You guys are fucking goated for all the content you have made and made available for free. Salomon freeski TV is/was fucking sick. The episode where they ski the volcano was so dope.
Honestly Cody I mean this because you’re awesome… I don’t care what you call it,just post cool videos in a somewhat timely fashion and most of us will be happy and will support you!
This has been the best ski content to follow along with and to be a part of. Super stoked for you and this new chapter of the Fifty Project and of course, to see what you put our gear through out there!
Elyse nailed it: the line has a story or local lore that elevates it above all the other potentially amazing stuff in the area. Hope to see more like that in the future!
I remember the first video I watched with Cody on Salomon TV when they went to Chile in Summer to try the Shogun with Abma and the French crew. It was in 2009 or 2010. 15 years later and you're still here, more relevant than ever. Keep up the great work!
It’s not a classic, it’s totally a classic. Great to see new content, and great to see Elyse out on a winter overnighter. And good to see smart choices on the bail-out the first attempt. A good example to follow.
So glad to see you back at it! I got hooked on your channel when I watched you ski the Northwest Couloir on Mt Shuksan which happens to be in my backyard. I spent many of days skiing pretty much every skiable part of Mt. Baker, even trudging up Salmon Arm to ski into Razor Hone Canyon. But, as Warren Miller said, "That was back in the day when my face was tight and my pants were baggy, Now my pants are tight and my face is baggy." Looking forward to more of your quests I can live vicariously through! Cheers.
"The only person I know who wears mittens in California skiing" Meet #2, I'm a Tahoe local and it's all mittens all the time. I'll rock mittens in june if the snow lasts that long, haha! Awesome vid!
I was surprised she hadn't done a backcountry overnight, especially being from that area, but cool she handled it no problem and hope this means more of these trips together for you guys. I'm going to show my partner this episode to help motivate her to do a snow camp trip with me, since she's shied away from it for similar reasons. Anyway definitely enjoy the married couple dynamic as a part of the Fifty adventure stories and looking forward to more..
Right on! I really dig the classic 90’s-esque, NatGeo documentary style introduction. Psyched that the mountain community will continue to have content of authentic ski footage to consume. It keeps the fire stoked!
Love how she raises that high-approachability = higher-classic value. Not "easy." Just, if you have to fly, trek and risk death.... not so classic. Strongly agree and great to see you two on this new adventure!!
Agreed, I actually question some of the lines from the book for that reason. Is it really a classic ski descent if it takes a multi day approach, a lot of resources and money, and luck to be able to ski it? It might be an awesome accomplishment, but I don’t know if that’s a classic then.
Super excited for this new series. The last season of the fifty we sorta knew before it came out we were probably only going to see a few lines skied, which sucked because this is the best series on YT and to wait a whole year for a few lines wasnt great. The first season of the fifty is nostalgic watching it back now. But now the possibility for content are endless, this first season of the fifty+ will one day be nostalgic i bet. Cheers!
Great debut for the new series. To me, this had all the great elements of the original 50. And the ski conditions appeared to be pretty good as well. By the way, I still watch The Giant Steps episode religiously!
So glad you have continued this chronicle of epic lines. It will be good to have Bjarne back, for plot continuity. However, a big shout out to Dmitry: I thought he filmed this beautifully. When will you do a Cham episode with Glen Plake, Seth Morrison, and Seb Montaz……or with the De LaRue brothers? What about lines in the Dolomites….
Always happy to see the Roller Cod-ster back on my screen. I'm impressed that Dmitry did that on a split! Pretty cool, very hard! ( I am a shit splitboarder and any slight decline stresses me out) Kinda miss the old intro theme.
So stoked you’re back! I hooked up with Reine for thé FWT No Fall Zone podcast today! You totally need to get the Here Hold My Kid Crew together again on one of your new shows! Keep rocking, Cody! Love your work!
I did tons of backcountry and glacier skiing in that area for over a decade back in the 1990s. Never saw that line or heard anyone talk about it. Awesome video love it !!
Finally some Type I fun! So glad you found a way to keep the project alive. Here's hoping you get the Mrs. to join you on more adventures; as the top comment states, you two are "couple goals"!
Outstanding piece. As The Fifty developed I feel it became less goal-oriented and defined more by the pure appreciation of experience, come what may. This seems to be the starting point of the Fifty Plus, and I think it's going to resonate widely. Thanks for continuing to nourish our outdoor aspirations!
Love this new series, really speaks to the mountain allowing you to ski what it will rather than forcing your (or a books…) ambitions on the mountain. I’m curious to see how the word ‘classic’ starts to sit with you over time Cody and what it means to you. Thank you and your sponsors for all of these amazing videos. It encouraged me to look at smith helmets and end up buying the summit - so keep sponsoring this guy!
Awesome job mate! Only thing that would make this better is of the heights and distances could be in metric as well! You dont need to read them out in metric, but even if it was just in tiny writting somewhere it would be awesome for us non americans. Good job Cody!!
ITS a CLASSic because it was acheived by 2 of my favourite Ski people on the planet!!! I am loving that your in Alaska home of your Wife's hometown Charm.....and I might add....Timmie Johnson of Truckhouse LIFE, would be nice to see you take Timmie and Andrew MUSE on one of your Fifty plus expeditions.....LOVE those guys!! Warmest of regards, 1000 islands Canada!!! ....ps HOW soon do we get to see (YUPP) your son on skis!! (IT wont be long) and I like all of your community will be cheering him ON!! Thank you for making my day!!!
Especially when it's such a whiteout you can't see the rollover in front of you, the terrain below you and how loaded the slope is. Those extra 5 minutes can be the difference sometimes. Glad you approve.
Hell yeah Cody! Good to see you out there doing the stuff you love. You might remember me from working at Sanderlings together and some other stuff, I'm Bo :P
Thanks for taking us on all your adventures, really cool bro. Snow missed the North Island in New Zealand this season so at least i can live vicariously through you. Mind you it helps to build sick MTB trail to keep ones mind off the snow.
nice timing, I think the skis are finally coming out this week for many of us in BC (or at least those willing to swim with sharks), here's to a great season!
Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.. Just kidding, glad you're back! Looking forward to more episodes and the return of that crazy swede!
Here we go! So stoked to see this coming to life and the chance to check out a few more of these questionable classics along the way. How about some multi season/multi sport adventures at some point? I've got a bikepacking mission with your name on it when the time is right. Let's ride amigo!
Cody, love your videos man, watched probably every one. Amazing. Your risk calculations seem to always be on point, but here I’d disagree. You’re a father now, like me. If there was every a non-zero chance I could be killed in the backcountry along with my wife, leaving my child alone, I’d never ski that area/line. Food for thought dude. Much respect.
There is a non-zero chance of getting killed in everything we do. To take that philosophy into the mountains is impossible. Hell, I almost had a friend killed riding a cruiser bike from the post office back home nearly at the base of this line. I appreciate your concern, but trust me when I say that same thought of leaving our child parentless motivates a lot of our decision making.
Couple goals!!
haha... competition is watching 😉
Absolutely dude
We're so back
SO BACK
WE ARE BACCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Hope to see Bjarne back for some more adventures. You guys are a dynamic duo and bring some of the best backcountry adventure short docs!
Oh yeah, he'll be back.
I'll be back!
Great! 👏
@@BjarneSalen1 can you please say this in a future video? Perhaps in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice? Asking for a friend...
@@danjon1972 haha priceless:)
Excited to be part of this new chapter of the Fifty Project!
You guys are fucking goated for all the content you have made and made available for free. Salomon freeski TV is/was fucking sick. The episode where they ski the volcano was so dope.

Thanks for having my 'back'.
Elyse nailed it: the line has a story or local lore that elevates it above all the other potentially amazing stuff in the area. Hope to see more like that in the future!
As a G-Wood local, she was the best judge of the status for sure
Snow and suffering. Two of our favorite things.
Ditto.
hes dragged the wife into a sufferfest!!! best ski series on the net.
I remember the first video I watched with Cody on Salomon TV when they went to Chile in Summer to try the Shogun with Abma and the French crew. It was in 2009 or 2010. 15 years later and you're still here, more relevant than ever. Keep up the great work!
Great to see a new Cody Townsend video, stoked for skiing season!
Can't wait to see what new lines and new adventures you go on with the Fifty+. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
Glad you're along for the ride
It’s not a classic, it’s totally a classic.
Great to see new content, and great to see Elyse out on a winter overnighter.
And good to see smart choices on the bail-out the first attempt. A good example to follow.
Thank's for film news adventures.
So good to hear that Bjarne will be back. You two make a great team.
So glad to see you back at it! I got hooked on your channel when I watched you ski the Northwest Couloir on Mt Shuksan which happens to be in my backyard. Such a good WM quote... 😂
This intro gives me the vibes of those school nature movies you would watch with the substitute; in the best possible way of course!
I’m glad you caught that vibe. Totally intentional, lol.
"The only person I know who wears mittens in California skiing" Meet #2, I'm a Tahoe local and it's all mittens all the time. I'll rock mittens in june if the snow lasts that long, haha! Awesome vid!
Stoked to see these episodes coming back! Hands down the best skiing mountain adventuring content around
I was surprised she hadn't done a backcountry overnight, especially being from that area, but cool she handled it no problem and hope this means more of these trips together for you guys. I'm going to show my partner this episode to help motivate her to do a snow camp trip with me, since she's shied away from it for similar reasons. I'm so happy you are back with new episodes!! Love these so much!
Right on! I really dig the classic 90’s-esque, NatGeo documentary style introduction. Psyched that the mountain community will continue to have content of authentic ski footage to consume. It keeps the fire stoked!
Could you have one (or more) of these each day through November 5, please?! Yee haw! Another ski season with the Fifty!
Looked like a classic to me! Welcome back!
Love how she raises that high-approachability = higher-classic value. Not "easy." Just, if you have to fly, trek and risk death.... not so classic. Strongly agree and great to see you two on this new adventure!!
Elyse's got some good points about classic lines for sure.
Agreed, I actually question some of the lines from the book for that reason. Is it really a classic ski descent if it takes a multi day approach, a lot of resources and money, and luck to be able to ski it? It might be an awesome accomplishment, but I don’t know if that’s a classic then.
Skied this with Chugach Powder Guides years ago. Was one of the raddest lines I've ever skied.
Hell yeah! Congrats.
Cheers!
Thanks! I'll let ya know, it's a short "pilot" season this fall. Going to really ramp it up in 2025!
I'm excided to see you continue this series and I love the addition of your wife.
Great debut for the new series. To me, this had all the great elements of the original 50. And the ski conditions appeared to be pretty good as well. By the way, I still watch The Giant Steps episode religiously!
Totally a classic! That was awesome!
Thanks Veronica!
Thank you, and congrats! 🎉 “The dude abides” ❤ I love it! (“Well, it’s just my opinion, man”😂)
Great job everyone, what a fun watch! All the best for the next adventures, keep them coming 👏
My wife and I have been top to bottom Orage for years. Wouldn’t ever consider wearing anything else.
So excited to have you back at it Cody! And great to see Elyse back with you on this one. Great content! Can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
Thanks for the kind words, and we're stoked to be back at it!
Would love to see a Nikolai schirmer collab. Sooo good to see this back cody
So glad you have continued this chronicle of epic lines. It will be good to have Bjarne back, for plot continuity. However, a big shout out to Dmitry: I thought he filmed this beautifully. So stoked to see the adventure continue!
Strong way to start the new series
So happy to see you back. Amazing video!
Let’s go! Cody and Nikolai release an episode on the same day?!
Oh snap! Time for me to tune into Niko.
Always happy to see the Roller Cod-ster back on my screen.
I'm impressed that Dmitry did that on a split! Pretty cool, very hard! ( I am a shit splitboarder and any slight decline stresses me out)
Kinda miss the old intro theme.
Dmitry’s a beast! Glad you enjoyed the episode.
I can’t believe Christmas came so early this year! Thank you Cody and crew!
Merry Christmas!
So stoked you’re back! I hooked up with Reine for thé FWT No Fall Zone podcast today! You totally need to get the Here Hold My Kid Crew together again on one of your new shows! Keep rocking, Cody! Love your work!
Yea your back !!!! and with the Wife Amazing Bro. Happy Days
I did tons of backcountry and glacier skiing in that area for over a decade back in the 1990s.
Never saw that line or heard anyone talk about it. Awesome video love it !!
I’m sooo excited. This is some of the best content on RUclips.
Thanks Chuck.
Cody is a Classic 🤘🏻
So so needed more of the Fifty vibes!!! Hope we get more adventures!!
Love that Cody found a Temu Bjarne
Finally some Type I fun! So glad you found a way to keep the project alive. Here's hoping you get the Mrs. to join you on more adventures; as the top comment states, you two are "couple goals"!
Yeah, glad you’re back. Especially as you are showing us we can have these adventures AND include family.
You've got a sharp eye, this is definitely a departure from the original concept.
Loved having Elyse! Hope she joins for more episodes!
Sweet. So stoked you’re continuing on these lines. Really look forward to watching these adventures.
What a treat to see this drop - new lines - new experiences. I'm stoked!
The new intro is really cool. Love the projection mapping on the mountain
Oh hell yeah! Pumped to see the series back. Great video as always, Cody!
Glad to see new content. I hope to see more of the OG Fifty classic lines get marked off as time, conditions etc allow.
Thank you for sharing.❤ Happy to see you again.
Very cool. I was just thinking about Cody today, and now I am watching this. It's like magic! :)
I LOVED it! Glad to be back!
I'm so glad the Fifty will continue! A great start to a new project
I just love your video man! The scenery is amazing, the talk is great. It’s so inspiring!
We need more videos!
Glad you're back! Fun times!
Woohooooo great to see you back on youtube, and to follow your adventures. Cant wait for the next one.
Awesome job mate! Only thing that would make this better is of the heights and distances could be in metric as well!
You dont need to read them out in metric, but even if it was just in tiny writting somewhere it would be awesome for us non americans.
Good job Cody!!
Wake up babe, new Fifty video just dropped. Buenos dias Cody!
Excited to see where the project goes!

Especially when it's such a whiteout you can't see the rollover in front of you, the terrain below you and how loaded the slope is. Those extra 5 minutes can be the difference sometimes. Glad you approve.
Welcome back. Super pumped to watch. Thanks
Happy to see you back on RUclips
Amazing couple ! So glad you’re back !
So glad you're back with more!
Excellent structure, story, and ski.

Fantastic! So glad the Fifty Project is back!!
Oh man, Fifty is back finally. Feeling soooo good after this edit.
It was so rad seeing this before you released it on RUclips. I’m excited for the new series and what lines you find! Keep it up!
Great start to what will no doubt be a great series.
Yooo so glad you're back! This is one of my favorite series on RUclips!
Welcome back !!! Greetings from Chile
Thanks for taking us on all your adventures, really cool bro. Snow missed the North Island in New Zealand this season so at least i can live vicariously through you. Mind you it helps to build sick MTB trail to keep ones mind off the snow.
Best news of today 🎆

@ agree 👍🏼
We needed more of the drone overhead shot while Cody and Elyse were skiing!
Awesome video thank you for making this available for free!
Glad to see you back at it!
Pleasant surprise to see this land today.
Great video edit! Love the local Girdwood content!
nice timing, I think the skis are finally coming out this week for many of us in BC (or at least those willing to swim with sharks), here's to a great season!
