I just read that burying glass wine bottles with the neck sticking out at the edges of the garden creates a sonic resonance that deter rodents. I am gonna try that next year.
And another nice harvest! (I think I may have caught up - that storm put me way behind). I'm looking toward my last harvest around Christmas, not counting the volunteer "from seed" vines still taking over one of my beds.
I'd like to get some of the Praxus Cherry Tomato seeds. I dug around the base of one of my sweet potato vines and didn't see any sweet potatoes. Since I'm growing them in a 20 gallon grow bag in zone 9a, I'm going to try to overwinter them and harvest next fall. I have some fleece row cover to put over it as well as moving it closer to my house to protect it against frost. At least the deer didn't eat them this year.
Marigold smell reminds of the flower gardens I grew near our house, when my children were small. As far as seeds, I think there is a tomato called black Krim… I would be interested in that seed!
The black krim is a great tomato! We'll see if we can get some of those included. :) I love that marigold smell so much! Definitely much better than the geranium smell.
I have a hugelkultur mound on my front yard property line where I had wanted to plant sweet potatoes, but I’m concerned deer will decimate it. They ravage anything I put in the front including honeyberries, pear trees, tiger lilies, comfrey, hostas, and just about any evergreen tree. Know of any effective prevention for deer pressure?
They’ve munched down my green beans.. pole and bush, okra, Swiss chard, and a beautiful morning glory trellis that was absolutely full and lush (and has beautiful red and white frilly blossoms) they are now working on my peppers .. I’d love to know too🙂
you are a great gardner yardner..
Oh wow. I love how you use every possible space.
That is definitely our goal, and I can't stress enough how much I like what it added to the looks at the front of our house. :)
Another nice haul! The plant that keeps on giving!

Marigolds remind me of the front porch of the house I grew up in. Mom always planted marigolds there.
I hope that is a fantastic memory for you! I love the smell so much. I don't know of anything quite like it. Have a wonderful weekend!
@@GutenGardening It is a wonderful memory of good times with my Mom.

I use bug netting row covers over my raised beds and it keeps the deer out.
