    Upgraded from a GTX 860 to an RTX 3060, incredibly happy, obviously an insane difference. The performance cost of ray tracing is a shame, something about it makes my eyes happy. But the ability to play a modern game at otherwise max settings and still clocking 60fps+ is insane to me.

I put it in just so as not to feel inadequate lol. Seemed criminal not to put a pcie 4.0 card in a Ryzen 7950x even though I will never ever use it's full power. The 3060 is able to run everything on ultra on 1080p at 60 fps on demanding games. Imo, it's not a HUGE jump. Certainly gonna have to switch settings around if u wanna play 2k resolution. Still a super great upgrade. The dlss the card some with is pretty awesome. If you ever go under 60 fps on a title, just turn that bad boy on and you get an extra 10 fps at a barely noticeable cost to the graphics

However, I run it at 1440p at 144hz steady without issues on sooo many games. Even Doom Eternal, with ray Tracing on! Sooooo it's a badass mid range card for sure. Oh, and I do ultrawide so it's 3440x1440.
    On big cinematic games, it easily does 1440p around 60+ fps.

I'm upgrading to dual X5675 xeons and I Wonder If the RTX 3060 will be a better buy. Problem is, the PCI express bus on the motherboard is a 2.0, not a 3.0, so I don't know if it will work well or I better go for a plain GTX 1080 and stop worrying. BTW, great video! Then you mentioned PCIE 2.0 and I completely forgot about that with your gen system. So to be honest it's a hard call. The 3060 and 1080 are similar in performance so I don't think they would completely flood the lanes but to be honest I dont know. I'm going to cautiously lean toward the 3060 as it will bring many out features with it over the 1080 and may benefit you in the long run especially whenever you decide to upgrade. The 3060 has a better encoder and multiple other tricks up it's sleeve to help with a variety of workloads. and Thank you!

      I'd hold off on that if you're not paying around $50 for the switch when selling your 3060 kind of like Bluepint said. But in all honesty, if you have to spend $100 or so for a switch to the 6700XT then I'd probably say no.
      Perhaps wait for summer '23 and try to sell and switch to whatever is around the $300-450 mark if you're thinking of running higher resolutions?
      But remeber that your hardware is in no way obsolete because of new hardware, only by the fact that it dosen't do what you need it to do anymore.

    I just upgraded to the regular RTX 3060. I ordered it on Amazon yesterday, and I should receive it tomorrow. I got it on sale for $397. With tax, and 4 year warranty, I spent a total of $472.77. It's been awhile since I've upgraded my video card, and I thought now was the time since I can afford it. Here is my system specs:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 (3rd Gen) 3800x
    GPU: MSI GeForce Gaming X 1060 6GB will be replaced with GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 Gaming OC 12G (REV2.0) Graphics Card, 3X WINDFORCE Fans, 12GB 192-bit GDDR6, GV-N3060GAMING OC-12GD Video Card
    Ram: 16GB DDR4
    HDD: Samsung 500GB Solid State for the main drive

I just don't want any big or small lagg in my gameplay. That's why I upgraded to the RTX 3060 from the GTX 1060 because I would get a small lagg and frame drops from time to time with some of my games. Hopefully, this RTX 3060 will fix that!

    • @BlueprintPC
      @BlueprintPC  Год назад +2

      @@mathias0584 Hey there, So if you goal is 1080p/ 60 FPS, you should be ok for a little bit. What you should start preparing for would potentially be a CPU upgrade. This will unlock extra FPS and give you better performance. Mind you, you should be fine for a bit but maybe start saving for an AM5 platform shift. By time that is done you can start saving for a GPU. However! again if you are happy with what you have, don't upgrade. Put the money a side until you need it. I haven't jumped to AM5 yet myself. I'm running 5900x with a 4090 and I know I can get more FPS with a faster cpu but I can easily wait for a bit. One other thing to note is that if your games are on a HDD(spinning drive) that could be a big cause for what you are having. Newer games have changed the way they load assets I had to switch to a Good SSD for a game drive to fix the issue.

      @@BlueprintPC ah ok. That explains the lagg. I have all my steam games saved to my Seagate Barracuda 4TB drive which is a regular sata drive. I don't use my Samsung 500GB Solid State for gaming mainly because of the drive only being 500GB. I will look into buying a new solid state drive, and cpu. Thanks for the advice!

    • @BlueprintPC
      @BlueprintPC  Год назад

      again that is a thought lol I cannot confirm that is your specific issue but just some thing to look into. I will say it will deff help with "pop in" when gaming. I noticed when rapidly going around game worlds I dont as often have to wait for textures to load after switching. I will state MAKE SURE the SSD you get has a DRAM cache as that is the biggest factor. Crucial MX500 is a good option that has DRAM or Samsung QVO
