’t be nice if you stayed in frame so we could see what you are doing? Stop wiggling it around.
Great
